CHAPTER 27
Buttoning up his shirt, Christian looked at his self in the mirror and ruffled his hair in anger, since yesterday after the quarrel with Sara, he had not been himself ever since.
Was this what love did to someone?
He had been restless all through out yesterday, he had even refused to eat the dinner his mom had served, and when she had sensed his mood was not okay and had asked him what the matter was being the concerned mother she was, he had waved her off, telling her he was alright.
He had tried calling Sara's cell late that night but it had been switched off.
"What's the matter son? You've been moody since yesterday, care to share?" Looking at his bedroom door, he could see his mother standing by the side, arms akimbo and giving him the stare that meant she was but leaving until she knew about everything.
"It's nothing serious mum, I just had a bad day yesterday, that's all, don't worry yourself too much." He answered, going over to the mirror once again to smoothen his hair and straighten his shirt, he had a new job interview at a mining firm in the city today, and he did not want to be late.
"Talk to me son, I know something is definitely bothering you, and you know I don't like being in the dark."
Sighing, he bowed his head in defeat, and said, "Well mother, it is about Sara." "Oh wow, I had this feeling that she was definitely going to be the reason for your sulky mood, what happened?" Mrs Smith inquired, going over to meet him, she wrapped her loving comfortable hands round his, sat him quietly on the bed, and listened with rapt attention as Christian narrated everything to her.

Sara walked down the busy street with Ariel, it was already sunset and they had gone out earlier clothes shopping at one of the affordable boutiques downtown.
Now they were headed back to the shelter with their little purchases, today was her day-off and Ariel was also feeling under the weather and had decided not to go to work, already calling Daniel and informing him before hand.
Sara's phone began ringing, dipping her hands in her pocket, she looked at the cracked screen of the cell to know who was calling, when she saw Christian's name boldly on the screen, she hissed slowly and frustratingly and put the phone back in her pocket, she was just not ready to speak to him yet.
"And who was that? Don't tell me you are still avoiding his calls." Her friend Ariel asked raising her eyebrows at her.
After the argument yesterday night, she had gone to the shelter ad late that night had told and confided everything to her best friend, although Ariel had admitted to giving Christian her work address, she had not been in support of his actions .
She had calmly told Sara to put all thoughts of him aside for now, advicing her that she was too young to be having this kind of lovers spat and had termed it an unnecessary distraction, in her words, she had said, "Christian would surely apologize babe, don't fret too much about this."
She had also switched of her phone that night, because she had the feeling that he was going to bombard her with calls and her assumptions had been right, cause when she had switched the phone on this morning, the cell had been lit with dozens of text messages, apologies and love quotes, she had cried, turned mush ad had also laughed when she had read all the messages.
Now, she just wanted him to suffer for a bit, she had not replied or called back, and she knew he would be frantic with worry.
Facing Ariel, she smiled wickedly as she said "Well, I've not been picking his calls, that's right but it's intentional in my part."
"Huh, intentional! Sara, don't be so cruel girl, you have suffered him enough already, don't let him slip through your fingers just because of some little fights, that guy really loves you I know that for sure, you need to see the way he looks at you damn, so possesive but with so much radiating love, oh God! Sara." Ariel exclaimed and burst out laughing.
"Well I want him to have a taste of his own medicine, he was the one who caused this, if only he had not come yesterday to the club, all this would not be happening now, I'm even lucky that I was not caught, punished or sacked by the club's manager, that childish behavior of his would have caused me a lot, you know."
"Well, I know, but just try to pick his call, even if it's just to greet him, you don't know he might be worried now." Ariel said and she just nodded.
"Let's walk quickly so we can get to the shelter on time, it's already getting late."
Holding her leather bags securely, Sara wound her arms round Ariel's shoulders, a gesture that made her smile and together they walked off.

MEAN TRIO
Dinah, Miranda and Tessa sat under a bench in the shelter's garden when they saw Sara and Ariel walking past.
"Hey babes, look who just passed." Miranda announced pointing at the duo who were walking and laughing heartily talking to themselves.
"It seems they went shopping oh, look at their hands, they are holding boutique leather bags, where are they getting their money from, I don't trust this girls any longer." Tessa the second amongst the trio chimed in.
Dinah who was busy filing her nails finally looked over and joined in the conversation, already 18 and having been dumped by her mother at the shelter who had wanted nothing to do with her as soon as she was born, Dinah led a very hateful and bully filled life.
Rumors had it that she was the illegitimate daughter of a prominent rich man, because the surname her mother had signed her name with was a popular one, but nothing had been done to clarify the issue.
"Hmmmmmmmph, I wonder where they might have gone to get this money, they used to buy all this things." She said hissing bitterly.
"Well, some friends of mine said they had started working part time at some random places, but I don't know how true that is." Miranda said, she was the information carrier and bringer in the group.
"Working, they are not even up to 18, how did they get jobs, I don't believe that cock and bull story, I think it's either their boyfriends giving them money, or they have started prostituting." Dinah said snidely.
"Yes, I agree with Dinah on this one, they can't possibly get jobs with their age." Tessa said agreeing.
"Well, I think we've got a new work guys." Dinah said laughing wickedly and clapping her hands excitedly.
"And what's that ma'am." Tessa and Miranda asked at the same time, they always followed Dinah like puppies, her wish was their command.
"I want you guys to find out more about where this mysterious money is coming from, whether it's from working part time jobs or otherwise, I have just come up with a plan, but first of all I think the head matron needs to hear of this, what do you both think." She asked her friends.
"Yes ma'am, we are with you 100 percent." They answered in unison.
"That's my girls." Dinah exclaimed laughing wickedly and they joined in the laughter.
