"Who cares about you?!" He blurted out and my whole body froze on the spot as I was trying to understand if I had heard him clearly or if he actually did mean what he said.
"What do you mean?" I asked with my shaky voice.
He didn't seem to respond on time as he massaged his temples while I stared at him in shock waiting for an explanation.
"I'm sorry" he said after some time after rubbing his face with his palm but I wasn't going to receive a mere apology for the word he had just said.
"No don't tell me sorry, why the fuck would you say that to me!" I yelled in pain but he didn't say anything else and kept on staring at me.
"You're making me feel like I'm being used for your own desires here and you just confirmed it with those words" I said in annoyance and the expression on his face changed to anger mixed with sadness or so I thought.
"Is this what we're based on now? You think I'm using you?!" He questioned but his voice came out louder than I had expected and I immediately felt bad for saying something like that.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't just happy with what you said"
"I fucking didn't mean it Lenora, and it had just came out of my mouth but you had to run your tap mouth over didn't you?" He scoffed while I buried my head in shame.
I was trying to keep our bond, our relationship by doing what he asked of me but I had somehow made him mad at me again.
"I'm sorry, I'll try my best to apologise to the devil's son" I said as he stared straight into my eyes, without replying to me, he stood up from the bed as he walked out of the room.
I pinched the bridge of my nose in embarrassment, why the hell did I need to say something like that? It was obvious he was doing it for the both of us so we could have a better life and I just had to ruin everything.
Sighing out loudly, I crashed my back on the bed while staring at the ceiling. I had no idea on how I would show my face to the beast after making my decision and I definitely don't know how he would react to it.
I was about to leave my room to meet him and apologize but I didn't even know if I had the privilege to go to his room and if he wouldn't rip my head apart.
"He won't hurt you, trust me" I remembered the words Asher said to me and I decided to trust Asher as I clicked on the door knob and left the room.
Strolling down the hallway, different thoughts came to my mind but I tried to shove them away so I wouldn't end up going back to my room.
I had made it this far away from my room and going back would only mean I'm a coward and I might lose my Asher for good, I think it was time I proved to him that I was strong and not a weak wolf.
I reached the door of his room as I contemplated on knocking on the door or not. I had no idea what would be the next to come for me.
"Just do it Lenora!" I said to myself as I laid my hand on the door but couldn't find myself knocking.
"I can't," I muttered to myself as I immediately removed my hand from the door.
I kept on pacing back and forth on the hallway, contemplating on whether or not to just knock but I didn't have that much courage.
I finally decided to hold my breath and accept whatever outcome comes, even if it isn't good then I would know I didn't chicken out but decided to be a strong wolf for once.
I went closer to the door again as my breathing increased but as I was about to place a knock on the door, the door opened and I came eye to eye with the beast I hated so much.
His eyes were not that bright golden colour anymore but was now back to it's usual emerald green that attracted me to him. His eyes were the only part of him that makes me believe he's still as normal as us sometimes even though I didn't like him.
"Will you keep on staring or come in, the door is finally opened for you so you don't need to spend thirty minutes contemplating on whether or not to knock" he said and I instantly felt embarrassed as my cheeks changed its colour.
He knew I was standing behind the door as these while, of course he would know, he was a powerful lycan anyway and would have a great sense of smell.
That was why he was able to tell that Asher had kissed me earlier on.
"I'll close this door if you don't come in" he said and I realized that I had been lost in my thoughts all this while.
"Oh yes" I whispered as I walked into the room after heaving deep breaths and the moment he shut the door behind me, my heart raced even faster.
"I'm here to apologise..." I didn't finish my statement before he walked up to me and the next thing I knew was my body was now pressed against his as he hugged me tightly with his hands on my waist.
I had no idea why he was suddenly behaving like this but I couldn't push him off, he felt so vulnerable with me with his neck buried on my chest as he kept on releasing heavy breaths.
"It's hard for me" he groaned into my ear while I stood still with his body wrapped around mine. After some time he released himself from me but his hands were still on my waist as his cold hands touched and lifted my chin to look into his face.
