Erika put her bouquet in Lileth's grave. She arranged it and then sat down.
"I didn't really throw it because I wanted to bring it here. I know that's for the next ones to get married and you've experienced getting married so you don't need that. But I still want to give that to you," she said then looked at me and smiled. She tapped her side so I sat next to her.
"Lileth, I want to thank you for your sacrifices and allow me to stay with Dave. I promise I will take care of him as you take care of him. I can't be better or equal but I will do everything I can so that when I bring him back to you on the day of our meeting, you will not accuse me of leaving him."
"Erika," I called to her.
"It's okay, Dustine. I know you too together in the next life. What matters to me is that you are here with me." I never spoke again. I just let Erika talk to Lileth.
"Don't worry, Lileth, I won't leave Dustine. Thanks too and for letting me stay with him. Don't worry either because Dustle will grow up who will recognize you as a kind aunt who loves her and the reason her mommy lived."
Erika continues to talk to Lileth. I know that everything she said was true and from the heart. Honestly, when I proposed to her, she said it was ok for her to be with us. She didn't want me to replace Lileth as my wife. She still wants to say that Lileth is my wife.
But I know that she deserves to be happy, too. If I were to be asked I would be happy with my daughter. But seeing her dedicate her life to my daughter makes me realize to make her my wife. And I know, Lileth wants it too.
And lastly, I want Lileth's with me also. I may be selfish because I saw them both, but that's the truth. I know Erika is aware of that as well. I should be thankful that she still brought me back into the person of the woman I also once chose to be with.
I really feel like Lileth isn't gone. Because every day I'm with Erika it's like I see Lileth in her. Erika is very different from the woman I loved before. Lileth hardly really differentiated them except for the face. I really want to think that they changed faces as two.
I feel Erika's head on my shoulder, she has already stopped talking. I hold her hand and put it in my lap.
"Thank you, Dustine."
"Where?"
"By loving and giving me the right to be your wife. I promised I will be a good wife and a good mother."
"No, thank you for loving me Erika."
"Dustine?"
"Hmph?"
"Will you believe me when I say that I love you twice as much?"
"What do you mean?"
"Before, when Lileth was not in my heart, I could tolerate you and it's ok if I could not see you. I couldn't talk to you, but when her heart came to me I loved you even more than I love you. I can't stand you, I can't stand not seeing you and not talking to you."
I smiled but little by little my tears flowed. Hearing her saying that proves to me how Lileth's loves me.
"Lileth loves you so much, Dustine. I feel that now that I have her heart. She's going to die if she can't see you."
"Erika?"
"I am not jealous. I am her, she is me. We are one and I am happy there."
"Just remember that I love you."
"I know." I hugged her and closed my eyes. I love them both, and I am happy that they are both mines. I opened my eyes and saw someone watching us while smiling near a big tree. A mini forest near here in the cemetery.
"Lileth?" I said.
"Dustine?" I looked at Erika who was surprised while looking at me and then looked back at the tree but …… Lileth was no longer there? "Dustine?"
"I think I saw her ..." Then I look at her and smile. "I think I saw ….. Lileth." She smiled at me and then looked around.
"She gives us our blessing?" she asked but I just smiled.
"Yeah, yeah." I pulled her closer to me and hug. I close my eye and feel her embrace. I will promise I will take care of her. I will never repeat the neglect I did before, I will never repeat what I did before.
What happened to Lileth and I will serve me a lesson to take care of my wife. My wife who owns my first wife's heart. Is it a blessing? Am I blessed? I think, yes. And I wouldn't miss any chance to be with her.
I will no longer send in anger, before taking action I must ask first. I need to listen to her first and above all learn to investigate. I will fulfill with Erika my dreams in a family that I never did with Lileth. And I will avoid doing to Erika the hurtful things I did to Lileth.
Lileth might be my past, but I will still be with her in the future. Because what happened to us will be my guide so that Erika and I don't break up and our relationship is even stronger.
Lileth did not deserve what happened to her. But as Dylan said… . everything happened for a reason.
And whatever that reason is…. Only God knows whatever it is.
"I love you, Erika."
"We love you, too, Dustine."
This is my life now, Erika is my wife now and I will take care of her. I will love her. No matter what happens, she will never experience Dave's Wrath.
