Why must the devil be Defeated? Chapter 276

Chapter 276: 275 Thiel Elbein’s Story Chapter 276: 275 Thiel Elbein’s Story Thielle’s story was actually not so complicated, even somewhat cliche to some extent. Since it was the tale of a young girl who had been rejected by those around her from birth and who struggled to gain their acceptance. In the story, the girl was treated as a monster by those around her from a young age and thus experienced the harshness of the world. People around her feared her. Her parents were either always away from home, or they never looked at her with the eyes of a parent but as if at an unwelcome aberration. Because of this, the girl never had anyone close who she could confide in; loneliness, emptiness, solitary, and darkness were her only companions. Of course, nobody dared to abuse her. Precisely because they treated the girl as a monster, the people around her were unwilling to get close to her, let alone provoke her–that was something only a fool would do. Therefore, the girl was always alone and not allowed outside, either locked in a room or confined in a basement. The only place she was permitted to go was the arena for training. Other than that, she could not step anywhere else. Thanks to this, the girl had to train herself relentlessly from a young age, even devising comprehensive and complete training plans, mastering perfectly matched skills, and striving to improve her level. The girl naively believed that if she was strong enough, one day, she would be able to control the “Demon” inside her and gain her family’s acceptance. In fact, due to the girl’s efforts, her talents were somewhat recognized by others. Moreover, some members of her family believed that they should not limit her future. Even if the “Demon” inside her was terrifying, a terrifying thing also had its utilitarian value and could be used differently. Under such advocacy, the girl gradually gained some freedom. Her father, who was usually absent, surprisingly spent a lot of time with her during that period. This was to ensure that there was someone capable by her side should the girl ever lose control. And her father was a top genius in the clan, even believed to inevitably surpass his father–that is, the girl’s grandfather–and inherit the family. Naturally, when nobody was confident in stopping the girl in her rampaging state, only her father could step forward. Therefore, during that period, her father kept her with him as they moved among the family, the Royal Palace, and the Knight Order. In such a situation, the girl finally met some people who dared to approach her. Some of them were Princesses of the Kingdom, considered reincarnations of the Hero, unparalleled and the strongest future individuals of the Human Race. Some were the progeny of the Great Nobles, without exceptional strength, yet possessing very calm minds. Another was somewhat mysterious, with not many people aware of her background, but she always wore a gentle smile–even when the girl confessed she was a feared monster, she never distanced herself from her. Thus, the girl found friends and at last, had something akin to a “Human” connection. However, the good times did not last long, and the girl’s situation, which had barely improved, began to deteriorate again. It began with the death of her grandfather. Due to the dark injuries left by the girl’s rampage, this pillar of the family ultimately departed from the world. The girl, as the chief culprit, was once again viewed as the embodiment of a Calamity, a raging monster, with the clan loudly proclaiming how extremely dangerous she was, arguing that she should be locked in the basement forever. But this time, they were not successful. After all, the girl was no longer alone; she had the Princess of the Kingdom and the progeny of the Great Nobles by her side. They intervened with their authority, preventing the clan from restricting her freedom. Due to this, the girl fortuitously escaped disaster. But the events that followed completely dragged the girl into Hell. It happened ten years ago. At that time, the Royal Capital experienced a major event. The Slaughterer Faction of the Old Demon Clan Faction stormed into the Royal Capital and wreaked havoc. Originally, this was an impossible occurrence. The surroundings of the Royal Capital were protected by a very high-level Barrier, making it impossible for the Demon Clan to silently infiltrate. Even if there were a highly skilled Space Mage among them capable of breaching the Barrier, it was still impossible to silently bring a large group through it. At most, they could allow themselves to enter the Royal Capital, or simply destroy the Barrier surrounding it. However, once the Barrier was destroyed, the Royal Palace would surely notice–it would prepare for a frontal assault. With the power of the Kingdom Knights and the Guard Knight Order, even if the opponent numbered in the thousands from the Old Demon Clan, they would still end up being subdued. Yet, the situation was gradually progressing in the worst direction. Thousands of assassins from the Old Demon Clan Faction ultimately infiltrated the Royal Capital without a sound. The reason was simple. They had an inside helper. Someone in the Royal Capital was cooperating with them. And this person held a special position within the Royal Capital. That person was the young girl’s mother. Hearing Thiel’s words, Shane was astonished. To this, Thiel remained indifferent. “You heard me right,” Thiel said calmly, “It was this mother who coordinated with those from the Slaughterer Faction.” “Why?” Shane was still somewhat incredulous, “Could she be a spy for the Demon Clan?” “Of course not,” Thiel denied while still remaining calm, “You know the status of the Elbein Family, and as the wife of the next head of this family, her identity couldn’t be simple–how could she possibly be a spy for the Demon Clan under normal circumstances?” If her status was so high, then there was no reason for her to act as a dog for the Old Demon Clan, right? Unless she was threatened or there were other benefits to be gained. The mother Thiel mentioned did it for the latter reason. “Do you know why that mother never looked at her own daughter with the eyes of a mother, but rather as if viewing an unwanted byproduct?” Thiel asked rhetorically with self-deprecation, “Because that mother was never willingly married; a noble from a neighboring country arranged for her to be married off to place a pawn within the Kingdom.” “A neighboring country?” “Yes,” Thiel coldly continued, “She is a noblewoman from the northern Ragnar Empire.” The Ragnar Empire bordered the Mitra Kingdom. In the past, these two nations had waged wars against each other. Although they eventually signed a non-aggression treaty and ceased warfare, as the saying goes, warfare never truly disappears, it merely subsides. There were still those in that nation who eyed the Kingdom covetously; thus, they married off their noblewoman, claiming it was for an alliance and kinship, but in reality, it was to make her a spy to gather intelligence and secrets about the Kingdom, waiting for the opportunity to act. In other words, this mother never cared about her own family; instead, she was devoted to her homeland, the neighboring Ragnar Empire. For her, the existence of the young girl was merely a “thing” born as a sacrifice for the completion of her mission, not a family member deserving of emotional attachment. Not to mention, since this daughter also had the blood of the enemy nobility, the mother could never accept her. Thus, acting upon the orders from the Empire, as a spy for the neighboring country, the mother secretly introduced the Slaughterer Faction into the Royal Capital in order to create chaos and weaken the enemy’s strength. This matter was eventually discovered by the girl’s father. As a result, the father chose righteousness over kinship; in front of his daughter, he personally beheaded the mother. The girl, now seen as related to the criminal, faced hate from other Nobles, and was utterly ostracized by her family, eventually leaving the Elbein Family. This is the story of the young girl–Thielle Elbein.
