XVII
Sophie's P.O.V.
"Axel? Is that a blood stain?" I ask him again because of his lack of response.
He seemed to have stiffened up completely, just looking at me with his mouth closed and I immediately know that it's definetly blood stain.
Shit, what did he do now?
I gulp, my hands starting to shake in slight panic at all the possibilities running around in my head. He could've gotten into a fight, most probably and it's either his or the other guy's blood. He could've fallen and injured himself.
"No, it's ketchup." he finally speaks up and I lean my head on my hands, sighing. It really has to be bad if he's lying to me.
"What did you do, Axel?" I ask and he gives me a fake confused look.
"I spilled some ketchup on my shirt?" he mocks me and I glare at him, and stand up from my table, heading towards exit. If anything sets me off, are his lies.
I can hear his chair scratch against the floor as he hurries after me and then feel his hand grab my arm and turn me around. I rip my arm from his hand. "Leave me alone. You can come back when you're done telling me lies." Glaring at him, I turn to walk away from him again.
He follows me to his car. Normally, I wouldn't go with him but I'm smart enough to know that I'm too lazy to walk back to school, so I go without a fight. I keep my mouth shut throughout the ride and Axel starts to sigh, looking for my reaction. I stay quiet.
"I can't believe you're pissed at me again. Why the fuck are you always pissed at me?" he groans and I roll my eyes, keeping my mouth shut. No. He's not getting a reaction from me. "You're so fucking annoying."
I focus on the buildings outside the car to keep myself from shouting at his lying ass.
However, I can't stay quiet when he drives straight past my school. I turn towards him with eyes and mouth wide open and my hands in the air. "What the hell? Stop the car!" I shout but he gives me the silent treatment, like I did to him just a few moments ago. "Are you deaf? Stop the car! I have school!" He rolls his eyes and turns up the radio, driving further away from my school as I sit there, wanting to pull out his hair and shave off his brows.
"I can't miss school, Axel, are you stupid!" I shout, but he turns on the music even louder and I reach over, turning it off. "Take me back." I demand.
"No." he barks.
"Now!" I force my voice to be as demanding as possible, but all he does is ignore me. For a second I consider jumping out of the car but we're going way to fast for my clumsy ass to be able to survive the fall.
"I hate you!" I shout at him and he snorts. "No you don't."
"Yes, I do! Where are you taking us, anyway?" I ask him, curious about the dramatic move he's making.
"Dunno. Somewhere out the town." he replies.
"I don't have any things. I don't know if I passed the test. You know I still have like 2 weeks of school left." I say and he sighs.
"You probably passed. You don't have to go to school anymore because you have all the grades you need. We'll buy any shit you could possibly need." he says, rolling his eyes.
"Well, I can't just leave like that!" I try to make him see how stupid this all is.
"Oh really? And you could leave me just like that seven fucking months ago?" he bites back and I stare at him for a few moments, before slumping in my seat, looking back out the window. He's right, I know he is, and I hate it. I hate it a lot.
I stay quiet, thinking about everything, my mind filled with unanswered questions. What happened last night? Why does he feel like he needs to leave? Where are we going? How long is he planning to stay? What is the lie he's hiding from me?
He stops an hour later at some gas station when we're already out of Spokane, but I noticed thag he's not going in the direction of Missoula. He's going in the direction of Seattle.
"Do you want something to eat or drink? Or do you have to piss?" he asks when he stops the car.
"I'd like a coffee and I have to pee, yes." I reply, moving out of the car.
"Well, then I'll get you some coffee and wait for you here, okay? Don't do any stupid shit." he gives me a warning look and for a second it feels as if he's kidnapping me.
"Yeah, yeah." I say and head to find the toilettes, thinking if I should lock myself in or just run away before I realize how stupid my thoughts are. I love Axel, even if he's acting a bit crazy at the moment. No matter what he did, I have to be there for him and wait for the madness to pass through because I love him.
So I finish my job and return back to the car to see him waiting for me by his car with a cup of coffee in his hand. "Ready to go back on road?" I ask and he looks at me and nods. "Yeah, are you?"
I nod, too, and, taking my coffee, lean towards him, pressing my lips against his for a quick peck, surprising him. "Let's go, okay?" I ask and he nods, a small smile playing on his lips. "Okay."
