Calhoun saw the indecisiveness in her eyes and he got up from the sofa. He moved to the door, "I'll be in the car waiting for you to make a decision. It's either me or Ethan. The decision is yours."
This was something Calhoun didn't imagine himself doing but he had to do this for Ariana. He wanted her to be happy. He didn't want it to feel like he was given her a choice.
He got to his car and moved in. He leaned on the steering wheel, continuously tapping his fingers around it as he waited for Ariana to make her decision. He kept checking the time on his wristwatch and a sudden fear he didn't think he had started moving into his body. What was going on.
What if she didn't come?
His heart started beating very fast as he started getting feelings that she had chose the crazy guy over her. He was about to step out of the car to go confront her when he saw her approaching from the exit. She carried with her a small pink bag which she slung to her shoulder as she took short but fast steps to Calhoun.
"I see you made a decision," Calhoun said with a smirk plastered on his face.
"Let's just go. We still have more battles to fight!" She said firmly. She had stopped crying and now she looked angry. Her face was squeezed into an angry balk as she thought her decision through one last time. Ethan had broken her heart and she had told him times without number to stay away from her. There was nothing she could do but to stay away from him, hoping that he didn't commit suicide. He deserved more than that sort of ending. But Calhoun had put her in a tight corner there was just nothing she could do, her heart was yearning for him already and there was nothing she could do than do as each beats of her heart called out.
"Speaking of battles, my grandfather wants you to spend a few days with them in the house," Calhoun started as his eyes fixed on the road. The sooner he told her about it the better it would be for her.
"He wants me to stay with them?" Ariana turned to face him with uncertainty in her ryes.
"Yeah. You know how you have been complaining about my family not accepting you, well, I think this will be a chance for you to get to know them and they'll also get a chance to know you," Calhoun retorted.
Ariana bit back the questions she had wanted to ask. Was it not a little strange that his family now wanted yo spend time with her? How was she supposed to live with them?
"How about my job?" Ariana asked hoping Calhoun would reason with her on the distance at least. His grandparents house was a long distance from the company and it would be hard for her to move back and forth from the house everyday.
"You can always come back to it when you return home," Calhoun stated as he took the right turn to his street.
"So, you are saying I won't be working while there?" Ariana questioned. What would people think if she didn't work for a couple days but got paid as other workers.
"Sarah and Zion can cover up for you as they've always been doing. You don't have to worry about it," Calhoun insisted.
Ariana was quiet again as she watched on in silence as Calhoun parked the car expertly in the empty space in his parking lot.
She had asked for acceptance. Now she was given a open invitation and she wanted to give up on it because of fear. Staying with the Lawson's couldn't be that bad. She had to pull herself together.
Calhoun stepped out of the car and stretched his hand at Ariana. She took it and he led her to his house. This was officially the first time she was coming to his place. Even after knowing that he wasn't a sex worker, she still found it hard to believe he had so much money.
"Welcome home, my love," Calhoun announced as he unlocked the door for them to enter.
Ariana walked in and stood in what seemed to be the living room. She was in awe at the beauty and neatness.
"How many maids do you have?" she asked absentmindedly.
Calhoun smiled. This was a reaction most people got when they got to his house. It was not too large yet it gave off an impression like it was. And then it came to the maintenance. Most bachelors would have a whole swamp of servants maintaining the place but he did his alone.
"I do the cleaning myself," Calhoun said proudly. He hated unclean environment. So he made sure to clean up whenever he was home and free.
"You do?" Ariana exclaimed with her eyes opening wide. "You clean this whole place yourself?" Ariana could not believe someone as busy as Calhoun could so this much chores on his own. She left where he stood and moved further into the house. She found that it wasn't just the living room, each door she opened was without dust and impeccably presentable.
"Calhoun are you sire you don't have even one maid?" Ariana asked turning to him.
Calhoun smiled. She was so smart and it was one of the traits he could see in her despite being so drunk that first night they met at the bar.
"I do have one, but she hasn't been on duty for two months now. So this cleaning is my credit not hers," Calhoun pointed out. "Come let me show you to your room."
Ariana smiled as they walked to the room that he had designated for Ariana. It was a large room with a round bed by the centre that seemed to be overcrowded with pillow.
"You can stay here or come join me in mine," Calhoun suggested as he left the room for his.
Ariana stayed back. She wanted the room, yet she her heart wanted to go with Calhoun. In the end,Calvin warn.
