Friendly Enemies Chapter 60

After the call, Wesley sat still with his deep gaze staring at nothing in particular. He was contemplating sending a text message to Daisy asking for Rose's house address. The one Rose had taken her to that morning after that night's incident. He did not really trust Daisy not to tell her friends about them. And even if she really would keep to her word, if he sends a text, her friends could easily get a clue of them working together if they check her phone. He would not want to alert the enemy's camp in any way after all. 'I'll just ask her about all those when we meet,' Wesley sighed after giving it much thought. Picking back up his phone, he was about to give her a call but stopped himself again. 'Come on Wesley. You can just send a text tomorrow. For real do I really want to meet her this bad?' Wesley felt really displeased with how he was behaving. 'I don't like her and should never even like her,' he thought. 'First, she's not my type. Next, she has a boyfriend and why would I even like someone first?' he scoffed. 'Who is she to make me want her?' In the end, Wesley found himself texting, asking her when she would be discharged so they can meet. He had met her by the stairs and she did not look weak, so she definitely would be better by the time she'd be getting discharged. As to the way she looked, she should be released in a week or less. Afterwards, he only felt ridiculous cause thirty minutes later, Daisy had not replied to his text. He went on checking from time to time to see if she had replied but she didn't even after two whole hours. Wesley felt a little upset. 'Isn't she the one in need of my help? So what is this important thing she doing that's making her not reply to me immediately?' Since he had decided not to talk through text about whatever they would be doing together, he had only sent a simple and harmless-looking text which read, "When will you be discharged?" He had also decided he would tell her to always delete whatsoever texts between them no matter how insignificant. Now that aside. Daisy wasn't replying to his text and now he felt annoyed. He decided to play games on his phone which he has not done for a while now, in a bid to while away time and distract himself from checking his phone for her reply. Meanwhile, Daisy had actually dozed off while leaning in her boyfriend's arm as she played games with her kid sister and new friend. That automatically ended the game. Edward laid Daisy properly on the bed and then stated his intention of staying with her all through the night. Anyways, now that Violet has little or no trust in Edward, she told him she'd be staying with her sister regardless. Edward had no problem with that, after all, they've all been cool with each other. Ellen left saying she has some patients to check on. She isn't supposed to have any patient assigned to her as Mr Louis has paid her exclusively to look after his daughter, but anyways no one thought much about it. So she left. After a while of playing games and still checking his inbox from time to time for her reply, Wesley finally decided to retire for the day. And even as he lay on his bed staring at the ceiling, he still felt grumpy and all. Daisy still had not replied. But then, he thought of the fact that she might have slept early or something. 'But all through? Has she been sleeping?' Now feeling like he was being ridiculous, Wesley shut his eyes and finally went to sleep. The sun timidly rose on the horizon, painting the sky with soft hues of pink and orange, starting off a new day. Daisy woke up with a start to the gentle symphony of birdsong, their melodious chirping filling the air just outside her ward. Inside the hospital ward, she stirred from her slumber with her eyes fluttering open. Somehow, she felt way stronger than she has felt in a very long time. Daisy admired the pale morning light filtering through the window with a smile on her face, which brought her a sense of comfort and reassurance. This new strength gave her a new refined glow and even she could feel herself getting discharged soon. Soon, she would get herself fully. And maybe this is cause there's a new hope of her getting back at whoever had hurt her. Looking around, Daisy was surprised to see she was the only one in her ward. She wondered where Violet and Edward had gone to. Anyways, she stretched her hand to take her phone which was laying on a stool beside her bed. Putting it on, she saw it was a few minutes to 7 am already but then there was one more thing she saw that caused her eyes to widen slightly. Wesley Maxwell had sent her a text last night. Yes, she had saved his number immediately after she unblocked him. She immediately unlocked it and read the text, "When will you be discharged?" Immediately, she began to type, "In a week's time..." But then she paused without sending out the message. Since she was feeling way better now she thought it was high time she gets out of the hospital. She's still yet to see her dad and that one alone, even though her dad and Violet had told her there is no problem, Daisy felt things were not fine. 'I really should leave this place soon,' she sighed. 'My family and people need me.' With that, she cancelled what she had initially typed and then typed, "in less than a week. Good morning Mr Maxwell." This, she sent. Meanwhile, in Wesley's opulent and vast bedroom, on his king-size bed, Wesley slowly rouses from his sleep, his eyes flickering open to the dawn's delicate glow. And just as usual, his mind was already busy with the day's plans. Slowly, he rose from his bed but the sudden ding from his phone caught his attention. That was when he remembered he had texted Daisy and had expected her reply for a long time before he finally fell asleep. With a soft sigh, Wesley reached for his phone, feeling she had probably replied. Putting it on and unlocking it, he saw her message had only come in seconds ago. After reading the message, Wesley simply typed his reply, "Okay." Then he made to get off his bed to get ready for the day when another message from her came in. "I'm so sorry I did not reply since last night. I slept off quite really early till now and sincerely, I feel much better now." "It's okay. And congratulations on your speedy recovery," Wesley typed then sent. Another message soon came in from her which he opened immediately. "I should be able to see you by the weekend. I'll keep in touch with you." Wesley stared at the message feeling like he does not necessarily have to reply to that. But in the end, he simply typed, "Okay." Staring at their short chat, Wesley unknowingly had a small smile at the corner of his lips. And even the glow on his face was akin to that who was chatting with or had just chatted with his lover in the early hours of the morning. If only he was looking at a mirror right now. Suddenly, he started to feel displeased. 'She should have called me instead of texting me. She should just call next time.' Over at the hospital, at Daisy's ward, Daisy stared at their chat and sighed in relief. Now she was pretty much sure the man is not so upset with her. She had thought about it deeply. That man did not look like someone who would stoop so low as to set her up. Well well, that's what she felt in her hunch. Finally deciding to cast all doubts aside and confirm things for herself to be super sure, she went to Google and typed the name, 'Wesley Maxwell' But then what she saw caused her eyes to widen in awe. She kept gasping in shock and even for the next five minutes, she was still shaken by shock....
