Tunde held Abby's hand and walked briskly towards the door. Abby who was finding it difficult to match her small steps with his large strides in her heels tried to free her hand from his strong grip to no avail.
"You are walking too fast, slow down, will you..."
"..."
"If you're not going to slow down then let go of my hand... I can certainly walk by myself..."
"..."
"Will you stop acting crazy!?..."
She continually protested like a stubborn child who didn't want to do her parent's bidding, while trying to free her hand from his too strong grip at the same time.
He neither stop walking nor let go of her hand. It was as if he was stone deaf to her complaint. He could hear her talking but he wasn't listening. His mind was focused on what she might do if he let go of her hand. He was afraid she would change her mind and go back to her date if he was not firm with her.
Shegz who had already turned and parked the car in front of the restaurant immediately opened the car door when he saw them coming.
"Let go of my hand, you brute! She protested till they got outside the restaurant before he finally let go when they approached his car.
"What is the matter with you!?" She asked angrily at his back while rubbing her wrist.
"Let's please talk in the car." He simply replied without turning, he just kept on walking to get into the car through the other door while Abby continued glaring at his back.
"Good afternoon miss" Shegz greeted with a smile. Taking her attention away from crazy Tunde for some seconds
"Hi Shegz" Abby greeted back with her own smile. The smile immediately turned to a frown when she sat down beside Tunde in the car.
"What was all that about?" She angrily demanded.
"What was all what about?" He asked coolly, like virtually dragging a woman through a restaurant was quite a normal thing to do.
"Are you seriously asking me that like you don't know what you did... You domineering bully!"
"Domineering bully!?" He replied like he can't believe she just called him that.
Yes! You are do-m-i-n-e-er-in-g... And a bully! Look it up!" She stressed the domineering for effect.
Tunde was lost for words "I'm sorry! I didn't realize..."
"You didn't realize!? Tunde you practically dragged me out here... I couldn't keep up with your long strides and I was asking you to slow down... What is the matter with you!? Why are you acting so crazy for just no reason?"
"Geez! Abby, I didn't realize. I'm sorry! I was just upset because of the public display of affection from both of you."
He found it difficult to think straight and would sometimes act irrationally whenever he was angry. He thought he already had his anger under control. He prayed it didn't affect his relationship with Abby even before it started.
Anger was his problem from when he was in kindergarten. Living with his grandma, and away from his brothers and mom had its toll on him emotionally, especially when kids at school would make fun of him and said his family doesn't want him, that was why his mom dropped him with his grandma.
He even got expelled from school when he was in junior high for beating up a boy and knocking out his two front teeth for saying his mom gave him up for adoption.
"What public display of affection are you talking about?" Abby demanded "Why am I even asking? How is it your business what I do in public for you to be so unreasonable and rude..."
"You expect me to be reasonable while my woman was having a romantic lunch with another man!?" He scoffed
"Excuse me, what!? You must be drunk cos I'm not your woman yet so..."
"Yet?..." Tunde smiled triumphantly as his sharp ears picked on that single word and his brain immediately decipher its meaning.
"When is it gonna be then?" He smiled with an arched brow. "Baby you became my woman when you returned my kiss, cooked for us in my kitchen, and laid naked with me on my bed while I lovingly took your virginity."
Abby was dumbfounded at how fast his ears could quickly pick out the word to mock her with. Even she didn't realize what came out of her mouth until he pointed it out.
She was disappointed in herself. Didn't the 'yet' means she was seriously considering being his girlfriend? So much for being subtle and making him chase her...
He was so cocky and sure of himself that she was already his and as much as she truly wanted to be with him, she would still love to reduce some of the chips of 'no woman can ever refuse me' that he carried around on his shoulders.
"Lovingly?..." She scoffed "There was nothing loving about my first sexual experience with you. It was horrible. It was all energetic pounding and no pleasure. It felt as if my inside was being seared by a hot knife...can you imagine the pain of being seared by a hot knife?... How can you call that loving?"
Abby borrowed some words from Dupe to make her attack more brutal. 'Shey you don't want to have sense? Let's be senseless together now, two can play the game.' She thought with smug satisfaction.
The smile he was having on his handsome face wavered before it completely disappeared. It was as if he was doused with a bucket of cold water which deflated his ego. She successfully gave him a deadly blow on his manliness and it hurt.
Abby wanted to laugh so bad when she saw the look on his face but she couldn't, she had to maintain her serious look.
He suddenly reached over and pulled her to sit on his lap. The interior of his Mercedes car was very spacious with made his movement very swift, without restrictions.
"Stop! What do you think you are doing...?"
"Relax will you? I'm not gonna eat you. I only want us to have a serious discussion"
How could she relax when being in such proximity with him was so unsettling?
"I was very fine where I was..."
"I was not fine where you were,...you were too far away and the vibe you were giving was creating a barrier between us"
"Whatever! All I know is we can't have any serious conversation while I'm sitting on your laps? So please..."
"Oh, alright then" he reluctantly placed her back on the chair very close beside him with no space in between them. He had his left arm wrapped around her shoulders while he entwined the fingers of his right hand with hers. He fiddled with her fingers for some seconds before asking...
"Was that why you were crying? Because I hurt you?" He asked shamefully. He didn't wait for her to answer him before he started apologizing.
"I'm sorry I hurt you... I thought you were experienced. I would have been gentle if I had known...
I'm sorry I stood you up for six weeks. I was out of the country on an important assignment. I came to see you as soon as I arrived back into the country and I never meant to burst in on you unannounced, I just wanted to surprise you. Thought you would be happy to see me...
I'm sorry for acting like a jerk, saying those mean words to you... I swear I didn't mean any of them. I was just stupidly angry because I couldn't get through to you.
I'm honestly sorry babe... For hurting your feelings... Making you cry... I swear my heart ache when I saw your tears... I-I just don't know the right words to say... How to handle the situation... Fuck!" His voice had gone down to almost a whisper as he swore softly, she could hear regrets and sincerity in it.