I was confused and couldn't put down if this was the same man who was brutal and ruthless to others.I had thought he wouldn't spare me if I came any closer to him after my decision but I definitely hadn't expected a tight passionate hug.
"Why do you have to make it this way for us, why do you need to go to him when he doesn't want you, he doesn't deserve your kind heart Lenora" he said but I wasn't here to listen to him talking ill of Asher.
"I'm not here for that Alaric!" I called his name and it surprised me that I could muster up the courage to call him by his name to his face.
Releasing his hands from my waist, I took some steps backwards at least a little bit farther from him.
"I'm here to apologise for disobeying your rules"
"You didn't disobey me, you were blackmailed into disobeying me" he responded almost immediately.
"No one blackmailed me and I did it out of my own will, I missed my grandmother and I wanted to see her to be sure she was okay"
"Then would you want your grandma to stay here with you? I honestly can't let you leave my sight anymore" he said and for some seconds I saw the look of worry on his face, I was getting caught up into his web but I wasn't going to let myself be caught as I removed my eyes from his face.
"I'd rather my grandmother be free in her house than to be a prisoner here"
"Don't say that, you're not a prisoner here and I'm doing this for your sake" he responded and I scoffed.
"My sake indeed, just to be clear, I was serious about my decision and I love Asher, please don't ever hurt him and leave us alone. I was here to apologise and I think I've clearly passed the message" I scoffed.
"Now if you would excuse me!" I said and reached for the door but he pulled me by my arms until I crashed on his chest and his grip on my waist was so tight that there was no way I could break free from him.
"Don't say that to my face, please" he begged and my brows furrowed in confusion at the sound of his voice. They were so soft that I would never even dream of him begging with that soft tone of his voice.
"Why?" I found myself asking with my hoarse voice as I stared into his eyes that were somehow filled with sadness.
He didn't reply to me as his eyes were fixed on mine before they trailed down to my lips, I had no idea why I wasn't moving as his head came closer to mine and I could feel his breath against me.
Before I could realize what was happening I suddenly felt his lips on the side of my lips sucking it hard but he wasn't kissing my lips.
His kisses trailed down to my neck as he sucked on them before he suddenly stopped and at this point I didn't want him to stop.
My wolf wasn't resisting either and it made me question what was happening, this wasn't supposed to happen once you meet your mate or perhaps it was because he hasn't mated me yet that was why my wolf still yearns for Alaric's touch.
"Leave!" His voice suddenly turned cold towards me as his grip on my waist was loosened and I stood in the middle of the room with different questions pondering in my head.
"Why?" I asked again.
"Just leave Lenora!" He roared and I suddenly became angry rather than scared at the tone he used on me.
"I am not leaving here until you tell me what got in you!" I fired back and he turned to look at my face but this time his eyes weren't as soft as they were before.
His hands held the side of my neck lightly as his thumb traced on a particular spot and it took a while for me to notice that was the place where Asher continuously kissed me, he must have left a hickey.
"Please leave!" He said with a warning tone, I wanted to instantly leave the room but my body doesn't want to leave just yet and I felt ashamed of myself for feeling this way for him despite the fact I already had Asher.
"At least can I ask a favour from you?" I asked but he didn't reply to me and I guessed it must have been a yes or a no, either way I was still going to say it.
"Just forget about anything that happened here, I shouldn't have let you close to me when I clearly have a mate I loved" I said but he cut me off before I could add more words.
"You love him you claim, but why did you let me touch you that way? It was because you liked it but you're fighting it" he said as he looked into my eyes with his intimidating eyes.
"You have no right to meddle in my relationship affairs"
"It's not a relationship when he doesn't even like you, he wants to use you to get to me because he knows I would never hurt you and you're just following his words like a damn puppet, grow some fucking liver Lenora!" He yelled and I found myself boiling in anger at those words.
I knew he never liked Asher but does he even know how those words hurt me badly?"
Without thinking about my decision, I raised my hand to hit his face but only realized my grievous mistake when he held my hands tight before they could touch his face and his eyes suddenly changed to a bright golden color and I knew I had crossed the line.
