Jace
I pull up in the driveway way past ten o'clock. Amy looks wearing a yellow sundress with her hair in a high ponytail. She seems to be occupied in her own thoughts, probably good thoughts about a few minutes ago. I smile at my own recollection of the morning.
"I hope Sophia is not so mad at me for making her wait for too long," Amy says while we walk to the porch.
"Don't worry about her. She won't be any less excited," I give her hand a reassuring squeeze and she gives me a small smile. I hope yesterday's events don't affect Amy's visit.
"Hi, Amy. I am so happy you made it," Sophia beams at Amy when she walks into the house.
"Ofcourse I had to come. I wouldn't miss coming over to see you for anything else in the world," she says with a reflected grin. Except some hot sex with Jace, I add for her though I don't say it out loud. Sophia gives her a pat on the arm and leads her out of the living room leaving me ignored as usual. I am kinda getting used to it, though. I don't like Sophia's attention. It can be very annoying and uncomfortable. All that matters to me is Amy's happiness.
I watch the two women as they giggle while disappearing into the kitchen. I can't wait for Amy to move in with me. We haven't talked about it since I awkwardly brought it up. Maybe I need to convince her more. What can I do to make her realize that we don't have to be far from each other?
I need her to be where I can protect her and take care of her like she deserves to be treated. I sigh sit down on the couch. I fight the urge to follow Amy in the kitchen and whisper dirty things in her ear while she tries to concentrate on what Sophia is telling her. That would be fun for me, but I don't want to ruin her day by making her spend it blushing.
"What are you up to, bro," Patrick hoots as he walks into the living room with a shit-eating grin.
"Why do you look so excited? Has your wife given birth?" I tease him with a smirk.
"No, not yet but soon," he replies and takes a sit beside me on the couch.
"Isn't that going to be next week?" I remember with shocked eyes.
"Yeah, and I am very impatient," he says with a husband pride full in his. I think it will be fatherly pride next week.
"You seem very happy about it," I say.
"Why wouldn't I be? I have spent all these years with Alexa and the only thing that has been missing between us is children. I can't stop smiling when I realise that soon there will be little ones running around the house and making little messes. Our family will be complete now. I hope Jose and Sophia get there soon so we can have more children running around the yard and calling you uncle," he says.
"Aren't you worried about the diapers, the vomiting, the crying and the sleepless nights?"
"Not really. Every good thing has a price , but it will all be worth it," he replies with easy confidence.
"Whoa! You will make a good father, you know that?" I punch lightly on his arm and he grins.
"Thanks man," he says.
"Alexa will be very proud of you," I add.
"I believe she is already proud of me. I try very hard to be very good for her. It is her love for me that I live for," he says and shakes his head slightly.
"I understand that now," I nod at him and his lips lift into a small smile.
"Thanks bro. I am glad that you understand that now. Amy must be a really good influence," he says with a smirk.
"She is," I say with a hidden smile and take a quick glance at the corner that leads to the kitchen. Muffled giggles escape from the kitchen.
"Wait, she's here?" Patrick inquires with wide eyes.
"Yes," I respond.
"How long has she been here?" he inquires.
"Not long. I just brought her a few minutes ago," I respond.
"What? You should have told me," he stands up from his seat and I eye him with complete confusion.
"Why, do you have any problem with her coming over today?"
"No, ofcourse not. It's just that Alexa has been wanting to talk to her since last time. She really misses her," he responds.
"I didn't know. Sophia is the one who asked me to bring her over so that they could spend the entire day destroying the kitchen. I didn't have any idea that Alexa missed her so bad," I can't believe how crazy my family is over my girl.
"It's not Alexa alone. Even Ellen and the kids want to see her," he says.
"What? Is Amy everyone's new favorite?" I ask and throw my hands in the air.
"It is not her fault that she is nice," he shrugs his shoulders and heads for the door.
"I am going to inform Alexa that Amy is here," he says without looking back. I mentally roll my eyes at how much Amy is wanted. She deserves to be with people who love her and care so much for her happiness. She belongs here, that is why she should move in with me. I wonder if I had brought home a badass butt kicker home as my mate. Everyone would have freaked out, especially Alexa. She would lock herself in her house when she would hear she is here. Sophia would be at loss of words, for once. I laugh at the thought.
