I sigh. "Where to start." I mumble. "There are three families in The Vale, Black, Aldine, and Grinmorte. As you know my family are wolves, the first true royal family then there are Aldine, they are vampires and they are not so interested in politics but money and status, they control the wealth of the crown and the treasury for thousands of years. Lastly Grinmorte, the current ruler of The Vale, the family had been the advisor and protector of the royal family for centuries until the war, then they set their claws in the throne and have been in power since. Grinmorte are Fae, but they aren't as sweet as they are in your human books. " I spit out with hatred.
"My ancestors ruled fair and lawful, where trials were held if you were held in wrongdoing. The first king was Axel Black, he was my great grandfather, he was kind.. too kind, much to his downfall, he trusted too easily but not to the point where he wasn't stupid. He knew that Aldus Grinmorte was planning to overthrow the throne, which causes the great war. It lasted fifty years and Axel killed Aldus, who was the queen's lover.. little did he know, his own mate had plotted to murder him, blinded by false promises and more wealth, she succumbed to her death at the hands of Axel for her betrayal. Axel has abandoned the throne to his son Gregor Black, a mare child at the time. Axel's last command was the trial of Aldus Grinmorte, to which he won and was killed by impalement until death. Soon after the trial, Axel died, unable to live without his mate and Gregor was murdered soon after his coronation." I shrug.
"The Vale succumbed to new leadership and the realm continued, the people mourned. Nothing had been the same ever since in The Vale. My family left that world behind and we settled in the human world. Locus Black settled in New Zealand with the people who dared follow him and my ancestors."
I look down to my mate to see if she fell asleep but see she is crying softly into my now wet shirt. "Mate?" I stroke her face gently.
She sniffs back her sobs. "I can't believe your family went through t-that." She cries out quietly, her voice croaky.
I smile at how much I love this woman in my arms. "I love you." I kiss her on the head. "It was a long time ago. But as you can sense, our family and Grinmorte are far from alliances. They fear a rebellion with me as Alpha." I say stroking my mate's hair. "I have quite the reputation in The Vale." I say amused.
Must be the countless amount of times they've tried to assassinate me, only amounting to the large following I have who want me to overthrow and be the true king.
"What reputation?" She asks, her beautiful face is wet and blotchy.
I smile sadly and wipe her tears away. "I was not always the man you see in front of you Sora. I do not have people fear me for no reason." I state, ending the topic.
"Let's eat and then sleep." I say as I carry my mate. She weighs nothing to me.
"Kane?" Sora whispers to me quietly.
"Hmm?" I look down at her as I sit next to her at the table in the kitchen. She is overthinking again.
She does not look at me. "Never mind.."
I nod and frown as she seems lost in her own thoughts. I drop the curiosity on my side. Surely this is not what she signed up for when she accepted me as her mate, or even as a human boyfriend of sorts. Humans' life are simple and mundane.
Humans know nothing of The Vale, if they did they would not be alive, simply because they would not stand a chance against the forces that find this world pathetic.
"Mate needs time." Dex says as I place the plates of food in front of me and my mate.
She gives me a quiet "thank you'.
"We don't have time... if tomorrow goes bad. I need you to accept the consequences of me using it again" I say to my wolf Dex.
"If it protects mate." Is all he says before he blocks me out.
I sigh and watch my mate eat. It's quiet.
The last time I used my ability was the day I lost control and wiped out an entire clan. I slaughtered children, women.. I have no regrets but I would be lying to say I do not see their faces haunt me at night. What I did could have been avoided if not for the Grinmorte family. I will never bow to that sniveling pale backstabbing sick family.
If this lunch is just simple formalities, I will play this game of theirs, but once they let sights and twist plots that involve my mate come clear. I would happily once again unleash my reign on their pathetic house.
I am not Axel Black, these people do not come close to bothering me.

"Come, let's sleep." I say as I take my mate's hand.
"I love you Kane." My mate says looking at me. Finally.
I relax and admire my mate, picking her up and carrying her to our bedroom as she giggles softly.
I drop her on the bed as I rip my shirt off and stare down at my mate hungrily. "Let me show you how much I love you."
