Huge thuds of footsteps was approaching me but I didn't give up running. The footsteps were like that of a big wolf running. The effect was so scary and I continued running but my little feet made it hard for me to run. As I continued to run I knew if I don't want to get caught I have to hide. I looked around to see where I could hide but all I could see is trees. Then I remembered what my papa told me about the usefulness of a tall tree when I'm in trouble. Papa told me that when I'm in trouble I should climb a very tall tree that doesn't have it's branches bent to the ground. Since I was a child I was good climber. Now is the usefulness of it.
All that is happening now were so confusing to little me. I left my house not quite long to visit my grandma. I know I'm too young to roam about the pack but since my pack is a very peaceful one even a crawling child won't be in anyway hurt. But now coming back, this peaceful pack now seems so disturbed. I could here distance screams which I don't know the cause. I just said a prayer to the moon goddess that things will be well.
My papa is a very peaceful man even with the way he is a powerful man. He wouldn't even allow other packs to war again him. He would try to make peace at all cost and even give them what they want. This didn't always go well with my mama because she was breed to go for war. Being mated to my papa she didn't have a choice but to be calm.
My papa's calmness is the reason we are not too rich like other packs who loves war. Well I as a child love the peace of our pack. We don't even fight because fighting his a punishment in our pack.
I could hear the wolf running towards the tree that I climb. I don't know how true it is that wolves can't climb high trees but I did it anyways. Then I remember that we werewolves have sensitive smell, so I needed to mask my smell. Even in my confuse state I still remembered what papa told me about how to mask my scent with a leaf. I quickly cut a leaf and the squeeze out the juice and robbed it on my body. That was how I did untill I was sure that my scent was really masked.
The wolf smelt the tree and ran back to the woods. I sighed when it's scent finally left the vicinity. I was too afraid to get down because I didn't even know if he just masked his scent like I did.
After a while, my legs were starting to go really nub and painful. I slowly got down from the tree and with my leg touching the ground, pain was sure inevitable since my leg was trying to get back to normal. I quickly checked my surroundings to make sure the coast was clear. I took to my heels. I needed to warn my papa of this strange happening. I ran as fast as my little leg could carry me but I started to slow down when I saw a body lying on the ground. I moved closer and saw that it was lifeless. I was so scared that my already pounding heart skipped. This is the first time I would see a dead man. Although I'm eight years old and a very pampered one, it was easy for me to know that it is a patrol guard that was lying there lifeless. I didn't know who exactly it was because blood and dirt had covered his face.
I thought thats some sort of a beast would have don't this so I kept running to go relate all I saw to my papa but the more I ran the more I see. It was like war had happened in our pack. I was so scared that I cried out for my papa and mama. I ran so hard not minding if I could hurt myself. I didn't even mind if my heart will suddenly jump out. I was too terrified to stop.
Not only were bodies of men lying everywhere, but women, pups too were not exempted. Even building were burnt down. This isn't a war it is a mass massacre. Even wars people have to fight back but all I'm seeing here is just the bodies that belongs to us. I looked at the pack house, although it was still standing but it was stained with blood.
This was the thing my papa have been trying to avoid all these years. I then think in my heart that this would be done by rogue wolves who are looking for a place for their packs. I move closer then I saw lot of wolves which are not from our pack. I haven't been to other packs so I don't know where they are from and I'm still too young to be able to identify a rogue.
Today is the first time that I appreciate I wasn't a big guy. At age eight, I still look like a five year old but and this was very disturbing to mama been that an Alpha breed should have been more built than that talk more of a whole lycan alpha. A normal lycan has the ability to grow three times faster than a normal werewolf stature but I didn't even match up to a normal alpha wolf. Papa was not disturb since he is just a normal alpha wolf but when he was mated to my mama he became a lycan alpha.
I sneaked into our pack's hall that looked like a throne house . It was then I realized that none of this was the work of a rogue because I know an alpha if I see one. I saw more than three alphas standing in the pack all.
"Now we should move to the next pack since this is done" one said.
In their conversation I discovered that it wasn't because they had personal grudge with our pack or papa but because they have greed for more wealth and vast land. I wondered why they are doing this. They killed everyone in our pack. That seem not so fair on my papa.
Yes my papa and mama where are they? I scanned the room to see if I would see them, then I saw a figure lying on the floor at a corner. I stealthily moved closer then it became my mama. There was lot of wounds on her body.
"No" I cried softly.
Mama is a lycan and a very strong one. She do tell me stories of how she would war beside her father and take down hundreds of wolves in minutes. I've not seen my mother fight before but I've seen her train and I know she's very good. I looked again and saw lot of wolves that were not ours on the floor.
