Angelina tossed around the bed, inhaling the home scent hungrily, feeling her muscles relaxing. When was the last time I had a good night's sleep and when did my crappy bed change to this, she thought? Tossing around while releasing a loud yawn, closing and opening her mouth, making a sound like she was eating.
The reflection of sunlight through the opening penetrated the side of her face and she used the spare pillow her hand could reach and covered her face. She waved her hand dismissively, "Bella, switch off the bulb" she whined, grumbling incoherent words under her breath. The two maids who had entered the room earlier to check whether their lady was awake or not stifled the laughter that wanted to escape because of her childlike behavior. A word to describe her was adorable. The first thing they did when they entered was to open the windows and bound the curtains for the rays of sunlight to shine inside and the natural air. They didn't mean to disturb her peaceful sleep.
The sound of birds chirping and the ray of the sun made her open her eyes slowly to check when her crappy apartment became Cinderella's room where birds chirped every day. She looked at the ceiling which was designed with artworks and fluorescent bulbs then slowly turned her head to the other side to find two females in maid outfits, staring at her as if she was a China golden attics. She turned right abruptly and screamed at the top of her lungs and she looked around the big room again frantically as her eyes widened noticing this magnificent room wasn't her crappy room.
A Series of questions were running through her brain but she couldn't voice it out. How, why, and where?. She stared at the maid who held the white wedding dress then everything came rushing back like her favorite movie.
Belle talking to her about the job, jasmine offering her money but politely declining it, being left at the altar, meeting Bella's stepbrother who was also her husband's best friend, her eyes widened in mortification remembering when he untangled her dress and left her again then the talk with her father.
Oh my goodness, so many things have happened, she thought using her hands to cover her cheeks. She removed her hands from her warm cheeks and stretched her phone to take her phone. She saw many missed calls on her phone and messages from her worried friend. Her eyes glanced at the digital time on her phone and saw it was already 10:30 am, she used her hands to wipe her eyes whether her eyes were deceiving her or the time on her phone had resented by itself before she checked the small alarm clock beside the nightstand and saw 10:30 again. Then turned her frantic gaze on the maids, "please what's the time?" she asked in a crooked voice before clearing her throat to remove the phlegm that blocked her internal pipe.
One of the maids checked her wristwatch, "10:30 ma'am" she responded with a bow.
"What?!" she screamed, standing up from the comfortable bed, throwing the silky duvet away, "I'm late," she said in alarm. The maids looked at each other because they couldn't understand what their lady meant. Angelina rushed to the bathroom without looking at the mirror because she knew her hair would have been like a bird's nest and a droll would have been printed on her cheeks. She brushed her teeth while humming a distant song then showered without wasting more time.
What kind of wife wakes up at 10:30, she grimaced, dreading how she would explain to her husband. Although the marriage was fake, the vows had been taken and her wifely duties had been embedded in her. Would she be supposed to cook for him? She cringed, banging the door after her. She went to where her luggage was and unzipped it, taking a blue knee-length gown, pants, and bras before running off to the bathroom again. She wasn't comfortable with showing her body to strangers. When she was through with dressing up, she took a brush and combed her hair down before doughnuts her hair and hurriedly went down.
The maids were watching their mistress, they didn't know what happened to her to be in hurry and they were surprised when she didn't go to the closet to take a dress. The closet had already been filled with different brands of dresses, underwear, lingerie, shoes, and the latest bags. They looked at each other again before running after the lady who left the room.
Angelina descended the stairs in haste yet carefully, breathing heavily when her feet touched the ground, she sighed in relief. The stairs were one heck of an exercise, by the time I walked on these stairs to and fro four times daily, my weight would have reduced, she thought.
She met another maid on the grand floor and smiled brightly at her yet cringed internally, fiddling with her fingers, "Can you please show me the way to the kitchen?" she asked politely.
I hope he wouldn't be awake for me to make a quick dish for him.
The maid took her to the kitchen while she stopped at the door as her eyes wandered around the kitchen, "Woah" she whispered in astonishment. The kitchen was her dream coming true, cooking was one of her favorite hobbies and she longed for this type of kitchen. This place has become my favorite place, she grinned and walked in, looking at everything in awe.
The maid which she later knew her name to be faith, helped her with showing her where the necessary things were placed and the groceries.
They were busy bringing out some groceries in peaceful silence before she broke it, "... Faith…" she called softly, "can you please tell me more about him?" she asked, fiddling with her fingers. She was nervous.
Angelina wanted to know more about the man she married, to know his likes and dislikes. She didn't want to be on his bad side, they could be friends, she shrugged her shoulders, staring at the maid who thinly lipped morphed into a beautiful smile.
"Young master hates tardiness, lateness, and laziness. He's very time conscious. a good person and nice to everyone here in his good days" then faith's voice dropped low, "and can become someone's worst nightmare in his bad days" the maid shivered in fear, remembering an incident that occurred because of that Clara bitch.
Angelina nodded her head, following everything faith was saying. She didn't want to make enemies, she could befriend the maids.
"What's his favorite food?".
Faith sighed, "Young master is very picky yet his favorite food is any Italian foods" faith said while Angelina took the information to heart.
