The sun was within the horizon, sunset began to refurbish the sky with vivid and affectionate hues such as pale red, yellow and orange. Pigeons were marching their way to the west returning to their respective nests. Delilah was standing on the French-made balcony on the West wing of her two-floored dwelling. Her jocular sense rose as she gathered her gaze through the nightfall sky, then to the pulchritude residence of the London marks where the lights illuminates like fireflies in the trees of the countryside. The chilly breeze swept tenderly on the young lady's face and on her bare skin making her giggle in frigidity.
She stooped and watched the vastness of the city. It was a perfect life. She thought, nothing could she ever wanted and dreamed than living in a peaceful and charming London. A life where she sets her day on a normal routine, watching the darkness as it covers the city during night, and sleeping comfortably on her tender bed with rhythmic consumption on her ears.
She sighed continuously as her thoughts were wondering that those things were just flickers and dusts in her mind. After all, Harper's leaving her a gargantuan responsibility in New York. The care and needs of Kristen and perhaps the educational funds. Thus, she cannot afford to watch the little girl grow in ignorance. If only Harper was schooled she couldn't be grilling barbecues on the street and counting foot from the mortals, eventually she could send Kristen to a fine school.
She sighed, but it was a fiery one. Excitement rushed through her fingers and within her voluptuous body, as she recalled the noble and luscious gentleman who pinned her eyes on the photographs. She couldn't resist those sexiness of him, the keen and robust physique that almost made her moan just by staring at it.
Delilah shook her head as the phone echoed. She rushed to the left side of her bed and swift the phone to her ears. She heard a few noises on the other side like singing bells and irritable car scratches. Then a man spoke...
"Hello, Ms. Grayve," an immediate husky voice planted on the man's throat.
"Oh, Mr. Dayson, you've called, what's the matter?" Delilah answered in surprise.
"We have a problem, Ms. Grayve," The man's angst voice marks in signature to the maiden's keen hearing. Mr. Dayson was a trusted lawyer of their family for over how many years. He was the legal practitioner of their various cases such as family business and their settlements in New York, the one who processed the papers and presented them to the court back on the early years.
"Is there anything wrong Mr. Dayson?" Her eyebrows raised.
"Your father Ms. Grayve," Mr. Dayson's tone became dubious.
"Yes, what happened to Papa?" Delilah's vigor words.
"He was dead." That long pause made her realize what the lawyer said. "Just this morning he died of stroke," Mr. Dayson frankly blew the final words that made Delilah's toes and knees numb and tremble. She became speechless for a few seconds and tears started to roll on her eyes without for taking a single sound. It was sudden, undeniably painful, the only family left for her when she was dead.
"Mr. Grayve, you need to come home, your father's always talking about her precious little daughter right before he died. He wanted to see you," Mr. Dayson continued in despair.
"Yes, I should," she finally answered but her tears continued to poison her face, she's been suffering a melodramatic sense for this whole week and it was never ending. From Harper's burial and now to his father's verbatim death. The veracity she cannot accept.
"And one more thing Ms. Grayve," His voice was drawing a sense of storm coming right before it talks.
"Your family business has been robbed by someone."
"What do you mean robbed by someone?" Delilah's forehead curved.
"Someone took over the company and nested his butt on it," the lawyer explained without any hesitations.
"What?" Delilah screeched in place as she tightly gripped the phone. The wires been stretched and was just as firm as a bamboo standing in vexation.
"And who could this man that robbed my father's hard works?" she asked with fires on her eyes.
"That thing is now under the roof of our investigation, funeral is first at stake Ms. Grayve."
"I shall come home tomorrow, I'll see to it that this man will pay for his arrogance," Delilah furiously answer grinning her teeth in annoyance.
"Thank you Ms. Grayve, I shall go," the lawyer dropped the line, and left Delilah whimpering in her bed. She was wafted by sorrow and treachery both times, this villainous person puts an arrogance during her father's funeral, such no respect, no shame and completely devious. She fisted the blanket in a watertight while her tears continued to stroll all over her face. Delilah was helpless yet burning with enthusiasm to punch the man on his tweezers when she face it.
Even though her mind was tumultuous, Delilah decided to go back to New York and take what's right for her.
