I drove like a maniac. But Mike didn't say anything maybe he understood me. I kept getting vague directions from him like turn left, take the next right and sometimes watch out for the bikers. But he never asked me to go slow. Everyone stayed away from our way. I could hear a few cursing though but I wasn't going to slow down just to obey the human laws. It made no sense to me. If we have some emergency then we should go fast. We can have separate lanes for that. Those who wants to go slow still can in another lane. I knew better than that to give Mike my suggestions because neither of us give a shit anyways.
"Are we close?", I asked him.
"Patience alpha. I will tell you when we get there. Keep driving till I say so", he told me.
I kept driving my foot pushed the acceleration taking the speed to another notch. He stayed silent as always.
"We are almost there. But we can go the straight way. There are many guards. I don't know this facility that much. I have worked here a long time before several changes have been made hence. So I can't say for sure we will go inside and come back safely", he told me.
"You can stay back if you like. No pressure. I needed you to the sole purpose of finding this location nothing more. This is enough for me", I told him.
"You know when I started realising that I'm being controlled? I started to forget my little girl. I forgot her birthday and her forts dance at school. My ex wife early burst my ass for it. But I knew something was happening to me. I noted that they have introduced a welcome speech by Julio which everybody should listen compulsory. It was not part of our routine any more. Right after I attended the speech I lost myself again. The only consolation is that it works for only a short duration. They are working for a more permanent system. But it is still in it's infancy. I also noticed many coworkers complaining of head aches. When your brain is warning us of the tampering we get those. It is my theory. I guess that they worked from top to bottom. They might have held discussion with our seniors and got them slowly in their control there by getting themselves among us. They are aiming to destroy you people I guess their only competition to get to top of the food chain", he told me.
"We never have any treatises with humans so as to protect them so I don't know why they would take the trouble to wipe us out",i told him.
"When it is a struggle for power then there is no logic. They are out to eliminate you. You either have to retaliate or succumb", said Mike.
"We won't succumb. But we won't be saving humanity as well. First of all we need to rethink our treaties. We don't want to live confined to reservations anymore", I told him.
"If you help us to eradicate Julio from our lives we will definitely rethink the treaties", he told me.
"Did you tell him that they are all being controlled?", I asked him.
"No. No one would like to believe that they are being controlled. I also don't think they are being controlled in every move, atleast not yet. But I dread it will be True one day. But once Julio is killed he would no more be able to control them", he told me.
"What about others?", I asked him.
"Julio is the oldest and strongest vampire among them. The rest are insignificant. I think Julio is working alone. He doesn't look like one to be working according to the commands of others", he told me.
"When should we go in?", I asked him.
"Soon we will go via back door with the cleaning department. I have secured a job with them for two", he told me.
"Where are they?", I asked him.
"They will be here anytime now", he said causally. Nothing seemed to faze this man except his ex wife.
"So what to do?", I asked him.
"We wait patiently", he said to me.
"You have family? You rarely mentioned them", I asked him.
"I do. I fell in love in college an married my girlfriend", he said.
"Then what happened?", I asked him.
"Then I got a job in the firm. The knowledge of vampires and werewolves exploded on my brain. I couldn't share any of the details with my ex wife that was their rule. I didn't and it took a toll on our relationship. Our daughter was born it only made me more determined to save her from all the creatures of the night. My ex decided it was enough and got separated the day I started taking night shifts. We divorced by the end of the year", he told me.
"That was sad story", I told him.
"I don't know if it is sad or happy but it is my life. I'm on leave on office records to get a heart surgery", he told me with a small smile..
"Is that truth?", I asked listening to his heart. I could hear that his heart beats for not regular. It had escaped my notice that he is fighting a heart disease.
"It is not entirely lie. I'm recommended to have a surgery very soon. Except I don't want to do that", he told me.
"Why?", I asked him.
"Many reasons unlike others I don't have my wife to pamper me on a hospital bed. After doing many encounters I know the importance of my life and I don't want to end it on an operation table. I would rather die doing something I love", he told me.
"But I still think you should do the operation", I adviced him.
"Maybe I will if I survive this. The cleaning truck is here", he told me. I watched Mike going to them and discussing the payment. He was too much fun. Then he returned with two identical uniforms which we wore. I walked inside the building with the rest of them. We were together six people. I walked closely behind the others with my head down not wanting to get identified.
