Three-headed Chimera Beast?
Back when I was in the Chimera Tribe, Lanling had heard about it.
Ordinary Chimera Beasts are just faster flying creatures with greater battle prowess.
To give a straightforward comparison, a Chimera Beast’s flying speed is about twenty percent faster than a Griffin Beast, and its battle power about thirty percent stronger.
However, two-headed Chimera Beasts are different; their Demonic Blood Talent is about ten times that of ordinary Chimera Beasts.
As for three-headed Chimera Beasts, they haven’t been seen for hundreds, even thousands of years.
Three hundred years ago, the birth of a three-headed Chimera Beast directly led to the Chimera Beast’s extinction.
According to the official statement from the Chimera Tribe, this three-headed Chimera Beast went to the distant skies to train, but it would still protect the Chimera Tribe from the heavens. Of course, upon hearing this, Lanling knew it was nonsense.
Yet it was unexpected that this three-headed Chimera Beast appeared. Moreover, it had once been cast into lava and executed.
Lanling asked, "How big is it?"
Suo Mo replied, "About fifty meters long, with wings spanning thirty meters wide when extended!"
This enormous size? It’s truly a colossal being, several times the size of an ordinary Griffin Beast.
Lanling looked at the bodies on the ground.
Most of them showed signs of being burned, while some had been corroded to the point of being gruesome, almost reduced to bones. Yet, there were a few bodies whose surfaces showed no scars at all; it’s just that there were traces of blood at their nostrils and ears.
"This three-headed Chimera Beast has three attack methods," Suo Mo said. "The first head breathes fire, the second sprays venom, and the third emits a very terrifying scream — shrill and high pitched, but not loud, almost inaudible. But once hit by this sonic wave, many soldiers die instantly, bleeding from their mouths and noses."
This three-headed Chimera Beast is so powerful, and it can even perform sonic attacks?
"Is this three-headed Chimera Beast attacking at random, or specifically targeting our Flame Demon Tribe?" Lanling asked.
Suo Mo replied, "It specifically targets the Flame Demon Tribe."
This is strange, could it be avenging the Chimera Tribe? It shouldn’t be; the Chimera Tribe had condemned it into the lava, it should hate the Chimera Tribe. How could it avenge them? If it had that intention, it should have appeared long ago, before Lanling wiped out the Chimera Tribe.
"Where is it?" Lanling asked.
Constantine replied, "We tracked it back to its lair, which is in Mount Chimera."
Mount Chimera, that’s not far off, less than three hundred li away.
Lanling didn’t ask why the Samurai didn’t kill this three-headed Chimera Beast, because they simply couldn’t reach it.
"Does it fly fast?" Lanling asked.
"Very fast, almost twice the speed of a Griffin Beast," Suo Mo replied.
Lanling asked, "How many times has it attacked?"
Suo Mo replied, "It came three days ago, every day once, killing over a thousand each time. Every time, it rampaged for four hours."
Lanling rode on a Griffin Beast, surveying the entire Flame Demon Tribe.
All the soldiers looked nervously toward the horizon, as if the three-headed Chimera Beast could come at any moment.
Within the city walls, the working Flame Demon Tribespeople displayed expressions of fear, constantly glancing overhead, ears perked all the time.
As for the Centaur warriors, most of the force had vanished. The remaining few hundred Centaur warriors galloped everywhere, their eyes filled with rage and pain. Because, despite their strength, the Centaurs had no means to counter the three-headed Chimera Beast.
Xie Li Khan said, "Master, eighty-nine Centaur warriors also died, but to avoid panic, I’ve already cremated these brothers’ bodies."
Lanling’s face twitched; even though he gained allegiance from more than twenty thousand Centaur warriors, each Centaur warrior was precious. Losing even one hurt him, let alone eighty-nine.
"Were the losses in food and supplies significant?" Lanling asked.
"Big, very big!" Suo Mo replied, "Because we plundered so much, the warehouses couldn’t hold it all, so we just placed it in open spaces within the tribe. When the three-headed Chimera Beast attacked, we couldn’t move these supplies in time, and they were all set ablaze. About fifty percent of the supplies were burned to ashes."
Instantly, Lanling’s heart ached, as if bleeding.
Suo Mo said, "Chieftain, over these three days, the influx of people seeking refuge in the Flame Demon Tribe has drastically decreased. Previously, more than three to four thousand newcomers sought sanctuary in the Flame Demon Tribe daily; today, there are fewer than three hundred! Moreover, the overall progress of the tribe’s construction is less than half of before. Of course, the brothers of the Flame Demon Tribe are still risking their lives working hard, but thirty thousand Rakshasa Tribe captives are using the opportunity for passive resistance, especially the Chimera Tribespeople. They’re thrilled, believing the three-headed Chimera Beast came to avenge them, thinking they’ll soon be free and rebuild the Chimera Tribe. In fact, many of these thirty thousand captives are ready to act, planning a revolt when the three-headed Chimera Beast attacks."
This three-headed Chimera Beast must be dealt with, or the entire Flame Demon Tribe will be consumed by fear. Not only will the construction progress be severely slowed, but it might also incite a rebellion among the thirty thousand Rakshasa Tribespeople.
"According to precedent, when will this three-headed Chimera Beast attack again today?" Lanling asked.
