Tory's POV
It's been two weeks since I started helping Mr. Banner question Nate, every day he gave me new questions right after evaluating Nate's progress. According to him, everything is going well, Nate was starting to know the right responses to certain things and I was happy.
He and I got really close over the past two weeks and I could no longer deny the truth - I like Nate - like a lot. I've spent the rest of my two weeks thinking about him, chatting with him, talking with him and it just felt right.
But then again, it wasn't right, I'm still dating Rex. Though now I'm confused, I don't even know if I'm still in love with him. Lately, he's been acting odd, barely calls me or texts - just because of the day I had been at Nate's house and I missed his call several times.
I had apologized a thousand times but he wouldn't listen, then he started complaining about me neglecting him because of the fundraiser - what am I supposed to do? Ignore it just so he and I could go do the same boring game playing at the arcade?!
Since he refused to see reasons I decided to leave him be for a while, tomorrow is the day of the Date-A-Thon and after that is done and dusted, he and I can fix this relationship of ours.
Janelle, Joanne, and Rachel were soon going to come to my place for a sleepover, that meant we were gonna have loads of fun especially with mom out of town.
I had taken my bath that evening and put on my pajamas and was gently rubbing Trudy's fur as she slept when the girls suddenly barged in my room and just like that Trudy woke up and barked.
" Shhhh! They're my friends" I said to her and she seized her growling before she got down from my bed and smelled them one of after the other.
" I see she's suspicious huh?" Joanne asked and Janelle rolled her eyes before she bent down to pet Trudy.
" Hey there pretty girl, I'm Janelle and you can totally trust me to give Tory a tough time!" She said as Trudy just stuck out her tongue and wagged her tail at her.
" Wow, she seems to like you already"
" Tory, it's because I'm a dog person, Joanne's a cat person so..."
" Whatever" Joanne said as she plopped on the bed with Janelle and me.
" Well, well look who's here!" Rachel yelled as she pulled Tia into my room.
" You guys! I'm busy." She whined and we all gave each other knowing looks.
" Too busy crushing on your nerdy boyfriend?" Janelle teased as she opened a pack of chips. Toni looked so shocked at Janelle's statement.
" W- what?"
" We know you're into Troas so come sit down here in the gossip council meeting," Janelle said as she chewed her chips.
" I don't know what you're talking about!"
" Really dude? I saw you guys the other day, kissing like your life depended on it - in the men's room"
She hit her forehead with her palm in embarrassment before she sat on the chair by my dresser and glared at me, making the rest of us laugh.
" What were you doing there Tory?"
" I was peeing, the ladies room was occupied," I said as I tried not to laugh.
" Ugh! You can't tell this to anyone! - none of you!"
" Fine, but why? Troas isn't that bad. He and Nate have been getting along very well." I said, opening my lemon drink with one hand and holding chips on another.
" Troas isn't bad, he's just a little too frightened. I'm not ashamed of liking him anymore."
" Then why aren't you dating?" Joanne asked.
" Because he hasn't asked me out since I told him to give me time. When he does, I'll accept."
" Or you could just ask him"
" What? The boy does the asking, not the girl, Tory!"
" Whatever" I scoffed.
" Well since speaking of asking a boy out, I asked someone out," Joanne said with a smile and we all stared at her expectantly.
" Well?" Her sister asked and she giggled " I never thought he'd a free but he did!" She said excitedly.
" Who did?" Rachel asked making us aware of her presence as she lay on the couch with Trudy. She usually kept quiet when we were talking about our love lives because she was the only one whose relationship was as steady as hell! She didn't wanna hurt our feelings or something. I've told her to share her secret and she just says she was lucky to be with Jake. Whatever.
" Zach"
" Zach? I thought you said he's into Trent?" Her sister asked excitedly.
" He said he only gave into his feelings for Trent because... I didn't seem to like him"
" I told you! I knew he liked you at first" Rachel said slapping Joanne on her back.
" Ow!"
" What about you Janelle?" Toni asked and everyone tensed up a little before Joanne laughed nervously and said " let's just say she's already kinda married"
" What?!" All of us asked in surprise. Of course, we knew her father was planning on marrying her off to a rich businessman in Ghana but she was sure that her mom would stop him.
" Yep. My dad's an idiot - thinks I'm one of his items for sale but I'm still gonna date that Marshall guy from the club. Fuck marriage" she said indifferently.
" Can y'all stop feeling bad for me and let's talk about the fact that Tory is totally in love with Nate though" Toni pointed out.
I jolted as I heard the words " in love with Nate". " I said I kinda like him, that's what I said!"
" Okay, she likes him, kinda," Janelle said and the rest of them giggled.
" Whatever, let's watch a movie. After which you guys are gonna help me with tips on my relationship." Toni said.
" Ask Rachel for relationship tips!" The rest of us yelled and Rachel laughed.
" Let's hope your fundraiser works love wonders Tory" Toni said dryly.
