“Let him go Malcolm, you're choking him,” the big man ignores me, so putting my hand on his arm I tell him, “the baby is here,” he listen to those words and release him, looking at that despicable being that I have in front of me I put on my disgusted face, “are you saying sorry?” He nodded, “well, I can't be with this resentment and harboring hatred for someone who doesn't deserve even that from me, you've hurt me in ways that should never hurt someone, you tore me apart, and you ended a part of my life that I will never be able to repair again. Now since you've heard what you wanted, get away from me or I tell my husband to make you disappear from the fucking map.”
Ian doesn't move, he just looks at me with those puppy dog eyes that he gave me so much before, “I was an idiot and although the reasons are not fair, I did that because I loved you,” he says no more, my hand which were carrying my son is stamped on his head making him recoil due to the forceful blow.
“Did you love me?” I repeat with disgust, “that word in your mouth is terrible, I appreciate that I did not get to love you as I said, I only felt appreciation for you and that is over, I already told you. I forgive you and I will love that you disappear from my sight, if one day you pass me by and do not approach me, because if you do, there will be no other chance.” Malcolm takes the basket that I give him and passing his hand around my waist encourages me to walk.
“Can you see why you can't be alone for a minute?” Malcolm asks, my heart is racing so fast that it flutters me, “if your husband had been here,” he shakes his head, “that floor back there would be red and with that damn bastard brain everywhere,” he sighs and stops in front of me, “dwarf you already know that your husband is someone with lot of hatred, you have been able to witness everything he is capable of just to break him, you have lived it firsthand and even though he has decided leaving that life does not indicate that the enemies leave him alone. Are you understanding me?”
Biting my lips I let out a sob for everything that Ian woke up in me, “you're right Malcolm, I'm sorry, but you must also understand that my freedom is the most important thing for me, I can't be with two or three men after me wherever I go,” he doesn't look away from me, “I love Kahin and that's how I have accepted, but not because of everything that happened I'm going to live scared. I don't say anything else and I let him guide me. He is very right in everything he said, but it is not that danger is going to haunt me just like that. After the shopping, eating with Susie, visiting my mother and talking to my bitter Luna, I go to the hospital to visit my sun. I am really nervous, it is the first time that we will see him after the operation, I would not bear it if he did not forgive what I've done to him, I broke an important promise to him.
“Olethea,” Fatima calls me waving her arms, once I see her I smile and rush to get to the elevator she have waiting.
“I thought you were already with him,” my friend raises an eyebrow and sees my huge belly, “don't say anything, I know. But what did you expect? There are two of them and their father is a thousand-story skyscraper.” Fatima lets out a laugh that deafens all of us in the elevator. My friend took an urgent flight when Francesco passed out in the middle of the video call.
“Poor woman, poor you,” rolling her eyes she paid no attention, if anyone knows what awaits me it is me. The elevator reaches our floor, when I go down I stop and look at the corridor in front of us.
“What's happening?” Fatima asks, stopping when she realizes that I'm not following her, “are you okay?” She quickly approaches me.
Nodding, I sigh, “Fátima I broke the promise I made to him. What if he doesn't forgive me?”
She sighs heavily, “of course he will forgive you, Olethea you have given him the opportunity to live, although we still do not know in detail his condition. We know that he is alive and well. Didn’t the doctor say that he was evolving in an impressive way?” I nod and she smiles, “then don't worry, if he's angry I'll be the one to give him a fucking blow to the head and I'm going to leave him worse than he is. Understood?” Smiling at my friend's crazy words to encourage me to continue, it is she who enters first and then I, seeing him smile fills me with emotions, it is as if nothing had happened to him, of course apart from the bandages on his head and his face as a newborn.
“Wonder,” he whispers when he sees me, my chin starts to tremble.
“I was prepared to hear you talk like a retard but you're fine,” Fatima laughs which makes me laugh through tears.
“Fatima don't be so impossible please,” I approach him and give him a hug and a delicate kiss on the cheek, “you're fine,” I caress his cheek and look into his eyes, “forgive me for breaking our promise, but for not having broken it you wouldn’t be here with us, look at you you're fine, everything went well.”
My sun embraces me tightly, “you don't know how glad I am that you have broken your promise, thanks to you today I can say that I have a lot to live next to those people whom I love.” I separate from him.
“Tell her honey, tell her what the doctor said,” Lucy encourages him, I don't take my eyes off him, whatever he has to say I know it's good, but I want it to be as much as I wish.
