Refusing to be dragged out disgracefully I stop to give him a befitting reply.
"Is this the way you treat your customers without providing an alternate solution? Take your hands off me, you fool"
"I am sorry ma'am but you have to leave. You are distorting the way for are expected customers"
Angry, I look at him "I said, take your hands off me"
In the midst of the commotion the manager came out to handle the situation. Relieved, at least he will handle the situation better considering how sensible he looks.
"What is going on here?" He asks in his elderly voice. He looks so frail, I hope he is okay.
"Sir, I was just asking her to leave because she doesn't have a reserved seat and neither is she here to meet someone."
"Oh, I see" was all the manager said as he zoomed out for a moment, thinking deeply.
Why is he taking so much time analysing I don't have the whole day, I am so hungry. This is a simple situation for crying out loud. Finally, he responded.
"So ma'am what would you like us to do?" He ask
Finally, the question I have been waiting for. "I am craving Chinese real bad, I don't know if there is something you can do? You know like work something out for me"
"So sorry ma'am but it is not possible. He is right, we are fully booked. Please kindly leave, you are disturbing the peace of everyone" The manager said but in a tone that lacks empathy.
"Excuse me? I.."
Without completing my sentence he grabbed my hand, trying to pull me out of the restaurant.
My goodness, can this day ever get worse?
First it was Adam, then the usher, now it is the manager. I feel like covering my face in embarrassment, oh God please help me. And just then, I heard Adam's voice
"Take your hands off my Fiancée" Finally, he decided to grace us with his presence, but unfortunately for me it was too late.
I was so shocked when the manager left my hand the moment he heard Adam's voice. I watch in amazement as the once confident manager shakes in fear and utmost despair.
Never have I seen another human scared of another the way he is scared of Adam. His whole being is shaking in fear, unable to look at his face.
For a moment there, I thought he would break into two considering how weak and fragile he looks.
"I.. I am sorry sir, I didn't know she was yours."
"Adam, it's okay, let go, the seats are filled."
"I know, but an exception can be made for us right?" He asks in his usual straight face and emotionless voice, directing his question to the manager who is still shaking profusely.
"Why is he so scared?" I wonder. Yes I know Adam is rich and all but is that enough reason to make him shake this way?
And besides, I noticed he isn't the only one. The doctors and nurses at Central hospital were also scared of Adam and all he had to do was say his name.
But the manager case is different because Adam is yet to introduce himself but it seems that wasn't needed as he happens to know who he is.
Adam is probably well known and I am the only one who doesn't know him, how sad.
"Yes sir, definitely. Please pardon my errors. It is the usher's fault, he didn't let your fiancée speak. Please, sir, forgive me."
I let out a "yelp" sound when the manger out of nowhere went on his knees pleading. He even went as far as holding my left, my God this is so embarrassing worse than I thought!
"Please get up and stop embarrassing yourself, it's okay you're forgiven"
Although I feel like punishing him for what he did to me, I just couldn't. He is old enough to be my father so how can I?
"Thank you, my lady."
I looked at him with a furrowed brow, who is he calling my lady? I wanted to correct him but decided not to, It's not needed.
Once everything was settled, the manager turned to the usher issuing out orders. Within no time, we were given the finest seat the restaurant had to offer.
I am so stunned at the turn of events, "This is nice. I like it." I said to myself with a smile on my face. But I couldn't help but wonder who Adam was.
Who is he?
First it was dad, immediately he heard his name he knew who his father was. And everything Adam does suddenly becomes perfect. He even forgave me, although I behaved indecently with Adam.
Walking towards the VIP section I can't help but ask "How did you do it?"
"Do what?" He asks, sounding indifferent.
"You know, get us a seat although it wasn't possible? And besides, we were given the best seats!" I exclaimed excitedly as He helped me to my seat. "Thank you" I muttered in appreciation.
"You were there and witnessed it all, so what are you asking?.." Wavering that behind him he continued "We have more pressing issues. But first, we need to eat or someone's stomach will get angry" he teased, raising his hand he motioned for the waiter to come.
"Welcome sir, please what would you like to have?"
Adam placed his order then turned to me and asked what I would like to have. Going through the menu, I finally made my choice.
"I want that and please do you serve smoothies here?"
"Yes ma'am we do"
"Good I will like that too, have it added to my order, thank you"
Adam became silent after he placed his order so I looked at him to see what got his attention only to find him staring at me with a sexy smile on his face.
"What?" I ask, raising my brow questioningly at him.
"Nothing, just admiring the view before me" he said casually like it was nothing, talking about the weather.
So pissed, I was about to say something but the waiter interrupted me bringing our order, wow so quick. Goodness, the food smells delicious! Wakening the hunger in me.
I hope it tastes as good as it smells, even better.. Grinning excitedly, I dive in devouring my food without a care in the world who is watching.. although no one is here by the way.
I mean, that is what VIP is all about right?
ADAM POV
Catherine is a foodie, this I have noticed, frequently I stole glances at her as she ate the last beef on her plate. From her expression I can see she is pleased and satisfied with the food.
But just to pull her leg, I ask "Want more?"
"No, I am okay," she said with a cute smile on her face.
"Tell me, other than food, what else do you like doing?"
"What are you insulting me or what?" She asks with a cute frown appearing on her face.
I couldn't help but smile as I asked,
"Why will you think that?"
"Because your statement implies that I am a foodie!"
"Well aren't you?" I ask, chuckling.
"How do you know I am a foodie?" She asked, obviously surprised I found out so soon. "Is it that obvious?"
"Yes it is, I noticed it when I had dinner at your place but now, I am certain you do." She smiled again but this time shyly, turning red on her cheeks.
After my meal, I decided to ask because I would like to know more about her after all. That is what this date is all about.
"So tell me Catherines, what are your hobbies?"
"There is nothing much to know really because it's just the normal stuff people do," she said, as she wiped her lips off any food particles.
"Like what, tell me" I said, as I relaxed on my chair, admiring her beauty, but I couldn't get enough of it.
I love the way she styled her hair, and the dress really suits her well. She complimented her dress with light makeup, that is if she is wearing any at all. I also love her voice, it is like music to my ears
"I enjoy reading books, shopping.."
"What books, novels?" I ask
"Yes. Romance novels to be precise."
"Okay, go on"
"I enjoy shopping, going on vacation and relaxing. These are things I can remember for now"
"What of movies?"
"I enjoy doing that too. What about you, what do you enjoy doing?"
"Working, I like burying myself in my work. Nothing brings me more joy than that"
"Really? What a boring life. I thought mine was, now I have seen worse" she said chuckling. "How do you manage to survive? Because no one can!" She exclaimed
"LOL, you have a strange sense of humor"
"Lol says the bipolar" she retorted, still chuckling.
Her laughter is enchanting, I couldn't help but laugh too. I am happy she is in a good mood now, earlier when I walked in and saw the manager pulling Catherine, something in me broke.
I couldn't bear to see her humiliated, how dare he! I will definitely deal with him, that I promise.
He is very lucky Catherine was kind enough to let it go so easily. If not, I would have fired him instantly! Is this the way they treat my customers?
Looking at Catherine, I can't help but remember the way she handled the situation, forgiving him even though he humiliated her.
It touched my heart deeply. All the women I have been with would have taken out their revenge and humiliated him more, were they in her position.
But Catherine, she is different.
"Adam" she called, her voice snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Yes?"
"Why are you smiling?"
Looking at her beautiful face, I smile even more "Because of your kind heart"
