Cybernetic Evolution System Chapter 112

They halted in front of the robotic receptionist’s counter table. They opened the quests list and looked through it with a confused expression on their faces, before putting it away. They turned around and approached the three students. They were none other than Julia, second-ranked Magical Swordsman of the Class Two Magical Swordsman Department. Gregor Ironheart. He is fair-skinned with short black hair styled in a blob. He was dressed in the Grand Avalon Academy Combat Uniform with a brilliant long sword strapped to the side of his hips. He is the fifth-ranked Magical Swordsman of Class Two. Lastly, Draven Dalgrim. A fair-skinned, black-haired young man tied in a ponytail. He was also dressed in a similar combat uniform, but with an ordinary enchanted sword strapped to the side of his hip, accompanied by an oversized utility belt hanging around his waist. He is the second-ranked Magical Swordsman of Class One. They brought a chair to the table and took their seats. One is brown-skinned, bald, and carrying a small greatsword behind his back. He is Sylas Bralorn, the fourth-ranked Magical Swordsman of Class One. He removed the greatsword and placed it on the ground beside him, leaning against the chair as he took his seat. The other was fair-skinned, had tied his black hair in a ponytail, and held a brilliant, long sword strapped to his waist, accompanied by an oversized utility belt. He is Laden Dalgrim, fourth Magical Swordsman in Class Two. "How did it go?" Draven asked, looking at them. "We didn’t find him. We attempted to complete the quest ourselves, but we didn’t find the beast in its usual respawn area. We thought that it might have already been completed. So we came out swiftly, thinking that you guys might have already encountered him," Sylas responded, sighing in defeat. "But when we checked the quest list, we saw that the quest was still there, which means that no one has turned in the quests yet." "You guys haven’t seen Ezekiel walk out of the dungeon, right?" He asked, looking at the group with a tinge of hope in his eyes. Draven was stunned by his words. He shifted his gaze towards Laden. Seeing his expression, he understood that Sylas was telling the truth. Draven instantly fell into deep contemplation. "Are you certain that you didn’t uncover anything?" Julia asked, looking at the two young men before her with a bit of scepticism. The others also showed similar expressions, agreeing with Julia’s scepticism, as they were also about to ask the same thing. Before arriving here, they had decided that, until they caught the culprit, they would equally share the merit points earned from completing the quest among themselves for two weeks to recover the merit points they had lost. "If you don’t believe me, then go check the respawned place of the Flaming River Deer and see if you can find any traces of battle that suggest it was slain and taken away," Laden responded, his voice tinged with annoyance. He recognised their intentions, but he wasn’t willing to take their accusation lightly. "I agree," Sylas responded, his tone annoyed, "If you don’t believe us, then you’re free to go and confirm it yourself." He was already irritated that they had failed to capture the culprit, and her words only irritated him more. Julia and Gregor fell silent, their brows deeply furrowed. "Could it be that he was aware of our plans beforehand?" Julia muttered. They had all received an alert today stating that Classes Three and One would be combined, as Mr Fredric had been suspended for unknown reasons. There were already rumours circulating about how this was related to the incidents involving Ezekiel, Ivory, and the Descendants of the Zahara Clan. However, there had been no confirmed news yet. She hadn’t seen Ezekiel at the club today. Since he didn’t show up, she realised that there might be some truth to the issue. Julia realised that a big storm was about to unfold within the First Year Magical Swordsman Department through Class Three. However, the truth was still unknown, so she began to doubt whether Ezekiel was truly the one responsible for taking their quest, or whether Jaran had lied to get them to antagonise Ezekiel. Or, Ezekiel was aware of their plans beforehand and was manipulating them. If that was the case, it meant that someone here had leaked the information about their plans to him. Julia became confused about what to believe. "It could be," Draken responded with a sneer. "I don’t trust Jaran or any of those guys from Class Three to tell us the truth." "I don’t think that’s it. No one here is foolish enough to reveal our plans to him," Gregor replied, glancing at Julia as though reading her intentions. "Considering that he doesn’t have a good opinion of any of us, it would be even more foolish to do so, as the consequences far outweigh the reward." If the culprit wasn’t Ezekiel, then they couldn’t pinpoint exactly who it was. If it were found to be Esther, Ivory, or any of the top ten individuals on the rankings had decided to monopolise the quests for themselves without informing the others, it simply meant that the situation had become even more problematic. That would risk revealing the entire situation to the Disciplinary Committee, thereby putting them all in trouble, especially now that the Governing Council was currently looking into the affairs of the First-Year departments. The easiest way to settle on an agreement with one another. "One of us would have to remain all through the day to confirm whether it’s truly him or not. I’ve already fulfilled my part by going to investigate his whereabouts in the dungeon," Sylas said. "I have other important things to do, so unfortunately, I can’t continue to remain here," Julia responded. As club president, her time was already taken throughout the day by her club activities, and with the remaining hours of the day left, she wasn’t willing to spend the rest of her day here.
