Cursed System Chapter 61

RAGNA POV... My voice was calm—too calm—and that seemed to scare him more than anything else. I leaned in, my four eyes locking onto his. Cold sweat poured down his face as his body shook violently. "You’re the kind of human," I said slowly, "that I hate the most." "With a bloodline like yours, you were handed everything the moment you were born—status, wealth, beauty, a future so bright it could blind anyone who dared look at it—and yet the only thing you chose to do with that blessing was trample on people who were already broken beyond repair." After reincarnating into this world, I realized something about myself that I couldn’t deny no matter how hard I tried—I hated human selfishness more than anything else, a hatred carved deep into my soul long before I died back on Earth, This world was different. There were no cameras watching from every corner, no GPS tracking footsteps, no drones humming in the sky, no artificial intelligence judging morality or recording crimes—nothing of that sort existed here. There was only power, raw and absolute, and for the first time since my death, that power had been placed firmly in my hands, allowing me to dictate the rules of this unforgiving jungle. "You know," I muttered, my voice low and cold as I unsheathed the short knives from the dead captain’s jacket, the metal slick with drying blood, "being called a freaking devil’s son from the moment I was born wasn’t something fun, or honorable, or worthy of pride." ’I never had the chance to mingle with friends, never laughed with peers, never experienced the simple comfort of being seen as human. People looked at me and saw a monster before I ever opened my mouth.’ Only my family stood by my side... except for one bastard I would rather forget. "And you?" I continued, staring down at the boy with hollow eyes. "You had everything—friends, protection, guards willing to die for you without question." In the end, I took what remained of my prey. [Hidden Quest Completed] Wortham forest echoed with screams for hours before the Death God finally arrived to claim what was left. "I don’t deserve to die... by the hands of a bastard!" Those were the last words I thought I heard from the noble teenager as his body slowly lost all warmth, his eyes glazing over as life slipped away. "...Did I really just kill a group of people?" The words left my mouth weakly as I stared at my surroundings, my chest heaving violently as if my heart was trying to escape my ribcage. I took slow steps forward, my eyes tracing the scene before me—a grotesque landscape soaked in blood and gore, the fertile ground I once knew now drowned beneath lifeless bodies. "...Have I really become a monster? A Devil?" I didn’t know what I was supposed to feel. Should I be relieved that I had eliminated people plotting against my family? Or should I mourn, knowing that some of them had wives waiting at home, children who would never again see their father’s face? A crooked smile cracked across my lips. I was terrified of killing... and yet I had just slaughtered men—and a child. I wanted to deny the truth, to call it an accident, to pretend my hands weren’t stained by intent, but reality didn’t allow such lies. They were scum who tried to hurt my family, and I had enjoyed hunting them. I looked up at the bright moon hanging silently above me and wondered what came next. Is this the part where I’m supposed to feel guilty? Is this what it means to be a devil—some destroyer of humanity? Twenty minutes later, clouds began to swallow the moonlight, darkening the sky as if the world itself wished to turn away. I stood before the last body I intended to bury, a deep fissure carved into its neck. They wouldn’t have died if they hadn’t harbored thoughts of harming my family—that much, I was certain. I squatted down, placing my hands against the corpse to lift it. —and then my vision exploded with notifications. [Your Soul has Craved Flesh] [Host can no longer suppress the need for food] [Host shall begin feeding] [Your body can no longer suppress desire] [Host Hunger Activated] There was no time to think. The messages kept appearing, one after another, each one sending a chill through my spine as instinct forced me to read them. My body reeled backward, my mind lagging behind as disbelief rooted me in place. ...I understood what it meant. And that terrified me. "...What... the... f*ck?" I couldn’t comprehend what my body—or the system—was demanding of me, yet my strength drained away as if something unseen was siphoning it. My hands refused to let go of the corpse, my knees buckling as I knelt helplessly before it. For some reason, my mind began to blur the line between reality and instinct. Food. That was what it was telling me. I swallowed hard, saliva pooling at the corners of my mouth and slowly dripping down my lips. The scent filling the air wasn’t foul or rotten—it was fresh, intoxicating, delicious, numbing my senses while simultaneously driving me insane. I was hungry. Not the kind of hunger that could be satisfied with bread or meat, but something far deeper, far more grotesque. [Your Desire Shall Grow] [Host Desire Will Increase Every Second] ’What’s wrong with me...?’ I thought a bit afraid. Even as I thought it, my body betrayed me, inching closer to the corpse, my vision narrowing as it filled my sight. ’...It smells so good.’ Was what could come in my mind. My mouth hung open, and I felt something sharp pressing against the edges of my teeth, my head lowering inch by inch until— I stopped myself. "What the hell is happening to me...?" My voice trembled, my hands shaking violently as I stared at the body beneath me, realizing with horror that the true monster I feared might not be the world around me —but the Cursed awakening inside.
