After mother and Jace leave, my apartment suddenly feels deadly quiet. I frown at the lonely feeling that starts creeping up my skin. I turn on my laptop and start with the assignments from work. I try hard to concentrate but my mind still drifts to Jace. I wonder what he is doing right now. Did he go back home. He is probably telling Sophia that I will be there this weekend. I bet she is giving him her cheeky smile and Jace mentally roles his eyes. I can't seem to bring myself to the reality that I am alone in my quiet apartment where I am supposed to be putting all my concentration to my work. What happened to me? My future and my work have always been the only things that mattered most. But after Jace, nothing seems to have the similar importance it had before.
I am tempted to send him a text but he just left. He would probably think of me as the clingy type of girlfriend. I force myself to work on my assignments until four o'clock in the evening. I get up from the chair and stretch. I need to get myself back into the working shape of mind. I don't want to go stale on my job. I can't lose this job. It has everything I ever wanted: all it's privileges. I don't want my employees to start reconsidering why the gave me the job in the first place.
I promise myself to do some more work in the night probably after talking to Jace on the phone. My stomach feels empty all the eggs and bacon from earlier gone. I decide on eating outside in a restaurant since I won't be able to prepare something quickly enough before my grumbling stomach turns against me.
I decide on eating from the restaurant Jace took me during our dates. I want to brand them as dates because we always had an amazing time together. I hope Jace will one day take me to a fancy romantic dinner where we shall talk about nothing but us. Then the aftermath could be in a large bedroom decorated with roses and sweet smelling candles. I imagine the bed would be a queen-size bed with only white covers and pillows. He would would carry me into the room wearing a lovely dimpled smile while looking at me with adoring eyes.
Wait... wait a minute. Do I see a wedding band on his hand when he places me on the bed. Am I day dreaming about my honeymoon? Isn't it too early to even think about marriage?I shake my wayward thoughts off and enter the restaurant. I must be hallucinating. I blame it on the hot sun.
I take my time walking back to the apartment. I received a text from mom saying that she had already reached home, and that she misses me already. I miss you too, I replied her. When I reach the apartment block, a petite blonde approaches me with a huge grin on her face. I start searching in my mind if I have ever met her.
"Amy," she calls me. I don't have a tendency of forgetting people. How come she even knows my name? She reaches me and and I start shortlisting the names of people who could be knowing my name in this town.
"Hey. Am Diane. You probably don't remember me. I work at the reception of DM Publishing Company. I was the one who received you when you come looking for the job," she introduces herself in a friendly tone not showing that she is a bit hurt that I don't remember her.
"Oh, yeah. Diane," I faintly remember a jolly girl who showed me to Mr. Damien's office.
"How is your job going," she inquires.
"It is going great. I love it," I reply with a small smile.
"I am glad to hear that. I know you have a lot of potential," she says.
"Wow. Thanks. I don't get to hear that a lot," I tell her
"You deserve it anyway," she waves me off with a smile. "Do you live here?" she asks while looking at the apartment block.
"Yes. My apartment is on the third floor," I reply.
"That is great because I just happened to live just in the block over there," she points to the apartment block three blocks from mine.
"Maybe we can have coffee someday or have lunch as workmates," she suggests.
"Sure, I will think about it," I give her a big smile.
I never thought I would run into someone in this neighborhood who knows me. I enter my apartment with a smile on my face. I am energized to do some more work feeling that there are more people who have faith in me than before I went out for lunch. I find a text message from Jace on my phone.
Jace: How is your day going?
Me: It is going well. I met someone who knows me.
His response is almost immediate.
Jace: Really? Who?
Me: Her name is Diane. We met at work when I had gone for my job interview.
Jace: So she works at DM?
Me: Yes. She works at the reception.
Jace: She must be good news if she is the reason your day is going well.
Me: She is a jolly woman. She lives in the neighborhood.
Jace: Are you two friends already?
Me: We haven't talked a lot but she asked me if we could do lunch sometime.
Jace: And you agreed?
Me: I just told her I would think about it.
Jace: As much as I like having you to myself, it would also be fun if you made some friends in the neighborhood.
Me: That is so selfless of you.
Jace: I can be selfless sometimes but I am very well known for being selfish with what is mine.
Me: I will keep that in mind.
Jace: You should because I am not yet ready to share your attention with anybody.
Me: Oh, really?
Jace: Yeah.
Me: I share your attention with many people and I am fine with it.
Jace: That is because I give you the most attention.
Me: You are the man I have given the most attention.

Texting with Jace can never end. He is such good company even when he is not around. He tells me how Sophia is excited about this weekend. I also can't wait to see her and spend some time with Jace's family. I miss all of them including the children. I wish time could move so fast maybe I could skip Friday so that tomorrow is Saturday. Yeah, I plan on maximizing my weekend.
I can't see my bedroom the same way. The memories of what I had with Jace are still vivid in my mind. There is no doubt in my head that I want to experience it again. His hands on me. His lips caressing every inch of my skin. I want it, again. I can't to squirming in the chair where I sit in front of the dresser. There is a faint smell of him still lingering in my room. Oh god! I am so drunk with him. No one has ever captured my heart like he did.
