Why must the devil be Defeated? Chapter 164

Chapter 164: 163 “So troublesome, so troublesome.” (Please subscribe! Please vote for the Monthly ticket!) This time, Shane’s approach was undoubtedly correct. At least, after receiving several lukewarm responses from Shane, Anxi, who had gained little, displayed a face full of helplessness. One thing Anxi didn’t get wrong. A genius like Luoqi being born was already a miracle, and such an event had happened only once in a thousand years. The birth of someone comparable, in another place, unheard of, indeed aroused suspicion. Originally, when Luoqi was born, her magic power had alarmed the Divine Race, prompting the Goddess of Fate, one of the Three Great Goddesses, to descend, causing a stir across the Three Realms. It was as if he had appeared out of nowhere, too many aspects were suspicious. Shane’s magic power was in no way inferior to Luoqi’s, a fact that many had come to realize. This was especially true for Anxi and Aridia, who witnessed the grand competition of the Magical Sword between Shane and Luoqi. The magnitude of their power, indelibly etched in their memories. If someone like Shane were born into this world, he would at least be treated on par with Luoqi. That is to say, it would be impossible for beings of the calibre of the Three Great Goddesses not to take notice. So, why would such a genius remain unknown until now? (Even if he didn’t possess strong Unique Skills like Luoqi, not enough to draw the attention of beings at the level of the Three Great Goddesses, at the very least, the Divine Race would take notice, sending an Upper-level God to the Lower Realm to bestow a Blessing, right?) The Divine Race has always taken great care of the Human Race. Firstly, the Human Race was created by the Divine Race; to them, humans are like children, and when an exceptionally gifted child is born, the goddesses usually do not overlook it and are bound to take notice. Secondly, although humans don’t possess the many powerful abilities or strengths of the Divine Race or Demon Clan, due to their large population, they often give rise to some very powerful individuals, on par with the mightiest of the God and Demon Clans. Individuals like Luoqi and Aridia, acknowledged and respected by both the God and Demon Clans for their own strengths. In particular, humans from the Human Race, not bearing the innate magic talents of Elves nor the formidable physical strength of Beastmen and Dwarves, are considered the weakest of the Races in terms of racial abilities. Yet this Race, not only the first created by the Divine Race and most similar in appearance but also clearly lacking any racial advantages, periodically produces astonishingly talented individuals who shock all Three clans. Therefore, the Divine Race’s attention towards humans has always been the greatest. During the past wars between Gods and Demons, the Race that offered the most help to the Divine Race and posed the most severe threat to the Demon Clan was not the Elf Clan, the Beastman Race, nor the Dwarf Clan, but the universally acknowledged, most ordinary Human Race. Due to their vast numbers and the occasional emergence of exceptional individuals, the threat posed by humans to the Demon Clan could, in some respects, even surpass that of the Divine Race. If not for the limitations that still bound such resourceful humans, despite their overwhelming numbers and potential for brilliant individuals, they may well have been able to compete with the God and Demon Clans on their own, had there been existences at the level of the Three Great Goddesses among them. Of course, it was virtually impossible for beings on the level of the Three Great Goddesses or Six Great Demons to appear again; not even within the Divine or Demon Clans had such entities emerged, all the more so for the Human Race which had never produced such beings, an understandable situation. The only exception, perhaps, was the Hero. The Hero was the only one who could break through the limits of their Race to reach heights rivaling the Three Great Goddesses and the Six Great Demons. Therefore, the Hero was known as the hope bestowed by the heavens. And such heroes, generation after generation, had been humankind. Given this, humans held a very special status in this world, weak yet strong, and were always highly regarded by both the God and Demon Clans. This resulted in the Divine Race discovering any extraordinary individuals as soon as they were born and descending to the Lower Realm to bless them. Given Shane’s magic power, one would expect the intervention of an upper-level god in the Lower Realm and the world to receive at least a bit of news, right? Yet, because of Shane’s refusal to reveal anything substantial, the findings were limited. (It seems that we’ll have to send someone to investigate later.) Anxi had no choice but to give up and change the subject. “Speaking of which, it seems we’ve received news that your escort team, coming from Lamijion, has already arrived in the Royal Capital,” Anxi said as he looked toward Vivian, “Although I’ve heard a bit about what occurred, I would still like to hear about the specifics from you, who were directly involved.” His Majesty, the King, seemed to have been paying attention to the matter concerning the Old Demon Clan Faction. “However, a detailed report will have to wait until a formal occasion. It seems the person in charge from your side is the third son of Marquis Mula, isn’t it?” Anxi continued, stroking his chin, “If I were to listen to your report without him, it wouldn’t be quite proper, both emotionally and logically. The other nobles are also exceptionally interested in this matter and will surely want to hear a detailed report. So, it’s likely that you will be summoned for an audience soon. Remember to prepare, alright?” “Yes,” Vivian nodded earnestly. It seemed like the matter could end here. “As for the incident at the Royal Palace Arena, I will keep the news suppressed,” Anxi said with a smile, “While it won’t be completely covered up, as the nobles within the Royal Capital will unquestionably get wind of it, at least the existence of Lord Xi’en won’t be exposed to the populace. You can rest assured.” Upon hearing this, aside from the others, Shane wanted to retort. In other words, his existence couldn’t be concealed from those nobles, could it? This made Shane want to echo Luoqi and complain — “Ah, what a hassle, what a hassle.” Damn it, all because of that useless princess. Shane glared at Luoqi in silence. Luoqi seemed to realize her role in the matter, uncomfortably averting her gaze. Had she not gotten too carried away, the situation would not have escalated to this extent. But there was no use in complaining after the fact. Demonstrating his usual strong acceptance, Shane silently muttered to himself while he stood up with Vivian and the others, ready to leave. In a corner, Tielle also rose and quietly excused herself from the room. “Aren’t you planning on going back for a while?” Aridia, who had been silently standing behind the members of the Royal Family, suddenly spoke up with a somewhat indifferent voice. Shane, Lu Muya, and Merica were momentarily stunned and stopped in their tracks. Vivian, Anxi, and Luoqi raised their eyebrows but said nothing. Tielle, without a moment’s hesitation and without pausing, promptly left the room. The atmosphere suddenly became heavy.
