When The Clock Ticks (series 2) Chapter 128

Clarion doesn't understand what Pamela said. What is she saying? Is she hallucinating? Was she already seeing the land beyond while still alive? "What are you saying?" Clarion yelled at her. This whole scenario is making her go insane. How can Pamela say Alice is still alive? Was she in a trance? "Grandma, are you listening to me at all?" Pamela asked, cupping her grandma's face in her hands and looking at her intently. "My mother Alice, who is your daughter, is alive. I just spoke with her. She had lived in disguise all these while and found a way to befriend me. When I told her I am about committing suicide, she eventually revealed herself and told me she's Alice and will talk to grandfather not to get a divorce. And remember, no one ever found her grave. Her remains were never found and no one knew a thing about her. This only explains the riddle and puzzle we haven't been able to unravel since the news of her death. The day I was talking to someone on the phone, that you seemed to perceive her voice to be familiar, you were actually right. That was your daughter, grandma. You are a great amazing woman and mother to still recognise the voice of your daughter after these many years…" Pamela was saying when Clarion suddenly felt dizzy. Her frail heart cannot fathom how real Pamela's words are. She's weak. Her brain couldn't process the discovery and twist of events as easily as Pamela was saying it. Her heart, mind and brain needs to go blank for a while and then reformat itself before she can comprehend what Pamela was saying. How can Alice still be alive? Pamela suddenly saw her grandma's eyes closing wearily and her body seemed weak and collapsing when she screamed "Grandma, grandma!" She held her just in time as Clarion passed out. Quickly, Pamela had one of the men drive them out when Susana and Margaret drove in. This time, the veil was not there, it was Susana or better still Alice's face that was exposed. Pamela, without glancing at the women in the car, instructed the chauffeur to drive to the hospital. Alice stepped out while Pamela's car zoomed off. Quickly Susana got back into the car and told Margaret to follow after Pamela. "Step on it!" Pamela ordered holding her grandma in her hands and kept shaking her body to keep her alive. They arrived at the hospital and the chauffeur rushed into the hospital to inform the medical team of an emergency when Margaret drove in. Susana stepped out and ran towards the car, which gave Pamela the chance to see her face. She's indeed the woman she saw in the picture, she's her mother. She looked more mature and motherly in looks, but she was the woman that gave her life. Her heart almost stops beating. She's indeed alive and took up a new identity as Susana. A Nun. With that, she completely forgot about them. "My baby, are you alright?" She asked yanking the door open to hold her daughter when she saw her holding her Mom. "Mother!" Susana yelled and carried her mother out of the car just as a stretcher arrived. She placed her Mom on it and said "I'm here, Mother. Your Alice is here…" She started sobbing as Clarion was wheeled into the hospital. She turned abruptly and glanced at her daughter, Pamela didn't find the words to utter at the moment. Words got stuck and choked in her throat. She just stared at her mother with teary eyes. All these years, she went into exile, completely forgetting her parents and daughter, what kind of a woman is she? "Pamela" Susana said, her tears running down her cheeks. Where will she begin from? How does she explain what has happened to her in the past that made her take the step she took? Will her daughter forgive her? Will her mother accept her back? What about her father, what will his reaction be, everything is jangled up and she's afraid of rejection again. But she watched as her daughter's tears also dropped. She walked past her and was going into the building when Susana gripped her wrist. "I'm sorry baby. I didn't just decide to have things be the way they are now, I had no option. I have just one choice, stay alive and remain in disguise or Expose myself and be really dead" Susana explained. "I don't want to talk to you at all. But if anything happens to my grandma, I will not spare you, Alice Freeman nee Johnson" Pamela thundered and pulled her off her grip, hurrying after the stretcher that carried her grandma. Clarion was wheeled into the emergency ward and Pamela stayed out, watching from the transparent wall. Her eyes were red and she saw how her grandma was being placed on a drip. "Mother will be fine. She'd always been a strong woman" Susana said, standing beside Pamela and looking through the transparent wall at her mother. Pamela turned and glanced at her and next hissed between gritted teeth. Grandma indeed has always been a strong woman until her faked death made her a weakling, making her to live in perpetual regret. "Don't push me away Pamela, I'm still your Susana" Susana said, trying to place her hand on Pamela's shoulders when the latter couldn't hold back her fury and burst it out. "Enough! Are you still keeping your disguise? Susana my foot. If you ever want me to listen to you and not have my bodyguards throw you out, stop the disguise and address yourself as who you truly are, Alice Johnson the wife of Linus Freeman and the mother of Pamela Johnson!!" She thundered.
