I hid in a tree knowing that werewolves were chasing after me and in terms of running, I would surely lose.
Terrified. I am terrified because I knew that any moment they might catch me. Death awaits me after that.
I looked around for anything that could help me, and suddenly I looked up at the tree. Above will be a good hiding spot. I decided to climb up on the tree with a twig in my hand. As soon as I got into one of the branches of the tree, I broke the twig into half. I was actually expecting that I would not be able to break it into half especially since its diameter is almost the same as my wrist. It is probably the adrenaline rush or I just suddenly got stronger.
As I had imagined, a sharp edge was made at the end of the twig that I broke into half. This would be enough, hopefully, for me to defend myself. My heart is racing fast as it did earlier.
After some minutes of being at the top of the tree, the sight of two werewolves appears below me. They were gritting their teeth, exposing the sharp fangs they have. They seemed to be more pissed and there were no hints of amusement in their eyes like they did earlier.
'You are really pissing us off!' Exclaimed by one of them.
I bit my lip as I remained at the top of the tree, I was silent not making any noise, I even caught my breath so that they wouldn't sense me.
"Why are you doing this to me?" I asked out of frustration.
To be honest, I have done nothing bad towards them. It was only the second time around that I met them but they were so eager to hurt me or whatsoever they were planning to do.
I still can't believe that werewolves were trying to catch me... I wonder if they knew my father or if they have the same pack.
'We will just taste like you,' One of them said, sounding more impatient than before. Then I realized that I said my words out loud when I saw them already looking at me.
To my surprise, one of the werewolves jumped off to shake the tree where I was hiding. I then fell out of balance from the tree because of that unanticipated move.
I tried to save my balance by extending my knees. Luckily, I fell on the ground in pretty good condition as I did when I saved Alexis. Something is definitely new about me; something has definitely changed about my reflexes... even my speed from running. I was sure that I was fast running away earlier, knowing that it took them more minutes to find me.
My strength also increased. It was evident when I broke a twig with a wide diameter, something that I would normally not be able to do so.
Was it the genes of my father? Probably. I have probably inherited some features that wolves have.
There it is again, I felt someone's eyes pinned at me. It started while I was climbing the tree earlier. Why does it feel like someone is watching over me? Or am I mistaken? Damn it, I really feel that I am not alone with these two wolves. It feels like someone is here watching what was happening.
'Stop fighting anymore, little girl. You're just making us more excited,' The devilish tone that the werewolf on the left had almost made me shiver even though I could only hear him in my mind.
I shook my head, refusing him. I have to protect myself no matter what. Aunt Vera and Uncle Silas, who are now my family, would mourn if I ever die here. I do not want them to go through the pain of losing someone... because I've been there and it was more than torture.
I gripped into the twig I was holding. I took a deep breath before advancing towards them. I was sure that they were a bit surprised by that move of mine. With all the force I have, I used the twig to stab one of the werewolves, the one who just spoke.
Luckily, I was able to land it well in the wolf's stomach. I was successful at doing it. He growled out of pain from that attack.
I was about to run after then, however, when I saw the blood coming from his stomach, I remembered how my father bled at that spot too. My knees weakened at the sight of the blood dripping from his stomach... the images of my father being attacked came flashing into my mind.
My hands began to tremble once again. The trauma from that night... is still vivid in my memory. I fell to my knees, unable to move. The blood continued to drip out of the werewolf I attacked earlier which is now lying on the ground while growling in pain.
The other werewolf was angered at the sight as he looked at me with rage and resentment.
He, then, advanced towards me who was still slumping on the ground. My whole body couldn't move; I couldn't run from him because of that.
Shit!
I closed my eyes when he was ready to devour me out of rage. I will probably die, this will be the end of me. Damn, how could I meet a werewolf even in my last breath? Why do I keep encountering them?
Am I... a werewolf too? Funny, I will die not even knowing my identity.
However, after a moment I still didn't feel anything. I just heard a loud thud that made me open my eyes. I was surprised to see the werewolf on the ground with an arrow on his head.
The blood on his head started dripping out too. That made me even paralyzed. All the memories happened to my family on that horrible night keeps flashing into my head, my bestfriend Sheon died, then my father... he died, even my brother.
That fucking blood makes me feel nauseous.
I was trembling, unable to decipher the whole situation. I was lost not knowing that someone was already coming in my direction.
