DxD: The Replication System! Chapter 45

The Power of Destruction embodied pure annihilation, while Hell Fire symbolized rebirth —two with near-opposite attributes. Before coming to this world, Roy used to read many novels. Many described such opposing forces, the most iconic being the negative and positive energies. This concept sparked Roy's bold idea to fuse the Power of Destruction and Hell Fire. Complete opposites, like destruction and creation, would be suicidal to merge at his level. But these two, not fully antithetical, held room for compatibility, giving Roy the confidence to experiment. Otherwise, he'd never risk it—his current strength wasn't reckless enough to bring disaster. Another motive drove him: both powers stemmed from devil nobility—the Bael Clan's and the Phenex Clan's. These clans prized their bloodlines obsessively. Publicly wielding their signature abilities would invite trouble, especially from the Bael Clan. Unlike the approachable Gremorys, the Baels, per Roy's meta-knowledge, were arrogant and power-hungry. If they learned a human wielded their Power of Destruction, they'd come knocking—and not for tea. Fusing the abilities into something new could mask their origins. Even if the Baels or Phenexes sniffed out Roy's power, a hybrid ability might defy clear ties to their bloodlines. "But how do I actually fuse them?" Roy muttered. The idea was solid, but execution? "Let's just try," he said. Ideas alone wouldn't cut it—trial and error would pave the way. Power of Destruction flared in his left hand, while vibrant Hell Fire blazed in his right. Fusing them outside his body was safer; an in-body failure could wreck him. He wasn't banking on instant success—this was a cautious first step. The energies touched. The Power of Destruction snuffed out the Hell Fire instantly. Hell Fire couldn't match the Power of Destruction. Adjusting the output, Roy tried again, balancing their intensity. He lost count, his demonic power nearly drained. Yet each flop sharpened his control, deepening his grasp of both powers. "After destruction comes life, rebirth…" Roy mused, recalling online quotes and book snippets. Once philosophical fluff, they now held weight. The Power of Destruction razed; Hell Fire renewed. Their interplay clicked in his mind. Hundreds of attempts had exhausted him, but his mind was razor-sharp, his control over both powers now nuanced. The flame flickered, teetering like a candle in a storm. As it shrank, its bright orange hue morphed into a deep, coagulated-blood red. The flame stabilized, pulsing with a menacing aura, as if contact would incinerate utterly. "Got one," Roy exhaled. A first step, not true fusion—the powers in his body remained separate. But it lit the path forward. "Keep going," he said, reinvigorated. Through the night, from dusk to dawn, Roy pressed on. "Is it morning already?" he said, glancing at the dawn-lit window. Around his body, a dark red flame danced. After relentless trials, he'd developed a new ability. Ability: Bond of Life 1) The bond of life attaches to the life force of the user. The more bond of life, the greater intensity of any attack using it. 2) Clings to any foes, taking their life force consistently. 3) No matter how strong the foes are, as long as they are contaminated by bond of life. Their life force would be taken. Depending upon the strength of the user. Example- If the user has high class strength, but uses bond of life to a Satan class. Although, the Satan class enemy would not feel anything, prolonged exposure to bond of life would make them weaker. And bond of life cannot be removed by anyone, only the user can remove it. "Shouldn't have been that easy," Roy said, dousing the flame. A single night's success, from a prototype move to a full fusion, defied expectations. "Is it me… or did the Gremory-Phenex engagement hint at this?" Rias's betrothal to Riser aimed to blend bloodlines, potentially birthing heirs with hybrid powers. Sirzechs, born of a Gremory-Bael union, wielded transcendent might. "Maybe I'm overthinking," he shook off the theory. Setting an alarm, Roy collapsed into bed. With no morning classes, he could recover for a few hours. After waking, he washed up, ate heartily to replenish energy, and headed to Kuoh Academy. His transfer-student buzz had faded, letting him slip into a quieter routine. "Roy, you look wiped," Aika said with a teasing grin, mimicking a hand motion. "Up to something last night?" "Kiryuu, I'm starting to think you're a lewd creep trapped in a girl's body," Roy shot back. Despite catching up on sleep, the night's high-intensity experiments left him sluggish. A short nap couldn't fully restore him. "C'mon, looking that drained? Hard not to wonder!" Aika said, puffing up confidently. "And I'm a certified cute girl! Glasses, braids—total charm for some guys!" She struck a pose, flicking her braid with a smug flourish. "Yet no boyfriend," Roy smirked. "I'm just picky!" Aika faltered. "No love letters in sight," Roy pressed. "You've been here, what, a week? What do you know?" Aika huffed. "You're rattled!" Roy grinned. "Roy, you don't know—Aika was popular back in the day. Love letters stuffed her locker," Katase chimed in from behind, amused. "See?" Aika said, sneering triumphantly. "But once her pervy side came out, guys steered clear," Katase added, grinning. "Yeah, even the Perverted Trio in our class got burned by her," Murayama said. "Impressive record," Roy said, glancing at Issei, Matsuda, and Motohama, then back at Aika with mock awe. "You two!" Aika growled, glaring at Katase and Murayama. "I'm still a cute girl!" "Still no boyfriend." "Roy, don't make me fall for you just to prove a point!"
