One month later
[Lucien’s POV]
I kissed her, gently at first , then with force, until she had no choice but to kiss me back. I held onto her tightly as if I might fly away into space and never see her again. My lips moved against hers, over and over in slow motion. And it was wonderful because, even though we had had sex many times since we had been together for a month, it was the first time that our love felt whole, solid, real, and not like a dream or an illusion.
She knew it, too, and her hands were everywhere on me, holding onto my hips and shoulders, stroking my face, pushing my hair back from my eyes and pressing kisses all along my jaw, down my throat to my chest, which was pressed flat against hers. She didn't need me to tell her where to put her tongue. We both could feel each other's passion, so close yet so far away at once. “Why? Didn’t you like the sex?” I asked.
“What? Of course, I did. It was amazing… in fact, too amazing. Sometimes, I just feel like things are too good between us, and whenever things are good in my life, something always ruins it,” she replied.
I pressed my lips softly on her forehead and held her even more closer. “That’s all in the past, my love, and nothing is going to ruin this perfect moment we share, okay?”
She heaved a thoughtful sigh. “That’s all in the past, you say, but why do I feel like I haven’t completely escaped my past?” she asked.
“You know what? I know what will make you feel good. How about I make a dinner reservation and we go out this night to have seafood at your favourite Chinese restaurant?” I proposed, trying to cheer her up.
I could hear her stomach knot tightly and I looked down at her to see her face squeeze into a frown. “Ew. That’s just disgusting,” she said, having an irritated look on her face.
I was slightly taken aback. “But why? You love seafood,” I stated.
“Maybe in the past, but now, the thought of it makes me want to puke. Oh, the smell and that fishy taste… I need to use the bathroom,” she stated and quickly left my side and hurried over to the bathroom where she began to vomit and cough loudly, as well as splitting irritably.
My fingers began to drum on the bedside table as I began to think constructively. Looking back on the past week, she had started to find foods she liked in the past disgusting and had started eating a different range of foods with an increased diet.
Thinking about it now, I had found her strangely not as light as she used to be when I carried her up today to the bedroom after which we had made love, and my eyes glanced over to the calendar as all the pieces slowly began to fit into the puzzle.
It had been thirty days… exactly one month since I had welcomed her back into the house as a hybrid and had accepted her with open arms. During that period, we had spent all of our time together; having dinner dates, watching late-night movies, visiting amusement parks, shopping and even running errands together and often stopping by at the convenience store. Not once had she needed to get a pad or tampons.
I clenched my fists tightly in anger as I heard the water running in the bathroom.
I grabbed my clothes and hurriedly wore them back, then closed my eyes with one destination in mind. I needed to see Celeste.
