My cheeks burned at his words, unable to meet his gaze. I hated that he could still get such a reaction out of me. I wanted to argue about it, but he did not seem to have the same intention.
Before I could open my mouth to retaliate against his words, His lips captured mine.
There was no hesitation this time.
No soft brush, no warning.
His mouth claimed mine with a hunger that stole every breath I had stored in my chest. It wasn’t rushed, yet it wasn’t gentle either.
It was deliberate, like he was making a point... reminding my body of every inch it once belonged to, which I hated and loved at the same time.
I felt my spine arch, helpless against his touch as he impossibly pulled me to him.
Our mouths moved in sync, every press of his lips coaxing mine to respond — and God help me, I did. I kissed him back with every bit of anger, longing, and confusion that had been tearing me apart.
Each second felt like it was unraveling something inside me I’d locked away long ago.
He tilted his head slightly, deepening the kiss. The pressure, the slow rhythm, then firmer. It was maddening. His tongue teased the seam of my lips, coaxing, tasting, claiming, and I swore I could feel my knees start to weaken.
A soft gasp escaped me, swallowed instantly between his lips.
His teeth gently grazed my lower lip, tugging in that wicked way that made my heart leap to my throat.
It wasn’t just a kiss. It was a possessive claim, like a stamp that he just sealed with his damn kissable lips.
A click sound fell into my ear when his grip tightened. Before I could comprehend what was happening, his hand steadied behind my head as he spoke in a low voice, " Don’t move."
My body went still at his instruction. I kept bouncing my eyeballs to get a glance at what was happening when another click sound echoed in the surroundings.
My eyes turned wide as realization struck me. How could I forget that Dave was not just any other person, but a famous actor?
Paparazzi roaming around him and following him was a natural occurrence. Why did I not think of it before?
I wanted to slap myself when Dave’s voice again fell into my ear, "They are distracted. Let’s move fast." He stated as he held my hand and ran towards the apartment.
Without giving another thought, I tightened the grip on his hand as I followed him.
Within seconds, we reached near the entrance when I pointed towards the parking area, "Let’s go there."
Dave nodded, and we rushed into the dark spot where nobody could see us. As we approached a car, I pulled Dave with me, as we sat there. I shushed him and tried to locate them.
The surroundings were dark, so I could not make out the faces, but I could make out two shadows frantically searching for something. I quickly ducked and turned to see Dave.
His breathing was calmed, while mine still felt shallow and frantic.
There was no light in that area as all the lights had blown out after a bad rain. Like any *responsible* management should do, they kept delaying the repair, but today it came to my use.
Shaking off those ridiculous thoughts, I focused my gaze on him. The darkness made it difficult to figure out his expressions, but his eyes shone like a predator. My body shivered as the memories of that kiss started to cloud my senses.
I turned my face in another direction, forcing myself to focus on everything but him when a hushed voice came from the other side.
"Where did he go?" A man’s gruff voice came. I wanted to look, but couldn’t take a risk, so I tried to focus on the voices.
Answering the question, another man’s shrill voice came, "I don’t know. I told you to click the pictures from afar. They must have heard the clicking sound."
The frustration in his voice was evident when Dave came forward. I hurriedly tried to pull him when he covered my mouth as he retrieved his phone from the other pocket.
My eyebrows furrowed at his action. What was he trying to do?
The question was soon answered, as I saw him opening the recorder application and tapping the record button. I wanted to ask about his intentions, but firstly, I signalled him to remove his hand from my mouth.
I marked in my mind to ask about the recording later and listened to the reporters’ conversation.
"Where did they go? I saw them entering the apartment, but after that...God, we could have gotten that woman’s face." The disappointment in his voice was evident as another one replied, "Who cares about that? At least, we got Dave’s face. By tomorrow, we will be promoted and will have a fortune in our pockets."
I sighed in relief knowing they did not capture my face, nor did they saw me.
I shook, thinking I dodged a bullet when the same person’s words fell into my ear, "Also, we just have to post these clippings and the rest work would do Dave’s crazy female following." He laughed at the end as I felt my blood turning cold.
Holy cow! How can I forget about his crazy fan following?
Though my face did not come into those clippings but my back yet one picture was enough for his fans to find my identity, filling my phone with angry calls, spam texting, and of course, crazy stalkers.
I wanted to cry so badly. In these past years, Dave never interacted with me, so there were no chances of any commotions related to his dating life. And the marriage thing was perfectly done under tight security.
I was still crying over how could my life and fate could be so cruel to me when one of them shouted, "Who is there?" My eyes widened.
