I almost fainted when he finished narrating everything. My body just froze.
"What? So yummy right?"
I feel like throwing up. I felt like I wanted to throw it all up so my divine stomach can't process it. But I stopped. I don't want to satisfy him. Instead, I just drank some more water to wash down all of it, hoping it would just go out.
"Was it...clean? And...safe?" I asked.
"I think." He said. "There were some reported cases about some contaminated food, some getting sent to a hospital and getting typhoid fever, some don't even feel something, not even knowing the cause after days, and just..." He trailed off dramatically for effect, "dies."
I shivered. He chuckled at this. Wow, so much for fooling me.
I shot him a glare. He raised his eyebrows and continued eating. The whole time I didn't bother looking at him as it sent shivers down my spine just watching him...eat that...so-called food…”Do you really believe that? I was just kidding. I wouldn’t be eating this if I knew it’s not safe.” He said.
I rolled my eyes at him, "Hurry up, I wanna go home," I said.
"You won't eat your food?"
"What food? I don't want to eat that food ever again."
"Then you won't eat...that?" I looked at Eion who was pointing at a waitress who was holding food in a tray. Eion flashed her his number, 3, which was in the square paper, and the waitress nodded her head in our direction and gave the food to us.
"Here. Maam, and sir. Enjoy."
"Did you order it?" I asked.
"Yes, when you were in the comfort room, I ordered it."
"For me?" My eyes were sparkling in happiness, the food spread all over the table. Wow. He would give me food after all. Such an honor.
There was some familiar food from yesterday's lunch and I forgot the names. Soup, some beef, salad, and strange fruit. There was a label saying it's called Durian.
"Uhm...yes...I mean, I would eat that if you don't want to..."
"Thank you!" I exclaimed and dug in. "What's this Durian?" I asked through my mouth full of food.
"It's the city's fruit. Their pride. They are famous for having this delicious fruit that the city was called 'The Durian Capital of the Philippines'."
"Oooohh," I nodded and continued eating. From the corner, I see him staring at me, a smile plastered on his face.
He just smiled. “Congrats, you’re now a Filipino. You ate all of that. Some people don’t like to it those.” He complimented, and I just chuckled. It wasn’t so bad afterall.
Tonight we didn't go to the restaurant. We just ate here at the villa.
We ate, the whole squad chatting happily, and saying I missed out on the fun, to which I ignored. I'm so done for the day that even evening came I was exhausted to even chat with them.
The main dish was seafood, like shrimp, crabs. Though there was some soup added.
I eyes every food laid on the table. "Who cooked it?" I asked when I realized that we don't have a personal chef here, even a maid.
"Yeah? Who?" Emma asked.
"It was Eion's driver, I think. I don't know." Hannah replied to her, but Leroy corrected her. "No, I think the staff came here to cook."
My eyes just looked around for someone..."Aren't we missing someone?" Hannah spoke out loud, seeing my wandering eyes.
"Yeah, the soon-owner-to-be of the resort."
"Yeah, where is he?" Leroy asked, standing up to look around.
"He said he's going somewhere," Luke replied, sitting beside me.
Somewhere? He didn't mention it to me earlier. Whatever.
I know I'm allergic to seafood, my allergic reaction is the worst. But I ate it, simply because it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for someone like me, and two...I have a guess who really cooked it...
I savored every tender juice and flesh of the dishes, then I quickly excused myself after that. "I gotta go." I gripped my hand as I felt my palms starting to itch, the very first signal of my allergy reaction kicking in.
"Awe, what about the sea? It calls us Snow!" Emma exclaimed.
"Just next time. I'm not Moana." I replied bluntly, at which they broke into fits of laughter. "I have a stomach ache. Just go have fun guys."
My tongue was the one itching so I kept quiet and immediately went straight to the girl's room upstairs.
Since the squad went night swimming by the beach, I was left alone in the room, and also the whole penthouse. Thank goodness.
There was a sharp pang of pain in my stomach. I gritted my teeth, heading to my bed, and put the covers above me. I snuggled deep in the covers as the pain came stabbing me again. This stomach pain is also a signal of my allergy reaction, really kicking in and spreading around my body.
There was a knock on the door. I kept silent. Is it the squad coming back? The knock came again, this time with a male deep voice, "Are you angry?"
Eion? Just by the voice, I know it's him. He didn't go with them? And I'm right. He didn't really go somewhere, maybe he hides somewhere here? I didn't reply.
Just go away, Eion! Not now when I'm in this state. I badly want to shower and scrub my skin to death with itchiness.
And...I forgot to bring my medicine, so I'm really screwed. I don't have a choice but to wait for it to stop until tomorrow, and let my stomach digest it for me to dump it away.
"Sorry. I was just having fun." What is he talking about?
I didn't reply. "Really, I'm sorry. Earlier at the market." Ah, so that's what he was talking about? Right. Right now, all I want is some isolation and avoid every single person in the world and let it pass. All I can do now is tie my hands to avoid itching everything that will leave a scar.
"Snow? Are you there?" He called out after silence.