Amy standing with her hands on her hips infront of me snaps me back to reality. She is wearing a green apron with pictures of bananas on it. It matches well with her dress.
"What are you thinking about? Must be something funny," she says and her lips lift into a coy smile.
"It was funny," I respond.
"Are you going to share it with me?" she asks me while batting her long lushes in an adorable way that makes me want to roll my eyes.
"Come here," I stretch my hands out to her so that she can walk to me. She doesn't hesitate to walk into my arms. I rub my nose over her belly. She smells like flour and apples. She smells like pie.
"You smell good," I murmur into her apron.
"That is the pie Sophia and I are baking. Do not change the subject," she looks serious and I can't help but smile at her insistence.
"Alright. I was just thinking how much my family loves you," I say and her face splits into a smile.
"And?" she beckons me to continue.
"And I wondered how my family would have reacted if I brought home a badass butt kicker as my girlfriend," I add and her smile turns down into a frown.
"I am also a badass sometimes, though I think I could also kick butt if situations compelled me to do so. I think your family would adjust to her behavior because they love you so much and respect your choices," she says.
"Always so thoughtful," I complement her and the smile returns on her face. I pull her closer and snuggle deeper into her chest.
"I thought I had Patrick's voice so Sophia asked me to check," she says.
"He was here."
"Where did he go?" Amy inquires while looking around the house.
"He went to inform Alexa that you are here," I reply without looking at her.
"Why would he do that?"
"He said that Alexa missed you so bad and wants to see you," I reply.
"I miss her too," she says and I look up into her eyes.
"I missed everyone," she adds.
"See? You belong here. That is why you should move in with me and live with us. That's is when no one will be missing the other," I try giving it another shot. She gives my arm a light swat.
"Nice try, but I am not changing my mind," she says.
"A man can hope," I say and she tilts her head back to laugh.
The door opens and a heavily pregnant Alexa walks in into the house with a beaming grin.
"Amy, it is so nice to see you again," she says while talking slow calculated steps. She must be really heavy. Amy breaks out of my grip and dashes to the heavy mother.
"Oh Alexa, I missed you so much," Amy exclaims as she wraps her arms around her in a quick hug that is made awkward by her big bump.
"You have no idea," Alexa responds.
"You look so healthy, you must be working out," Amy says, most probably being sarcastic.
"Are you kidding me? I just practically jumped out of bed when Patrick told me you were here," Alexa caresses her bump while talking. Amy purses her lips to stifle a laugh.
"You did that?" Amy inquires in complete disbelief.
"Trust me. I was literally crawling when I made it to the door of this house," Alexa replies and Amy shrieks with laughter.
"How is the little one?" Amy inquires as she bends a little as if to speak to the unborn baby.
"He's been busy in there lately. I can't wait for him to join us," Alexa replies and Amy gives her a warm smile.
"I am also very expectant to meet him," Amy says and Alexa laughs softly.
"Now what are you girls up to? Patrick told me that Jace said you two were up to destroying the kitchen," Alexa says and Amy shoots me a glare. I lift both hands in air in utter guilt.
"I wouldn't be surprised if he said that," Amy smiles at my expression and turns her attention back to Alexa.
"So what are you doing?" Alexa inquires with a small smile playing on her lips.
"Sophia is sharing some of her special recipes with me," she replies.
"Really? Sophia is so wicked, you know that? She refused to share her special recipes claiming that they are a secret. I have lived with her all these years but you just came yesterday and she is already sharing them with you?" Alexa says and shakes her head in disbelief.
"You can come and join us. I don't think she would mind," Amy tells her with a smile.
"Ofcourse she won't mind," Alexa waves her off.
"I am going to fire at her right now for being a traitor friend," Alexa says with forced seriousness which quickly dissolves into a huge grin. Amy holds Alexa's hand and leads her into the kitchen, leaving me ignored, double as usual.
