At The Crossroad Chapter 32

Chapter thirty. James' POV. This might be the end of everything we have shared, my mind tells me so. I know that not telling Zack things might lead to this. He is someone who wants facts, who wants reasons for things happening to him. He can get frustrated easily, but he should have a fact for why that frustration is happening, everything will somehow become normalized. That is just him. And I love him for that. As I walk to the guest room, I know that I'm only making it worse, but then, my ego will find a way to get under my skin. We are of the same sex, so obviously you cannot really blame us for keeping to our ego. Though, I know I should be the shield of this relationship, therefore keeping everything in intact, but at the moment, I am not even in intact. Out of the front door, the cool air meets my face. For a reason, I realize that the coldness I'm feeling right now must be what Zack is feeling in his heart, mentally. I feel so cruel. Really cruel for making him feel like that. I push those hurtful thinking away, and walk off. As I move away from Zack's place, I notice darkness in the area. There is no light, but that doesn't freak me at all. I continue to walk. Being that son of that Mafia, I have learnt things, and ways of sensing danger. If I should be attacked right now, I have my way of getting out of it. It isn't about boasting or anything of such, it is fact. Something I have witnessed and has happened to me. I don't feel to easy, as the air blowing around me gives me an hint of something unusual. My mind is wavering, my brain calculating. My eyes wanders as well. At this time, I decide to cross at a building, where I know there's darkness. More darkness calls out your enemies, well, in the Mafia world, yes. They'll think you're now more helpless, but no, not in my own case. I will be using his strength against him. As expected, I hear a footstep, but then, it stops. The owner is smart. He wouldn't walk again, or he is but is very silent. No, I close my eyes, unmoving, and listen in. The person most likely must have stopped. It is all based on logic reasonings, and probability evaluation. I smile at the mistake he gives out, and lower my head just in time I hear a whip. The only light making me see hazily is the moonless sky. The person had wanted to kick my head with his legs, but successfully I dodged it. I don't see his face, and as a camouflage, he is wearing black which will very much blend his body with the black walls around me. Maybe this is a bad idea after all. Patience and listen. He comes at me again out of the blue, and I dodge his punch, barely. Then, before any movement, I sweep my left leg, lowering to the earth. As my leg hits one of his legs, I use my right to clip his other leg too, just before he can skillfully hide again. Hooking him, I shift such that his frame drift, meeting harshly with the ground. Successful with that, I use my hands to hit a part of his shoulders where I know he will he rendered useless. His arms will be numb to effects. Even him won't be able to use it. "Who sent you?" He grunts, as I use my forearm to clip his neck, holding it against the ground. I still haven't seen his face clearly, by the way. Suddenly, a light shines upon us. Due to my instinct, I look over to it. Wrong move! My eyes close instantly, but my other senses are still useful. I ramble off of my attacker, and stand up, using my hands as a guard from the light. It is a headlight, if I'm correct. Someone walks out of the car, and stand in front of it, distance away, his frame covering the lights. I am able to look over there, but still I can't see anything. My hearings and feelings is what I'm using to judge right now. "Still competent as ever." It is a man's voice. Wait! That's father. I can't even believe I'd use that word for him. He doesn't deserve it. "You sent someone to attack me." "No, to test you. I told you there are this new gang, chasing after you. They are dangerous, and Idon't know their identity yet, so I'm urging you to train and be careful. They can attack you just like I have planned." He explains. Is this a father? I see no sense in this. On his account, he is trying to keep me safe, he is caring, he is protective, he is a darling. No, none of this worths him. "I don't need you." Says, my cracking voice. "And do you not ever send men after me. I would kill them next time." "They will die for you, James. You know it. It doesn't matter. I need to come with me." "And why should I do that?" "Because you have value. You have those you care for." Yeah, only I have those I care for. He? He is a monster. See? He cares not. Not even for me. I know this point isn't valid, but who cares? I am angered. "You've seen the letter, haven't you. That they are. They are murderers. You need to know about them, and by that, you have to come with me, James. Please." I feel numb at his "please". I look at him with deadly, unfazed eyes, and walk over to his car. Near him, I start to see the guards behind him. They are six in number, and damn, they are husky. Some of them are even hefty than I am, which is a plus. Back on Father, "how do you know about the letter?" I will catch him in his lies. I will know if this is a brainwashing plan of his at me, or not. "I have my ways." Oh, he doesn't need to explain that part. I know it already. Plan A has failed. Hmm. "How do I even know that the letter wasn't send by your men? Maybe those gangs are the ones behind it all? How can you know?" Father smirks, and walks closer to me, enough for me to smell the stiff point of his cologne. "If I was my old self, this men would have been dead by now. Why? If you don't trust them, then I won't trust them. Death will favour them then." He pulls back to where he was standing, his eyes glinting a smile. He is a monster, I repeat again. I flare my orbs, shocked. "Come on, James. The night is not on our side." I have no choice. I enter into the car, and let his men drive us away.
