XLIV
Sophie's P.O.V.
"Mum?" I breathe out but she doesn't hear me; of couse she doesn't hear me when she's snogging some weird guy like a teenage girl.
I almost forgot that Axel is standing right next to me, so his loud and shocked voice scares me. "What the actual fuck are you doing on my mother in law?!" he shouts and then rapidly moves toward the weird guy, forcefully pulling him off of my mother and punching him in the jaw.
"That is a married woman you were just laying on!" Axel shouts and my mum quickly looks at me, then at her lover being beaten, unsure of what to do, and then she moves to put herself between Axel and her humping buddy.
"Stop it! Stop it, you have no right to put your hands on him!" she shouts at my man, wrapping her arms around her boe from behind.
"I can do whatever the fuck I want to do to him! How could you do this to your husband? Where is he? You should be ashamed of yourself!" Axel starts shouting at my mother and I watch my family drama unravel in front of me.
Mum starts crying at Axel's words. "He is not here! He's at a hotel, we're getting a divorce! Even if we weren't you have no right to interfere in my family business!" she defends herself and I can just see Axel go crazy at her words and alarms go off in my mind.
"I have no right!? I have no right?! Are you fucking kidding me! I am your future son in law! Your daughter's future husband and the father of her children and at the moment, probably the most important male family member of yours! And I have no fucking right to interfere?! Are you-"
"Axel, stop it." I squeeze his bicep as hard as possible and pull him away from my mother, deciding to ignore the "your daughter's future husband" part for now, and I step in front of him, looking directly into my mother's teary eyes.
"You're getting a divorce?" I quietly ask her, and when she nods, I surprisingly feel much less pain than I thought I would.
I guess that through the past few months I've lived through so much that not a lot of things get through my skin anymore, it only pains me to see her hurt now.
"Why?" I ask her and her lips twitch. "You know we've been in a rough place over the last half a year, especially when you left and, I didn't tell you this, but he started drinking and not caring about me at all. I don't think we actually spoke two sentences, two sentences that weren't completely necessary to be said, in the past half a year. We've been trying way to hard and I love him, I really do, but I can't live like that anymore." she tells me and I can help but shrug.
"You seemed to have moved on quite quickly." I say and the guy steps in at my words.
"I'm afraid that's my fault, not hers." he says and then outstrectches his hand to me. "Sophie, right? I've heard great things about you. Mostly from Axel here."
For once in my life I don't care about the politeness and I don't offer him my hand. "I'm afraid I haven't heard anything about you, the guy my mum just cheated on her husband with." I give him a fake smile.
He lets his hand fall to his side. "Ouch. Guess I deserved that."
"Who are you, anyway? And what are you doing here?" I ask and Axel sighs.
"He is my coach, the one who made me famous and all. And... I've got no fucking clue why he's here and much less how he knows your mother."
At that, my mum and him look at each other and I can't help but hate it. Guess it's how all children work; you can't help but hate your parent's lover.
"What the fuck are you talking about? I came for you, you piece of shit, you just disappeared! You left no text, no call, no note, nothing! Of course I started searching for you, anything could happen! You could've been kidnapped, or killed or anything! The first place I knew I had to check was the origin or your bad past, of what you have been escaping, so today I found out Sophie's adress and came here and, bam. Beatrice opened the door. I couldn't believe my eyes at first, but it was actually her." he says and they look at each other again.
And then the puzzle pieces come back together, and apparently Axel's do, too.
"That's him? That's the guy who got away?"
"My mother in law is the woman you couldn't get over?" We both ask at the same time and they chuckle and nod.
I throw my arms in the air and sit down on the sofa, while they start giggling and asking what they've been saying about eachother.
"How romantic." I groan, watching them and Axel spares me a glance.
"I can't believe this is happening." he mumbles. "If I'm going to have another shock today, I may as well be checked into a fucking asylum because my mind is going to explode."
I sigh and stand up, looking at Axel with pleading eyes. "Can we go to bed, please? Today has been the longest day of my life and me and the baby really need some rest." I ask. "We can talk about it all tomorrow."
Mum and the guy whose name I'm still unaware of nod. "Good night, love birds." they say at the same time and I can barely stop myself from groaning.
"Goodnight." I mumble, mentally preparing myself for the much needed sleep.
