"What are you doing here, Bella?"
She looked up at his beautiful silver eyes and almost drowned before she caught herself. She had to chase that woman or else she wouldn’t have those eyes to drown in.
"Oh, Evander...my cute workaholic. You always forget when you're working."
He raised a brow, sensing mischief and seeing through her act.
"Forget what?"
He asked, and she leaned in, whispering, but it was loud enough for the now squirming woman to hear.
"You know I like a long warm bath after rough nights"
His eyes bulged, and he almost covered his face to laugh.
"Ohh..yeah..."
He said and pursed his lips tightly to stop himself from laughing, all the while biting the insides of his cheeks.
"Now, you get it, honey. Are you joining me for breakfast?"
She was playing with his shirt, pouting , winking and doing all sorts of funny things with her face. She wasn't much of a seducer, and her appeal came naturally, but when she forced herself to do things like this, she looked like a ten year old begging for a toy. He found her cute. He found her adorable. He found in her every single thing he wanted in the universe. The woman who was now standing straight, pressing herself into a corner, as if there was no more room in the office, cleared her throat.
"Alpha, I’ll be on my way now."
She said and adjusted her skimpy dress.
"You're that waitress, right?"
when the woman looked up at Isabella, she was looking rather solemn.
"I just wanted a better life."
Evander furrowed his brows.
"Everyone has the same income. What do you mean?"
She looked at him.
"Does money make you Luna of a powerful pack like this?"
Evander was taken aback. She shook her head and left, closing the door noisily behind her.
"So...."
He said, mischief written on his face and she poked his stomach. "ow"
he said, laughing hard.
"You should have seen how your face looked like. Making all that pouty faces"
she scoffed and folded her arms, looking away from him.
"You better stop"
she threatened and when he refused, she made to leave, making a giant Humph sound. She felt a tug at her wrist and turned back, to see him holding her wrist, rubbing circles in her wrist. She stood away, glaring at him jokingly.
"Closer, baby."
He said, tugging at her wrist and she dragged her legs towards him, making faces and rolling her eyes. He was smiling widely, holding and tugging her wrist to come closer. She soon stood before him, looking down, biting her lip, while he smirked, sifting his fingers through her hair. She didn’t realize when he took her to his chair and seated her on his lap. His fingers were still in her hair, removing it from her face and weaving it between his fingers.
"Bella?"
She looked up, making eye contact and finally allowing herself to drown in it.
"The Luna is such an enviable position."
he started, watching her expression. It didn’t change, and he continued.
"I want to hand it over to you."
He opened her hand and placed his in it.
"Along with my life, my heart, my body, my devotion, my sincerity, my pack. I want to give it all to you. My trust, my faith, every single thing, love. I want you to have it all."
He entwined his fingers with hers and smiled up at her teary eyes.
"Will you marry me? Will you spend the rest of your life with me?"
He tilted his head to look at her face and she avoided his eyes.
"Would you want me as your wife?"
He smiled up at her.
"More than you'll ever know, babe. I want to be able to call you my own in more ways than one. I want to be able to hold hands with you as my woman. I want to be able to be by your side ever so faithfully. Ever so true."
He said and kissed her cheeks, while she lowered her head.
"Really?"
He nodded.
"Really."
She smiled, showing her top teeth.
"Why not? Why would I refuse to spend a lifetime with you who makes every day feel like a journey? Like paradise"
He smiled.
"Likewise."
She smiled and he tapped her lap twice.
"Wait."
He stood up and took out a little red box.
"It's your favorite color."
She laughed as he came back to her, showing his finger, the one he wore his extremely large silver ring.
"You know this ring, right? It was my father's."
He opened up the box and in it lay a similar ring.
"I carved this one out of it. It's a heart. Just half of it, though. The other half is here. "
he said, holding up the finger again. That was when she noticed it. He took her hand and slid the ring on her finger.
"We are engaged now."
He said and she nodded, putting her finger next to his finger and it formed a perfect heart. He smiled and held her close, very close to his heart.
"Official call from the alpha of full moon to the alpha of new moon. I am alpha Evander, alpha."
The older man replied.
"Alpha Evander, nice to hear from you, again."
There was an air of lightness and likeness and Evander smiled from the other side.
"I wanted to inform you of my marriage, Alpha. I am getting married."
The other man laughed.
"Well, its nice to know that you didn’t stay hung up on your mate. How about her mate? Where is she from?"
Evander answered swiftly.
"She is Mateless and she is from split moon.”
"Split moon?"
"Yes, alpha."
The man sighed.
"You know that's not possible, Evander. Have you ever seen a Luna emerge from another pack? It might happen elsewhere, but not in split moon. I'm sorry, Evander. No matter how much I like you, since you are way better than that sick bastard, Cole, but you can't marry her. Unless she is properly a member of full moon and she can't be identified by any other pack as their own."
"Properly" stuck at the back of his mind as he slid next to her sleeping form later at noon.
