Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree Chapter 80

[Physique: 12] [Strength: 12.6] [Agility: 12] [Spirit: 17.2] [Free attribute points: 3] Duke used three free attribute points, adding them all to Spirit, bringing his Spiritual Power directly to 17.2. This level of Spiritual Power has already exceeded that of most third-class Wizard Apprentices, and is even higher than some second-class Wizard Apprentices. The threshold for a second-class Wizard Apprentice is 15 points of Spiritual Power, and some who have decent aptitude will wait until their Spiritual Power reaches 16 or 17 before choosing to advance, increasing their chances of success and confidence. Most people struggle hard to accumulate their Spiritual Power to 15 points before having the opportunity to aim for a second-class Wizard Apprentice. Duke plans to decide when to aim for becoming a second-class Wizard Apprentice after the assessment is over. His strategy remains primarily cautious. As long as he can continue to improve, he will strive to increase his Spiritual Power. The remaining three free attribute points are temporarily unused, to be decided later if he should use them to increase the success rate of breakthroughs. ... After Duke upgraded his Meditation Technique, he checked the magic stones in his Space Ring, preparing to go to town to buy Demonized Items. He had earned a lot of magic stones during this period by venturing into the sea to capture some Deep Sea Magical Beasts. Now there are a full thirty Level 1 Magic Stones stored in his Space Ring. For most third-class Wizard Apprentices, this is quite a fortune. On Academy Island, there are many ways to buy Demonized Items, including buying second-hand Demonized Items from other Wizards or Alchemy Shops. In the stall area outside the small town, various second-hand Demonized Items are for sale. The sources of these Demonized Items are complex, and the quality is not guaranteed, so it relies on one’s ability to discern. Many Demonized Items look normal and work fine. But after a few more uses, or when they slightly collide with other magic in real combat, problems immediately occur. This has happened many times and is quite common. The pitfalls in second-hand Demonized Items are numerous, and without experience, it’s hard for Wizards to find their way through them, and if not careful, they can be trapped. Duke does not want the expensive Demonized Items he bought to have any issues during real combat, as it concerns his life. He thought it over and decided not to save money here, opting instead to buy Demonized Items from the Alchemy Shop. The items sold in Alchemy Shops have to be vouched for by the sellers, and if quality issues arise, Black Sail will hold them accountable. All shops on Academy Island have backing and channels and will not sell counterfeit Demonized Items to deceive customers. After all, this is Black Sail’s territory, and no one dares to cause trouble within Black Sail. Duke plans to purchase offensive-type Demonized Items because he currently lacks offensive methods. Among the spells he masters, only the Water Arrow Technique is an offensive spell, which makes his methods too singular. If this method proves ineffective, he could only passively take hits. As for the Fighting Spirit of the Great Knight Level, it is not very useful in Wizard battles and can only be used as a means after both parties deplete their Magic Power. Now, even if Duke condenses his whole body’s Fighting Spirit into a Fighting Spirit Shield, it is no stronger than a Water Shield from the Water Shield Technique. This is the essential difference between the two; they are not on the same level. Upon arriving at the Alchemy Shop, Duke stated his purpose. The clerk who received him was named White, a capable young man with an intelligent look in his eyes. "Here’s the list of Demonized Items in the shop; take a look." White handed over a booklet listing many Demonized Items. Each page detailed a Demonized Item, including its material, enchanted magic, and the maker’s identity, all clearly noted. In addition, it also recorded some specific data on the magic, including its strength. There were also some additional suggestions, detailing the suitable and unsuitable scenarios for each Demonized Item. Duke’s eyes lit up, and he was no longer in a hurry to choose a Demonized Item but instead carefully perused the contents. Because he realized, this was ready knowledge. Initially, he came to buy Demonized Items, but unexpectedly, it turned into a bookstore visit. Duke stood at the counter and read through the entire booklet without minding the strange looks from others. White simply smiled without saying anything, poured Duke a cup of hot tea, and brought him a chair to sit on while he slowly made his choice. There were significant price differences in the Demonized Items in the booklet, from a few Level 1 Magic Stones to over a thousand. Duke saw a Demonized Item named the Enchanting Demon Bell, with a price marked at 998 Level 1 Magic Stones. Such a high price left him speechless, and he was even more surprised to see its actual effect. The effect of the Enchanting Demon Bell is that when activated with Magic Power, it can summon an Enchanting Demon that fully obeys your commands, allowing you to specify gender and type. "The Enchanting Demon Bell is a popular alchemy item among Wizards, enhancing life’s pleasures, and is a must-have for home and travel..." Duke’s mouth twitched as he read the description, not expecting such an expensive Demonized Item to have this effect. Currently, he has no interest in Enchanting Demons, nor can he afford something so expensive. Duke discovered many excellent offensive Demonized Items and, after much consideration, chose one called the Shadow Insect Bag. This bag is a summoning-type Demonized Item that can summon an Insect Race creature called the Shadow Insect by expending Magic Power. Shadow Insects can consume Magic Power; as long as their numbers are sufficient, they can easily devour some Wizard’s Magic Shields and similar items. Duke did not choose more direct Enchanted Fireball Technique, Thunderball, and other such Demonized Items because he believes these spells are actually the same type as the Water Arrow Technique, basic Elemental Magic attacks. If the Water Arrow Technique was inefficient, other Elemental Magic wouldn’t be much better. The Shadow Insect Bag is a unique method that can diversify his tactics, allowing him to handle more complex situations. Duke spent twenty Level 1 Magic Stones to buy this Shadow Insect Bag, causing him a bit of heartache. His savings of thirty Level 1 Magic Stones were quickly reduced to just ten. But money is meant to be spent, and Duke understands well that these resources only matter when transformed into his own power. After leaving the Alchemy Shop, he went to the Magic Potion Shop to buy some common healing, detoxification, and dispelling Magic Potions, spending five Level 1 Magic Stones. After spending these Magic Stones, the contents of the Space Ring increased, stocking up on quite a bit.
