Don't Leave Me #2 Chapter 26

*Jiya Pov* I sat on the bed in my new flat and stared at the wall. I glanced around and saw that the room is even smaller than the one in Mumbai. I closed my eyes and leaned on the headboard feeling tired of everything. I never wanted anyone to know about this except Dad, but Mrs.Joshna got to know and then that Rose and now everyone. My parents are busy in having a chat with Raj. He is being such a good friend. My parents need that distraction for now until I pull my thoughts into the right way. “I hate you so much that I wish you are dead”. How can I even say the words like that? Death is not a small thing. It destroys a family within seconds. I closed my eyes scolding myself. I saw how B’s death affected everyone. It is her death, which caused him to take all these steps. I rubbed the new mark I made on my wrist and hissed feeling the pain. I think i need to wait for six months, and then I can leave this god damn place and run away. “You should stop doing that.” I heard Dad’s voice and opened my eyes to see him standing near the door. I pushed the ribbon watch properly to cover it and said, “Like I already said Dad it is my freedom. It helps me letting go of the pain which increases over the limit. I can bear limit, but not over it.” “I want to be able to do something. I still think you should talk to a counselor.” He said. “No, Dad! If not this, then I don’t know how will I live. I know this is a very wrong thing to do, but I miss my baby Dad even though I had the thought of it just one-week inside.” I said. “Your Mom wants to talk to you.” He said after a few minutes. “I don’t have the energy, Dad.” I said shaking my head. “For a few minutes.” He said. “I will talk to her tomorrow morning.” I said, and he accepted. I drifted off into sleep and made an effort to forget everything. I hate you Mr.Mehra. Next day, Mom walked inside the room, and I gestured her to sit. Dad and Raj already left the house to purchase some essentials for the house. “I am sorry, Jiya.” Mom said, sitting in front me. “Forget it, Mom.” I said, shaking my head. “No! Slap me, Jiya. I deserve it. I just got blinded by the son’s love that I hurt this gem so much.” She said crying, and I sighed. “Leave it, Mom. I never cared about your behavior from past many years. You love Bhai, and I can’t do anything about it right.” I said. “I… I am really sorry. I never believed anything and just accepted his reasons. I wish I didn’t.” She said crying, holding my hand. “So emotional.” We heard a new voice and turned to see the person whom I never thought I will. “Bhai? What are you doing here?” I asked him shocked. “I got to find out before coming here that he got bail as some friend helped him. But I didn’t know that he was here.” Mom said, and I nodded believing her. “Leave the house, Bhai.” I said getting up. “And why would I do that?” He asked smirking. “I said leave!” I shouted at him. “Oh! I am so scared.” He said and then laughed. I hid the mobile behind me and started pressing the caller log, and I wish Dad lifts his phone. “So my dear sister, your husband, I mean ex-husband took revenge. Oops, I am again mistaken. You took revenge on me, and I should pay you back right.” He said and then I saw him taking out the gun. “Bhai! You already committed one sin and don’t do another one.” I said hoping he will listen. He walked towards me and stood in front of me. He looked around and shook his head saying, “How can you survive in this room?” “Bhai!” I said in a reasoning tone. “Don’t call me like that after what you did to me.” He shouted. “What do you mean?” I asked him frowning. “Don’t act so innocent Jiya because I was outside the Mehra’s mansion hiding and heard everything.” He replied and smirked at my horrified expression. “You missed your secret friend so much right? Why don’t you go and meet her and give her news that her brother will be there soon.” He said and suddenly gasped holding his head. I looked back to see Mom holding a rod in her hand. She nodded at me and said, “Run Jiya.” I rushed outside the room and started going towards the gate, but then I felt the rod hitting my legs, and I fell down. I glanced back and saw him walking towards me still holding his head. I got up to my feet and hissed in pain but continued running away. Within minutes, he held me and started pulling me. I shouted for help, but no one is here around us. He continued to drag me towards the top terrace of the apartment. He gestured me to my head for the end with his gun. “Do you know I killed Durga with clean like no one would know that it is not suicide, but you ruined everything.” He said giving me the disappointing look. “She was pregnant, you scoundrel.” I shouted at him. “Oh my god! Really? Oh, I didn’t know.” He said, frowning and then laughed. “Of course I know, Jiya. See the