I watch around and saw a lot of people entering the venue. I guess, we just came in early today. I was glad we did. I didn't want to get caught up in the crowd. Besides, I didn't want to gather more attention than necessary.
"Oh, look who we have here, the famous Wade Harris." We heard a woman said. Wade and I turned to her in unison. I saw a woman wearing a black sexy revealing dress with a deep v-neckline. She is pretty but she looked like a liberated woman. Call me a judgmental but that's what she looked like.
"Renna," Wade said. In respect to her, we both stood up.
"Well, well, I am surprised you still recognize me Wade baby," She said in a flirtatious tone. Baby?
Wade looked at me apologetically. This might be one of his flings before.
"Oh, who is this woman? Is she your flavor of the month? Or should I say flavor of the week?" She said referring to me. Do I look like a hooker to her? I was about to lash out on her when Wade spoke. I could even imagine how I would pour on her the wine she was drinking.
"Renna, this is my wife, Camierre, and no, she's not just a flavor of the month or week." Wade said and the woman spit out the wine she was drinking. What? Are you that surprised, girl? I raised my brow at her.
"Wife?" She said. "You already have a wife?"
"Yes, why? Haven't you heard?" I said and held Wade's arm when I could no longer hold my silence.
"I-I didn't mean to, I wasn't informed. I just got home from the States. I'm sorry." She said and I could see that she was kind of sincere in here apology.
"Well, now you know," I said. She nodded and immediately left. You messed with the wrong woman, girl! I am not a timid kind of girl when I am stepped into by someone.
I turned to Wade and he was smiling from ear to ear. What is he smiling about? Did he find it funny?
"What are you laughing at?" I said.
"Nothing," He said while trying to stop himself from laughing but to no success.
"Were you happy that your ex-fling is back?" I said as I narrowed my eyes at him. "Because if you are, I will really bring you to her."
"What?! No! Jeez, I was just amused by you. You look cute when you are jealous." He said as he pinched my cheeks.
"I am not jealous! Why would I be?" I said.
"Yeah, why would you be? You are the one I love." He said and he looked so serious.
"Oh, really?" I said teasing him.
"Yes, really, why? Isn't it obvious already?" He said.
"Then why were you smiling earlier?" I said trying to maintain my annoyed face.
"I was just happy." He simply said.
"And why is that? Is it because of that girl?" I said.
"No, I was just happy to see that you can be territorial sometimes. I like the way you held my arms earlier. It made me realized how much you love me." He said. Oh, this man! Can he be any more romantic?
I cleared my throat and just sat down. He did the same as he put his arm at the back of my chair.
"You are cute when you're blushing. It makes me wanna kiss you right here." He said. I turned to him and narrowed my eyes. We are at a public place, for Christ's sake!
"Will you stop? I am not like your ex-flings who will do as you say, okay? There are people around, jeez." I said. No matter how much I liked the idea of him kissing me, I still don't wanna do it in such a public event.
"Alright, so does that mean we can do it at home?" He said as he wiggled his brows.
I was about to answer him but we were interrupted by someone.
"I hate to interrupt you but my assigned seat is here. Do you mind?" Riley said with a smirk on his face. He must be mocking Wade again. Wade motioned for him to sit down beside him.
"Hey, I didn't know you were gonna be here." I said as Riley sat down.
"Yeah, I was invited and I also wanted to meet some hot ladies here tonight." He said as he drank on his wine. I laughed a bit at his remark but Wade was silent. What is up with him? He looked like he wasn't in the mood already.
"Are you okay?" I told him. "What is it?"
"What?" He said.
"Nothing, you were just silent. What's up with you?" I said.
"Yeah," Riley said with a raised brow. "What happened to you, dude? Did the cat got your tongue?"
"I am fine. I am just a bit tired." He said without looking at us.
"The party hasn't even started yet and you're tired already?" Riley said with a bark of laughter.
"Don't start with me, Ri." He said.
"Alright, chill dude! I was just messing with you. Jeez!" Riley said and he stood up. "I'll just get myself a fine young lady over there. There's no fun here."
Riley walked towards the other tables where the girls were sitting. I don't know but I felt like there is something wrong with the two of them. Why did Wade's mood suddenly changed when Riley came? Are they fighting or are they not in good terms this time?
"What's up with you and Riley? Are you two fighting over something?" I said when I could no longer hold myself from asking.
"What? No, we're fine. We're good." He said. I don't know but I wasn't contented with what he said. It felt like he was hiding something.
"Don't worry about us. That's how we are." He said. Yeah, maybe that is how their friendship works. I didn't know about that since I only met Riley a few times. Why would they fight anyway?
