“Why does it hurt your eyes?” Caroline asked; her voice was a little unsteady. “Was it because I’m not beautiful?”
Benjamin’s brows furrowed. “No, it’s not that, Caroline—”
Caroline walked past him. Leaving him and Nanay Dolor confused about her reactions.
“Ah, you’re so insensitive,” Nanay Dolor muttered. “You hurt her feelings.”
Benjamin raised an eyebrow. “What did I do?”
His mother hit his head with a ladle. He flinched in pain and caught his temple. “Follow her and apologize, you stupid scumbag.”

BENJAMIN knocked twice on the door before he gently pushed it open. He found Caroline sitting on the side of her bed, facing the dark shore of Panglao Beach in and opened the door to their room’s balcony.
