"Hey." Theo says to me and I peek up at him, forcing a smile.
"Hey." He's wearing a tight black shirt with ripped black jeans and a worn jeans jacket with all sorts of signs sewed on it. The outfit really goes well with his dark hair and stubble, and tattoos.
"Are you okay?" he asks, looking worried. "You seem sad. It's because of him, right?"
I know he's talking about Axel, and before I can stop myself, I glance at him.
Gina is leaning her head on his shoulder, and he's giving me the glare that could kill.
What an asshole. Is he really mad that I'm talking to Theo, while he has another girl basically all over him?
Seeing him like this shocks me to the core. Just this morning he's been telling me that he loves me, and not long before that, he's been begging me to be his girlfriend. We haven't slept apart for a week now, I'm staying at his house and my dad kicked me out of the house because of him. We are basically in a relationship and now he's like that?
Having some slut gripping his thigh and basically laying on top of him, right in front of me?
"He's an idiot." Theo whispers in my ear and I nod.
"He really is. And he's a dick."
Theo chuckles and I look up at him, shrugging. "What? It's not like he isn't."
"I'm just surprised to hear you cursing, it's all." Theo defends himself.
"Well, I'm not as innocent as I may seem." I smile at him and he smirks, looking down at me.
"Oh, my God, you guys are so cute! Did you ever go to that second date you wanted to go on?" Amber suddenly squeals beside me, looking at me and Theo.
I tense up completely. What the hell is she doing?!
"No, we didn't." Theo answers for me, and my cheeks heat up.
"Why not? Sophie, I so ship you with someone who actually deserves you." Amber presses, and all air is knocked out of my chair when I hear Axel scoff from across the table. She looks at him. »Want to say something, dear brother?«
He gives her a fake smile. »Nothing, just that this is rich coming from you of all people.«
I make eye contact with Liam. »Let's just go, please.« I say quietly and Amber's head whips in my direction. »We are not going anywhere, Sophie. Not until this asshole makes up his mind on what he does or doesn't want.«
»Oh, what? You're gonna tie me up or something? You stay here for all I fucking care, I'm leaving.« he says with a poisonous intonation and leaning forward to look into her eyes, completely ignoring my presence.
As I watch him act like a complete dick, my disappointment and sadness slowly turns into rage. »You know what, Amber. He's right. He should leave and by this point, I don't think he even is able to decide anything anymore, at least not anything revolving me.« I say and smile at him. »I hope you have a good time with Barbie here, Axel. Bye.«
His eyes shift from Amber to me but he doesn't move an inch. I can see that he's fuming mad but I don't let it affect me. He hasn't got any right to be angry. Before he even opens his mouth I know that he is about to say something terrible. I know him that much to see that he's hurting and would do anything, say anything to make me hurt, too.
»Really? You're the one telling me to do anything? Sorry, sweetie, I don't think you're in a position to do that considering you live in my fucking house at the moment.«
I laugh. »What? You're gonna throw me out? By all means, do so, Axel. Be aware, though, that that would be the last thing you'd ever do or say to me.« I state and I can actually see a the wheels in his brain moving, his expression focused on me for a few seconds. Then he huffs and stands up. »Let's go outside for a second, come.«
Amber snorts. »Oh, no, I don't think so.«
»Amber, shut the fuck up! My nerves are hanging on a thread here and I'm this close to losing it, so just shut the fuck up! Sophie, come outside with me. Now!« he yells so loud his veins portrude on his neck and the whole restaurants looks at us. Nobody movwes or says anything for some time, until I shake my head and calmly say:«No.«
Honestly, fuck him and his mental problems. I've had enough.
He looks like he might combust and he suddenly grabs Liam's arm and pulls him out, the Amber's, ignoring her protests, until he gets to me and he grabs me around the waist, lifts me in the air and starts carrying me out of the shopping mall.
I'm beyond embarassed and completely fuming at him but he ignores my punches until he comes out to the parking lot and puts me on the ground, everybody running after us. I squint my eyes at him and slap him across the face. »Don't do that to me ever again, Axel. I'm not a toy you can pick up and carry around, I'm a human being, one who is so pissed off at you at the moment that I can barely see straight. What the fuck is wrong with you?!« I shout in his face.
»Wrong with me?! You basically just threatened to leave me and you're asking what's wrong with me? You're fucking metal!« he yells with all his might and I barely restrain from jumping at him and punching him in the face.
»You threatened to kick me out of your house, Axel, I think we're fair. Oh, no, wait. I just fucking walked in on you cuddling your fucking ex! You go and kick the shit out of my friend who I went to the movies with and I have to be calm and watch you cuddle with your ex, please!«
He rolls his eyes and tugs on his curls, groaning. »You're fucking crazy, I swear. I was not cuddling with that skank.« he says and I put my hands on my hips. »Yeah, right. I was having hallucinations.«
He waves his hands in front of my face. »See these? I kept these to myself, Sophie! It's not my fault she touched me!«
I let my mouth fall open. »Not your fault? It's not your fault, Axel?«
»No, it's not!«
»You could've told her not to fucking touch you! Or you could have sat opposite of her! Or, I don't know, Axel, maybe you could've not even met up with her! How do any of these options sound?!« I yell at him and he takes a deep breath. »I had to meet up with her, okay? I just, I had to.« he says. »Just trust me right now, I'll explain as soon as possible.«
I narrow my eyes at him. »You mean you can lie to me as soon as possible.«
Axel takes a deep breath and goes to move towards me, when Theo steps between us. »No way, dude, you're way too emotional to be this close to her right now.«
Axel gives him a death glare. »You do not want to be fucking with me right now, Theo, I can't tell you how serious I am about that. Step the fuck away from her.« he says in his face and I watch Theo shake his head at him, wondering if he has a death wish.
»Fuck you, Jarvis. You think you're so tough but you're nothing but a spoiled brat, used to people doing whatever the hell you want them to do. Well, I'm not gonna be one of those people, you should know that.«
I know when Theo's words are out it's a matter of seconds before a fight begins and indeed, Axel's arm goes backwards, preparing to give a punch and I yell. »Axel, you hit him right now and I swear I'm never speaking to you again!«
His arm stops midway and he looks at me, clunching Theo's arm. His expression looks like he's just been betrayed and he takes a step back from us.
»Right, I see. Cool. Hope you two shits have fun with each other.« he says and literally spits on the ground next to Theo's feet, before walking away. Looking after him I notice Amber and Liam waking away as well, leaving me alone with Theo, who turns in my direction and lifts my face up to look at him. »Are you okay?«
I gulp. »Yeah – Yeah, I am. Or, I will be.« I answer, wiping tears from the corners of my eyes. He sighs. »He's such an asshole. I can't belive we used to be best friends. How the hell does a girl like you end up with someone like him?« he spits out the word 'him' like it's poison and I shrug.
»It just sort of happened, really. I don't think I had much control over it.«
He nods and tucks hair behind my ear. »So you really care for him, huh?«
I purse my lips. »I really do. I – I love him.«
Theo shakes his head in disbelief. »He really doesn't deserve that.« I wonder what I should reply to that, but he saves me the effort and starts walking towards his car. »Come, I'll give you a ride.« With no other option, I follow him.