irony, I killed his sister and her baby, and he killed your baby, but alas, I will be the one that kills you. Because of you both, my life got ruined.” He said, shaking his head in amusement. What should I do? *Ajay Mehra Pov* “Ajay, Ajay! Open the door. It is urgent.” I heard Dad shouting. I got up from the floor and opened the door to find out Mom and Dad worried. “What happened?” I asked them. “Sahil is out of jail, and at present he wants to kill Jiya.” Dad replied and I immediately rushed outside the room to see her Dad pacing. “I already called in the police. We need to go there.” He said, and I nodded rushing with him and Raj. “How do you know about this?” I asked him while driving. “She called me, but didn’t say anything when I lifted the phone, but then heard him speaking. We need to be there soon.” He replied panicking. We reached the apartment and rushed outside. When we went near her floor, we saw her mother with a wound on her head. “He hit me and dragged Jiya upstairs just now.” She said, and I nodded. “Please, ask the police here to be soon.” I said and rushed to the terrace ignoring their shouts and hid behind the wall. “She was pregnant, you scoundrel.” she shouted at him. “Oh my god! Really? Oh, I didn’t know.” He said and then suddenly laughed. “Of course I know, Jiya. See the irony, I killed his sister and her baby, and he killed your baby, but alas, I will be the one that kills you. Because of you both, my life got ruined.” He said, shaking his head in amusement when I glanced at them. It is true! I am similar, but I will not let him hurt her. I took a deep breath and walked towards him slowly and held him from behind. He struggled for a little and I tried to take away the weapon, and I was almost successful, but couldn’t do it because of his blow. He beat me in my face with his elbow making me lose my step. He smirked at me and gestured me towards her with the revolver. “Are you fine, Jiya?” I asked her and she just nodded staring at him. “Such a sweet love. Will you beg again Ajay like yesterday? I so want to see you beg for her life.” He said. “Sahil! Please leave her. She doesn’t have anything to do with it. She already lost so much. Please leave her alone.” I pleaded with him. “A little more, Mr.Mehra.” he said waving his revolver. “I beg you Sahil. I will take back the case if you want, but please leave her. I can’t let anything happen to her.” I said pleading more. “Tempting offer, but I am not a fool to listen.” He said shaking his head. I knelt on the floor and pleaded him more and more with Jiya interrupting me not to go through with that. Then I heard the police sirens faintly, and then they stopped. Looks like my Dad asked them to stop the sounds. “Please release her, Sahil.” I said, and he walked towards us slowly and pulled her towards him. “Time to say good-bye." He said and placed the trigger near her head. “Kill me too then.” I said and he frowned. “Kill us at a time.” I added. “Your wish.” He said, pushing her into me. “What will you get by killing us, Sahil? This time you will get the death sentence.” Jiya said. “No Bhai?” he asked, raising his eyebrow. “If I call you with that word, then it will be like I am disrespecting that relation.” She replied fuming. “I don’t care what you think Jiya.” He said and pointed the revolver at her. I glanced back and saw the police rushing near him, but it was already too late as he pulled the trigger. I immediately pushed her away completely making her fall on the floor. Then I heard another shot firing and then another. I looked up to see him on the floor dead with a shot through his skull. “Ajay!” I heard Jiya shouting and I glanced at her confused, but happy that finally I heard her calling me by my name. “Jiya!” I mumbled and looked down to see blood oozing from my stomach. Why didn’t I feel it? I thought and fell on the floor. “Ajay!” she called again kneeling beside my head. “Thanks, for calling me by my name Jiya.” I said and hissed with pain. “Help him!” She shouted and felt someone lifting me up. “I love you Jiya and I am still begging for forgiveness.” I said and she just followed us. “I really love you Jiya.” I said and hiccupped. “You will be fine.” She said, holding my hand. “You should be happy Jiya.” I said and felt my eyelids dropping slowly. “Ajay!” She said, slapping my cheek making me open them again. “Call me again.” I said, looking at her with half-opened eyes. “Ajay! Your parents will not bear it so please don’t die.” She said again slapping me. “Slap me again.” I said, smiling at her. “I will if you promise to stay awake.” She said and again slapped me. “Ouch! It hurts, but do it again.” I said and then felt the stretcher below me. “I love you, Jiya.” I mumbled before I felt a gas mask covering my face. “I love you, Jiya.” I mumbled again before falling into a deep hole.
