Dragon Ball: I Became Cell in a Doomed Future Chapter 5

"What's your backup plan?"Inside the aircraft, Bulma asked curiously. "There are several, but there's one we can act on right now."Levos rubbed his growling stomach. "By the way, Doctor, do you have anything to eat?" "Of course. I always keep food on me." Bulma pulled out her capsule case, selected one, and tossed it onto the cabin floor. Boom! In a puff of smoke, crates of food were neatly stacked across the cabin. Levos immediately left the co-pilot seat and began rummaging through the boxes. Muttering to himself as he picked through the contents. "Compressed biscuits? Nope." "Beef jerky? Not ideal." "Chocolate bars? Maybe." "Braised pork cans? Nice." "Instant noodles? Jackpot!" Just in case, he asked Bulma for hot water and diligently sampled every available flavor of instant noodles. As the sound of slurping continued behind her, Bulma felt a bit guilty. "Sorry, I didn't realize you were this hungry." "No, you've got it wrong, Doctor. I'm not eating all this because I'm starving."Levos paused, chopsticks still in hand, and explained earnestly, "I'm sampling them for their taste." Filling his stomach was just a side benefit. His real purpose was something else entirely. Although these noodles had technically expired over twenty years ago, they had been stored so well that they hadn't spoiled at all. And the taste? Far superior to anything he'd ever had in his old world. Levos genuinely hadn't expected instant noodles in the Dragon Ball world to taste this good. To be fair, it wasn't until he forced down four or five bowls that he could objectively evaluate the flavor. But this was no ordinary instant noodle. It was worthy of conquering the taste buds of gods. This world still had hope. Levos suddenly felt reinvigorated. With a solemn expression, he carefully stacked several unopened packs of instant noodles together and began his summoning ritual. "Mr. Whis, these are called instant noodles. They're really delicious!" "Mr. Whis, please come and taste the most delicious food in the entire universe!" "Mr. Whis, if you want to eat these, you'd better contact me soon!" "Mr. Whis, these noodles are from Earth in the North Galaxy. I'm sure you've never tasted anything like them before!" "Mr. Whis, if you don't hurry, you'll miss your chance!" Levos firmly believed in the idea that persistent prayer would be heard by the gods. In fact, back in the Resurrection of Frieza arc, Bulma had used a food offering to successfully contact Whis. As long as he could reach Whis, everything would turn around. It would take less than an hour for an angel to bring Beerus from the Destroyer's Planet to Earth. And surely, for the sake of delicious food, protecting a tiny planet wouldn't violate any neutrality principles, right? Even if Whis didn't want to interfere directly, he'd probably still drop hints to Beerus. After all, the God of Destruction would definitely want to keep sampling Earth's cuisine. Levos chanted continuously for nearly an hour. By then, their aircraft was nearing West City. His throat was hoarse, but still, no response. "Mr. Whis! Lord Whis! Whis, the guiding angel! Servant of the God of Destruction! Whis-kun! Whis-san! Whis-oppa…" Bulma had been listening to him mutter like a lunatic this whole time without seeing anything happen. She finally couldn't hold back. "This Mr. Whis you keep calling who exactly is he? Can he really save Earth?" "Mr. Whis is part of the angel race. He's a being of divine status. He's not only Lord Beerus' attendant, he's also his teacher." "Attendant?" Bulma frowned in confusion. "Think of it like a cat owner's personal caretaker." Bulma's eyes widened in shock. "Are you saying this Whis treats the almighty God of Destruction like a household pet?" "It's just a figure of speech! Just a metaphor! I definitely didn't mean it that way, Doctor! Please, don't say it so bluntly!" Levos was nearly scared to death. If those two heard that, he'd be in serious trouble. "So your backup plan… is this? Offering instant noodles to persuade those two to save Earth?" "Exactly. As long as I can contact Mr. Whis within the next three days, we'll be saved." Truthfully, Levos didn't like relying on others to solve problems. But in the body of an ordinary Earthling, there was no way he could ever train fast enough to reach the power needed to defeat Dabura or Majin Buu. Right now, his only option was to seek protection. Besides Whis and Beerus, who else could possibly defeat Dabura and Majin Buu? Suddenly, an idea struck Levos. His eyes gleamed as he carefully asked, "Doctor, I have a question." "Hm? Go ahead." "It might bring up painful memories for you…" "Just ask. It's fine." "Your sister, Tights. Is she still alive?" Levos asked seriously, his tone unusually solemn. "I need to know." "I'm not sure. She's been missing for over twenty years. I've been trying to contact her all this time but never succeeded." "Do you remember anything else about her? Like, what she said the last time you met? Or places where she used to live?" Bulma rubbed her temples, trying to recall. "She used to live on an island in the south." "She rarely came back to Capsule Corporation, mostly stayed out on her own." "Oh, right! I remember she had a friend who was an alien!" Levos' eyes lit up. "Let's go find the place where she used to live!" "Right now?" Levos thought for a moment. Time was tight, and this was just as critical as contacting Whis, maybe even more urgent. "Yes. Let's go immediately." If they could find Tights, they could get in touch with Jaco the Galactic Patrolman. Sure, Jaco wasn't particularly strong, but the Galactic Patrol had existed for tens of millions of years. They might have seemed low-profile and underwhelming, but that was just a façade. Even the Supreme Kais had entrusted the Galactic Patrol with the imprisonment of Moro, the devourer of planets. It showed just how powerful their backing really was. On top of that, there was a hidden ace within the Patrol a trainee angel, Merus, living incognito in the lower realms. To Levos, the Galactic Patrol was another lifeline. If they could connect with Jaco, Earth might still have a chance. Of course, Galactic Patrol officers traveled all over the universe, so getting help would take time. That's why Levos was eager to find Tights as soon as possible. On the way, Levos explained everything he knew about the Galactic Patrol to Bulma. "You're telling me that this so-called elite officer, Merus, is actually an angel? And he's Whis' younger brother?" "Exactly! That's why Earth still has a sliver of hope!" "Levos, I really want to know… what kind of world did you come from to know all this?" "You wouldn't find it interesting." Levos quickly dodged the question. Bulma gave a small smirk. "I know you've got your secrets. If you don't want to tell me, I won't pry." "Sorry." "But Levos…" Bulma looked at him from the co-pilot seat, her gaze sincere. "You found me and gave me hope. I really feel… incredibly lucky." "Haha, we're partners, aren't we?" Not wanting to waste time on the journey, Levos made himself another steaming bowl of instant noodles and continued his ritual of calling out to Whis.
