Harry Potter: The Planewalker Chapter 27

[Entry 3: Coding Instead of Command for Enchanting] [In one of the lessons with Mom regarding bewitching an object with more than one charm, she talked about the rejection between the two charms unless the spells are similar in nature (i.e., Wingardium Leviosa Charm and Levioso Charm). But even then, conflict will result in the process failing. Her solution is to use soft and hard commands for the respective spells. Choose the primary Charms that served as the core of the item being bewitched and use a softer command to indicate its position. Meanwhile, the secondary or other charms will receive a more severe (hard) command to not conflict with the primary charm and respect its authority. [Inspired by Computer Coding, I considered the possibility of treating each charm like a code. With the connection established with the item being enchanted, treat each charm as a code with one purpose. For example, one charm was responsible for making the blade of a sword sharper, while the other's purpose was to make it harder to break. No one is more important than the other, and they work together as a whole.] [Research Result: The experiment failed. We concluded that a spell that links all the different charms, akin to a computer language, is necessary. However, we created a new form of enchantment called {Conditional Charms} that isolates each charm into its own separate thing without the influence of others. The final product was a sword that would burst into flame if you tapped one finger on the hill. But if you tap two fingers, the charm will be deactivated. With three taps, the Cutting Charm (Diffendo) will activate in the blade of the sword, making it incredibly sharp and capable of cutting most things.] [After many more experiments, we discovered the highest number of enchantments in one object is 7, which is understandable given how important this number is in the world of magic. [This charm technique has many rooms for improvement.] Christian finished writing the research result and yawned. It was bedtime, and although he no longer had to attend school, his schedule was busier than ever. After meditating, he checked one of Jim's memories before sleeping. Early in the morning, he was reading all the books in the library while his enchanted pen wrote his books from his thoughts. He was now in the part that introduced significant historical and technological developments. So, he had to learn and write about the Renaissance, the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade, the Industrial Revolution, Charles Darwin's Evolution, the Splitting of the Atom, the Moon Landing, and a few others. He had to understand these things and summarize them in a way that wizards could easily digest. Christian plans to take full advantage of the fact that photos in the wizard world can move and incorporate these illustrations in the magical book. The afternoon arrived, and it was time for his magical lesson. "I never asked you, but how is learning Legilimency and Occlumency going?" asked Tiara. Christian paused, "I don't know." "What does that mean?" "I tried the things in the book, but the process was so easy that I'm doubting myself." Christian was not lying. Magic came naturally to him, but it was nothing compared to how easily he learned Occlumency and Legilimency. The only conclusion he came up with to explain this situation is that he did not practice it, or his experience with Jim's memories made any magic related to memory or the mind very easy. "Let's test it out. I will use Legilimency, and you block my attempt to read your memory." Christian hesitated in case she saw Jim's memories in his mind. However, he also wanted to know his achievements in this particular field of magic. Tiara pointed her wand at him and said, "Legimens." She found herself entering a space of only darkness. She concentrated and tried to navigate her surroundings, trying to leave the area. But no matter how hard she tried or how much strength she used, she was only in this endless darkness. And as time passed, the darkness became suffocating. Finally, Tiara felt the darkness rapidly consuming her; a terrifying sense of dread began to overwhelm her mind, so she quickly left. "What was that?" she asked, her breath slightly agitated. "I isolated you in a layer of my mind with an absolute and consuming darkness," replied Christian. "I'm slightly disappointed as this was only the first layer." "How many layers are there?" "Currently, there are only 12." Tiara was speechless. After a moment, "Are you saying there are 12 layers of protection before someone can see your memories?" "Yes, but whether the memories you found after the layers are true is a different story." "You can already create false memories?" "Yes, and it was very easy. The only difficulty was making the emotions related to the memories as vivid as possible." He experienced everything in Jim's memories, including the latter's emotions. Hence, he only needed to repeat the feeling he had felt almost daily in the past five months. "It seems your highest affinity for magic is in this field," commented Tiara. "Maybe," nodded Christian, who felt she might be only partially correct. He reckoned that what he did to Jim transformed his soul somehow, which is why this form of magic came so easily to him. However, he had no knowledge of Soul-based Magic and could not detect any changes. "Now, I'm curious about the other layers?" asked Tiara. "That's a secret. But all I can say is my favorite is the one I designed after Dante's Inferno. I imagine it would be a terrifying feeling to feel your mind being burned alive." Tiara shuddered at the thought she had to face a burning hell instead of that consuming blackness. "Why don't you try accessing my memories?" said Tiara, who wanted to know her son's ability. "Don't go too far." She warned, thinking how capable he might be. Christian nodded before looking her in the eyes. "You can already use it nonverbally?" "Yes," replied Christian excitedly. "It's the first spell I can use wandless and nonverbally." "It's only been three weeks." "As I said, it was ridiculously easy." "Can you use Obliviate?" "I should, since I learned it from a section of Uncle Sullivan's book. However, I haven't tried it yet." "We will find white mice to experiment with afterward. Let's get started." Christian gazed at his mother and soon found himself in his mind. 'She uses a shield defense for her mind?' He secretly shook his head. Such a means of protection was too basic and direct. He did not try to force himself in; that would be stupid. Instead, he focused on the emotions in her memories, especially the more intense ones. He chose a positive emotion/memory and used it to guide him to his destination. With this method, he easily bypassed her defense without directly confronting his mother. Tiara realized this soon and tried to block him, but Christian was faster as he navigated the complex layers of her mind until he found the memories he wanted. "Look, isn't our son handsome?" said Tiara on a hospital bed holding a newborn child. Isaac, who had only recently begun to grow his beard, looked at the two with love and protection. "Since he's got our blood, it's normal for him to be born so handsome." "Have you decided on a name yet?" asked Isaac. "Christian. I name and think it fits." "Christian Malik; that's a great name." "Oh, sorry," said Christian before leaving his mother's mind. "Was that my birth?" "You and Father look…so young." "28 is not young," explained Tiara. "Now that I think about it, you look too young for someone about to turn 39. Did you drink some kind of potion?" asked Christian. "What a strange thing to say. Don't you know no woman likes to be reminded of their age? And haven't you heard the saying that blacks don't crack?" "No, I'm saying this because I realize that you, Aunt Arielle, and Eleanor looked too young for your ages. It's understandable for you two since wizards might age more slowly, but what about Aunt Eleanor?" "Oh, that's because of a remedy from a Chinese Wizard I once saved. He says it will regulate your Qi, Spirit, and Essence and ensure longevity. I have no idea what that means, but the thing is very effective." "Is that the strange-smelling tea Aunt Eleanor drinks at night?" "This remedy sounds like a good business venture." "It is, but we don't really need the money." "Fair point," nodded Christian, who suddenly thought of something. "Can I make a suggestion for your Occlumency?" "Don't just put a wall around your memories. That's a straightforward and taxing way to protect your mind." "What do you suggest?" "The mind is complex and full of layers because of our thoughts, emotions, and memories, which are even more complicated because they combine the two. Use the near-infinite layers of the mind as a weapon. So, instead of creating the strongest shield around your memories, use the layers to have any intruder running a wild goose chase. Make them lose themselves in the navigation process while you hide your memories and the emotions associated with them." "That's very insightful advice. I will try, and you can help me through the process." Christian's eyes lit up with excitement at the thought of being a teacher instead of a student, and Tiara smiled after seeing his joy. "So, what's next?" Christian asked after regaining his composure. "Let's try the Obliviate Spell. Then, we will continue our lesson on Conjuration and Vanisment."
