The sound of her phone woke her from her peaceful sleep and she jumped out of bed with an aching heart. Calhoun was still sleeping despite the loud ringing. She grabbed her bed robe and took the phone out of the room so as not to wake him up.
It was only Lisa.
"Aria, you won't believe what just happened!" Lisa screeched on her end.
Ariana smiled as she walked towards the kitchen with the phone clutched to her right ear.
"What's up, babes?" She asked.
"Alice Brentwood just called me."
Ariana shrugged. "What's the big deal?"
Lisa hissed and Ariana could already imagine her rolling her eyes.
"You don't get it do you?" Lisa cried out.
"Nope, I don't," Ariana said as she got to the fridge. She pulled it open and took out a bottle of water. Last night was full of so much love making she was feeling dehydrated and God knew she needed the energy and liquid to speak to Lisa.
"Well, Alice Brentwood just called, begging me to come back to work!" Lisa screamed in excitement.
Ariana almost spat out the water in her mouth as she heard what Lisa was saying. Alice going back on her words to beg someone! Impossible!
"You are lying!" Ariana declared as she made her way to the stool by the kitchen counter. Her legs were still sore from all the love making, but the news she got made her ignore the pain as she sat on the long stool.
"I won't call you this early in the morning to lie to you! Alice called and the next thing I am going to say would probably make you throw up so brace yourself..." Lisa announced dramatically. "Alice wants you back! And she says she's sorry about everything!"
Lisa was screaming in excitement but Ariana had gone into shock. "What?" She blurted.
It made no sense fro the all powerful Alice Brentwood to beg for her to return to work or even as for her forgiveness. If it were really true, then she was the first in the world to have such accolades! What!?
"Yes, Aria! I didn't believe it too until I called one of her ex colleagues in the office confirmed it. Ever since Mr. Lawson, your boyfriend, came to the office to speak to her, she has suddenly changed! It is like a miracle! Alice is no longer a screeching monster! They say she is now gentle and polite! Can you believe that?" Lisa asked.
Ariana opened her mouth to speak but nothing left her lips. The same Alice she knew was probably never going to do the things Lisa had just said. But, when she mentioned Calhoun...
"Are you sure, Calhoun was there?" Ariana asked in a small voice.
The information was too good to be true and she had told Calhoun to let everything be. What could he have told her to make her change?
"Yes, Aria. He was there with a lot of guards! I saw it with my own two eyes!" Lisa said.
Ariana took another gulp of her water and shook her head. Maybe things were really turning out differently. Maybe this was truly her happy ending and someone in heaven was fighting her battles for her.
"Aria, I am so excited. I am going back to that office and I am going to ask her to increase my salary by a million! I deserve that much!" Lisa said and Ariana could almost see her flick her hair to the side.
Ariana smiled. "I am happy things are finally turning out great."
"Yeah..." Lisa replied. "You sound sort of off, are you okay?" Lisa asked.
"Yeah, I am fine. Just happy and shocked, I guess," She replied.
"Oh shit!" Lisa exclaimed and Ariana felt a jolt in her heart.
"Lisa, what is it?" Ariana asked for she sounded distracted like she was talking to someone else.
She waited for Lisa to respond but she didn't. The line went static and Ariana became worried.
"Lisa?" She called once more.
"Aria, this is not good..." Lisa finally said as she came back to the phone.
Ariana frowned as she didn't understand what she was saying.
"What is it Lisa? You are scaring the shit out of me right now!" Ariana cried out. Jumped off the stool she was sitting on and started pacing. By this time of the day Lisa was surely still home. So what could have happened was it her family?
"Its Ethan..." She trailed. "Go turn on the television," Lisa instructed.
Ariana's legs moved to towards the television before her brain even decided to go. It started feeling like each time someone asked her to go to the television something terrible was happening. What did Ethan do now?
"Is he saying bad stuffs about me?" Ariana asked in shock as her shaky fingers tried to control the television.
"No, you just have to see it. This is worst! Oh my God!" Lisa whispered once again. Her voice was sounding distant and Ariana could tell something terrible was truly happening on the television.
"Lisa, you will kill me before I even see what exactly is going on!" Ariana snapped.
Her hands were already shaking as she managed to turn on the device and started scrolling through the channels.
"Why would he do something like this?" Lisa whispered again.
"Lisa, what did he do!?" Ariana cried out
Her heart was beating like she had ran a mile and she couldn't feel her fingers again. It felt like the news channel was too far away but as she scrolled she finally got to it. But there was nothing there. They were talking about politics and the economy in the country
"Lisa, there is nothing here!" Ariana snapped in anger. Lisa had almost given her a heart attack as she tried to find what she was screaming so much about
"Check the second one," Lisa said harshly .
Ariana hissed and pressed the next key. What she saw almost made her pass out.
"Oh no!" She exclaimed falling to the couch behind her.
