"What if I tell you that I was trying to kiss you?"
Yu Chen's gaze on Luo Xiaolei was extremely intent. Emotions were silently overflowing in his eyes as the rhythm of his chest was becoming more and more disarrayed.
His watchful eyes were like magnifying glasses vigilantly observing her every expression. He could see her eyes widened in utter disbelief and then, all of a sudden, she gasped.
She covered her mouth with her palm as she spoke in a bewildered tone. "R-really? Y-you… you were trying to kiss me?!"
Yu Chen was again, surprised and at the same time confused by Luo Xiaolei's another unexpected reaction. Why was she reacting as though what she just heard was a certain shocking good news?! Wasn't she supposed to be mad?
"Y-you are not mad?" he asked.
Luo Xiaolei slowly rose. She sat, facing him. The disbelief in her eyes also slowly faded.
And then, abruptly, she stretched her hands and pinched his cheeks hard.
"Tell me… were you really trying to kiss me?" she asked again and when Yu Chen nodded, her chin dropped.
Oh my god! Th-this innocent creature was actually trying to steal a kiss?! For real?! No… there must be a reason why he tried, right?
While Luo Xiaolei was trying her hardest not to jump into conclusion, she suddenly remembered what happened last night causing another lightbulb to appear in her head.
"Could it be that I said some gibberish things when I was drunk last night? Like… that you can practice kissing me while I'm asleep or something?"
Yu Chen was silent again upon hearing what Luo Xiaolei had said. No, I was the one who told you to assault me… sigh…
"No, you didn't say that but… I was planning to apply what you taught me last night." Yu Chen blinked, trying his best not to avert his eyes away from her as he awkwardly scratched the back of his head. What he said wasn't a lie. He had been thinking about that kiss all day and he planned to ask her to continue their lesson tonight but he ended up coming home late and she was already asleep. But that was obviously not the real reason why he tried kissing her while she was asleep. "I just thought that I should put it to practice or I'll forget it so…"
Yu Chen's gaze turned intense as the words "I'm sorry" left his mouth.
But then, Luo Xiaolei smiled.
She held Yu Chen's hand and she was about to speak when Little Rui moved, muttered the word "mommy" as he turned and embraced his brother.
The two finally remembered that the twins were right beside them so Luo Xiaolei climbed off the bed and pulled Yu Chen towards the veranda.
As soon as the door was closed, she turned and looked at him. And then, she suddenly chuckled, as if she was so amused over something.
After chuckling for a while, she cleared her throat and started to speak. "It's okay. I understand. Don't be too apologetic about it."
Yu Chen's face brightened the moment he heard her said that it was okay. But the next words that left her mouth made his shoulders drop.
"Just don't do it again, okay?" she added as she pressed his palm.
"You… despise it?" Yu Chen replied and Luo Xiaolei couldn't help but giggle again. Somehow, this apologetic and seemingly so downhearted Yu Chen was damn so cute that Luo Xiaolei couldn't even seem to keep her cool and stay serious. She was really struggling not to jump at him and pet him.
"No, that's not it." She waved her hand. "I just think it's a bad idea, especially when the twins are there. You may not know this but I am not a sleepy log. I tend to wake up very easily and if I catch you trying to kiss me like that next time, in the middle of the night, I can't promise that I could restrain myself again."
". . ." Yu Chen was speechless. His brows knotted tight as he didn't quite understand what she even meant. What did she say? "Re-restrain yourself? From…?"
Luo Xioalei tiptoed and pinched him again before she sighed.
"Sigh… you really don't have any idea at all how tempting you were, are you? I almost forgot myself a while ago okay? It will be dangerous for you when I'm half-awake like that. I might think I'm just dreaming and pull you and assault you again so you better not do something like that, understand?"

Another silence went by. Yu Chen couldn't even say a word. He didn't even know how to respond with her now. This was really beyond what he had ever expected and he didn't even know if this was a good thing or not. He didn't know how to perceive her behavior right now so he was really confused.
But for now, he didn't want to spend this moment thinking about what was confusing him. They, being together like this alone again was definitely something he shouldn't waste. Especially when they were in such a seemingly perfect moment under the clear night sky.
"I understand. Now that you're awake, you will allow me to practice what I learned from you last night now, right?" Yu Chen's voice turned serious but still gentle and pleasing. His eyes that were as dark as the night were glimmering, so beautiful that the apologetic look he was wearing a while ago swiftly turned into something alluringly seductive.
"Ahem… uhm… well…"
"I'm sorry for being impatient."
"No, I understand why you're… okay, fine. But what did I taught you last night? Sorry, I remembered kissing you in general but I couldn't recall what kind of kiss did I… taught you?" Luo Xiaolei was hesitant as she asked, but for some reason, her question made Yu Chen's face turned even brighter.
"Actually, I still fainted last night when you kissed me in the lips so… so I want to try that low level kiss… first. I think it's better for me to get used to it first."
"Err… what? Low level kiss?"
"I don't know what's it called so…"
"…Oh, I see… okay, just go ahead then."
Luo Xiaolei prepared herself. When Yu Chen started to move, her heart began to beat like a drum again. He stared at her for a long while, as if prolonging her anticipation once again, seemingly teasing her.
And then, he moved for an inch. Luo Xiaolei maintained her cool as she waited. But when his face were now just inches away, Luo Xiaolei couldn't help but hold her breath. His lips were about to crash on hers so she closed her eyes, but…
The next moment, her eyes widened in utter shock as her body instantly froze. I was because Yu Chen's lips didn't land on her lips…
