"Excuse me, what do you mean by that?" I ask. Is he perhaps insinuating I bring different men into my bedroom?
He chuckled before responding, "Oh Catherine please don't take it the wrong way. Get those crazy ideas off your head"
I chuckled a little before responding
"You know you're funny right, you instigate things and then you act dumb"
He furrowed his brow looking at me again like he has no idea what I am saying. If he doesn't, I will explain it to him in simple tense
"Please Adam, listen to me okay, you are the one that needs to get These crazy ideas out of your head. Alright?"
"Oh my God Cherry, you never cease to amaze me." He said, still chuckling, as he crossed his hands while resting on the wall.
"And you never cease to annoy me, must be a special talent of yours" I said before opening the door of my room.
"I know women talk too much but yours is somewhat special. Although I shouldn't be surprised considering how you spoke to me at the car park" he said, adding the last part intentionally.
"You know, the last part isn't necessary right?" I ask sarcastically.
He just knows how to annoy me in ways I can't explain. Why must he open close wounds? Being the beast that he is, he has to bring up that awful experience I want to forget.
Lately, I have been caught making a series of mistakes. First it was the incident with him on Monday and now this.
Or maybe he is the bad luck because it keeps happening with him, whenever he is around trouble comes my way.
"You know what, stay away from me. Anytime you're near terrible things just keeps happening. To be precise you need to be 6 feet away from me, literally"
"And how do you plan on achieving this considering the fact we will be working together and you are supposed to be in a supposed romantic relationship with me? He asks innocently but, I can sense the sarcasm underneath.
He is a goat, "Not in the literal sense of course" I said to myself, chuckling.
Adam gave me the look that says I am crazy before walking past me entering my room. He took his time taking in every little detail in my room as he walked round. Before stopping to take a picture I took at my graduation during my masters degree.
Oh no, I freaked out. I don't like that picture, I look so chubby in it. But before I could stop him he already picked it, looking at it.
"You look so cute here" he said smiling
"For real?" I ask, I need to be double sure I heard correctly.
How can he say I look cute in it, or is he perhaps teasing me! Oh no, I covered my face in shame. Regretting why I printed the picture, it was due to mom's insistence.
Urh!
"Yes Cathy. You have lost so much weight judging from the picture"
"Yes you are right. That is the reason I don't like the picture, look quite chubby and ugly then"
Immediately I said that, he looked at me before responding, saying
"Cherry you can never be ugly. You are the most beautiful woman I have seen" from his eyes I can tell he isn't lying.
I couldn't help it but blush, my cheek turning red instantly. You know, I wasn't expecting it. His words caught me off guard.
Never imagined him as someone capable of saying something sweet like this. I think his tough and arrogant appearance is only a disguise covering the sweet man he is.
Wait, what? Adam isn't sweet at all, what am I saying? Or have I forgotten how he insulted me not too long ago?
"No way, Cathy, get back to your senses," I said to myself.
"Thank you" I said casually responding to his cunny-like compliment.
Returning my picture to its original position Adam turned, looking at me as if searching for something.
"You don't seem happy, is everything okay?" He ask
"How will I be when we're in this mess?" I ask, making Adam chuckle. He seems to lushh at everything I say, hmm how strange.
"Tell me again, how did you end up in my house, are you stalking me or what? And please don't give me the Michael is your friend crap, bla bla.."
"Trust me Cherry, that is the truth. I decided to take a break and Michael happened to be around. So, one thing led to another, I ended up here..with you" he said the last part with a mischievous smirk on his face
"Oh no" I said to myself, knowing what the next scene would be.
He closed the distance between us, standing face to face as he looked into my eyes, taking a stray of my curly hair playing with it before putting it in place.
Slowly, he descended his head bringing it close to mine. I closed my eyes anticipating his soft lips on mine but nothing of that sort happened.
Instead, he moved to my neck placing soft torturing kisses on my neck, setting every place he touched on fire.
"I want more, yes kiss me more" were the things that kept running through my head.
But as quickly as it started, it ended. Bringing a friend to my face, I groaned silently in displeasure as I opened my eyes only to be met with an empty space. Adam was already seated on my bed.
How, when did he pass me? I wondered
"Okay Catherine put your thoughts together and get a grip of yourself" I said to myself before turning to him.
I can't let this man keep breaking my defense all the time. Whenever he gets close to me I lose myself, forgetting time and place.
This is really bad, it can't go on like this.
"I wonder what is taking Michael so long, he left me all alone, oh God save me." He said out of the blue, maybe trying to relieve the tension in the air. But it didn't work at all, it only made it worse.
I feel bad now, he finds me boring, I wanted to cry. And yet he has done it again, breaking my heart.
"Do you find me boring?" I ask, unable to hold it in.
"No I don't." Came his short response.
"Yes you do" I said, as tears fell down my eyes
"What the!" Quickly he came to me, holding me close.
"What's wrong, please tell me" he said as he wipe the tears off my face
"It is nothing" I said trying to free myself from his embrace
"No, it is not. Please tell me, why are you crying? Is it because of what I said?"
"No" I lied
"Then what is it? Just say the word, and if.."
"It is you!" I said without thinking, my voice sounding awful even to my ears as a result of crying.
"Me?" He ask, shocked
Oh no, what have I done? I can't tell him the truth. What will I say now? I looked around hoping to find something I can use against him but didn't find any.
"Urhm, no I meant me. Sorry, everytime this keeps happening, I need to see a doctor and have it checked. Or what do you think?" I ask, hoping he believes my story.
He looked at me, trying to understand if I was lying or not. Unable to figure it out he ask
"Are you lying to me?"
"What, me? No, of course not" I said, still struggling to free from his hold which is next to impossible.
"Catherine" he called softly, his voice filled with need. "I don't want to leave but if I don't, I won't be able to" he said as he inhaled my scent.
"Then don't" I said, wrapping my hands around his neck unconsciously drawing him closer to me. The warmth of his body encircled me, calming my aching heart.
Whenever he is near me, I feel so vulnerable which is new by the way. I have always been a strong woman.
I don't think I like this new version.
Adam opened his mouth, about to say something but stopped when he heard his name.. What a terrible time for Michael to call.
