Harry Potter: The Planewalker Chapter 31

After breakfast, Christian went to his study to continue his writing. Now that he had told his family the truth, he felt a heavy burden lifted from his shoulders, allowing him to return to his work. Additionally, the writing process became easier and faster for a multitude of reasons: Firstly, the research was much easier. Jim was highly educated, with a Ph.D. in Bioengineering and a Master's in Genetics. Christian learned many things from his memories of his university classes—especially from history class. Although Jim was not interested in this class and only considered it an essential requirement, Christian could still learn much from it. The greatest help was Jim's history class in High School, as it contained the very basic knowledge he wanted. Secondly, Christian now had an eidetic or photographic memory. He could memorize anything by looking at it once and replaying it like a three-dimensional rendering. His ability to absorb knowledge drastically increased with the Mind Palace. Lastly, he now had an even greater concentration without the burden of the future. Although still worried, he understood that he should take things one step at a time. His quill was writing on its own while Christian continued the research. "I should probably not give so much praise to Darwin, given how much of a rampaging racist he was," muttered Christian, considering the facts he learned from Jim's memories. If there was one thing he loved about the future, it was that easy access to information stopped people from worshiping terrible people from history or even celebrities. "Let's replace this part with the effect of penicillin on Muggle's history. To introduce science and technology, I could write in the form of a linear timeline. In that way, I can cover various topics, starting from the wheel to the steam engine era, the invention of electricity, the telephone, and maybe even introduce the Information Age. If the future is full of cameras and Muggles have the internet to spread information as fast as possible, wizards might want to be prepared to continue hiding." Christian groaned, feeling the weight of all this work. Then he remembered Jim had to take a few writing classes because of the engineering side of his degree, and he thought this might help. So, he added them to his schedule to see if they would help. The afternoon soon arrived, and Christian finally left his desk. He had to cancel with Professor Hallmark as he had a session with his therapist, Mr. Bart. Afterward, he attended his Capoeira lesson and his daily magic session. At night, he continued reading his magical books. His father's portrait talked to him, telling him he was relieved he was in a much better state. This embarrassed Christian, as he did not expect everyone to notice his existential crisis state. So, he buried his face in the books. Christian soon found the process even more enjoyable than before, as he could now memorize all the information at a glance, allowing him to put all his focus on understanding and digesting it. After the night reading ended, Christian cleaned himself up for bed before meditating. Jim's memories gave an insight into how powerful wizards like Dumbledore and Voldemort were. The process also ignited his competitive spirit. He believed meditation, which increased focus and his ability to control his mind and emotions, was one of the keys to becoming a wizard on these two levels and maybe surpassing them. Unfortunately, Jim only practiced meditation for less than two months before quitting, so he could not provide much help. After meditating, Christian did not sleep but continued reviewing the memories. His objective was to find more information to help Aunt Eleanor while also learning knowledge and skills that may help him. He suddenly opened his eyes and moved his fingers: "Accio." His magic diary and a pen flew into his hand. [Entry 4: Mystery of the Soul and Its Relationship with the Killing Curse] [What is the soul? Does it exist? And what are some of its applications? I cannot answer or even offer an opinion on the first question, but I have a few words on the others. There is plenty of evidence of the existence of the soul. Firstly, it is my confrontation with Jim. All my knowledge and experience conclude that we had a battle of the soul, and I was the victor. A second example would be the Dementor's Kiss, which is capable of sucking a person's soul. A third example is ghosts, which could be argued to be related to the soul, or it could be spirit, which is sometimes used interchangeably or sometimes completely different from the soul.] [The fourth example is the Resurrection Stone, which can summon a soul from beyond the Veil or the Afterlife. It could also be said it does not summon the soul but an echo or projection.] [The fifth example is the Fidelius Charm, which implanted a secret deep in someone's soul, reaching the highest level of security.] [The sixth example is the Horcrux Dark Magic, which allows a wizard to separate their soul into seven pieces. This example provides additional information. For example, a soul can be separated from the body for a period of time. It can be fused with a magical object or a non-sentient creature (ex, Nagini.)] [A body cannot share two souls, proven by the fact that all the bodies of the creatures that Voldemort's soul took over died, and Professor Quirrell suffered a similar fate and needed Unicorn Blood to sustain himself. A part of the soul can stay in a living creature (Ex, Harry Potter) and even influence it. However, there are negative repercussions as the complete soul can easily defend against any attempt at body possession, as shown by the relationship between Harry Potter and Voldemort.] [Now, on to the deeper observation or analysis of the soul. Many people, including Muggles, agree that it is the immortal and immaterial aspect of any sentient being. However, there are tangible or observable aspects.] [The soul deeply relates to a being's emotions, memories, spirit, mind, or any other aspect that makes a creature 'living.' Proof of this is the fact that Dementors must suck all happy emotions from their victims before sucking their souls. Further proof of the link between soul and memory is that Voldemort's first Horcrux, the diary, contained his memories and even his 16-year-old self due to that single piece.] [Another proof is that people who suffered the Dementor Kiss and lost their souls are still alive, as their brains and other bodily functions keep working. However, they have no memories or sense of self.] [The last proof is my confrontation with Jim. After I was the victor, he left me his lifetime memory.] [Now that I have established that the soul is real and has many influences and implications, I wish to know where it is, can I access and influence it in any way? And for those questions, I have my theory. I believe the physical manifestation of the soul exists in one of the many layers of the mind. Specifically, I believe they exist in the first layer.] [Once a child is born, their soul is created and housed in their mind. However, a child's mind is very simple (for obvious reasons) and thus contains only one layer. The eyes of a child are so bright and pure because their souls and single-layer minds can be reflected.] [There is a saying that the eyes are the windows to the soul, and I believe it might have originated from Legilimens, who saw a child's soul by accessing their mind.] [Finally, what does the Killing Curse have to do with this? There is a high possibility that this curse is a very potent form of Soul Magic. The curse either directly attacks the soul or severs the connection between the body and the soul. The fact that no injuries are visible in the body suggests it attacks something else. Of course, it would be best to do an autopsy on the flesh to see if something else did not kill it.] [Severing the link between the soul and the body is unlikely since it has been proven that the body can remain living even without a soul. So, unless the curse also damages the brain, this theory is unlikely. Of course, there is also the possibility that the brain itself is the physical link between the immaterial nature of the soul and the physical body.] [The direct attack on the soul is more likely. So, can I block the Killing Curse if I can create a spell that defends the soul? Lily Potter's accidental use of the ancient magic of love proves that it's possible to survive the Killing Curse, but it might have achieved it in a way I have not thought about.] [Regardless, this line of thought is worth pursuing. If I succeed, the magical world will forever be changed. The Killing Curse will no longer have the effect of spreading fear and chaos.]
