When Dreams Become Reality Chapter 22

BLAZE* Once there, I pulled into Lyra and Vega's circle driveway. Even though I had a hand in creating this West Texas Oasis, I couldn't help but admire it. Lyra and Vega's parents had said they needed a low-maintenance yard, so we had laid down a beautiful white rock and had installed a timed sprinkler system to water the trees and plants in the front and backyard. I can't wait to see what Lyra and Vega had done to the inside of the house. I climbed down from my truck and walked up to the door. I pushed on the doorbell and waited for someone to let me in. Jace opened the door a few moments later. "Come in, Blaze. Breakfast is almost ready. I went simple with eggs, toast, and bacon; I figured we could get lunch afterward," Jace said. "Sounds perfect to me," I said as I glanced around at the living room and kitchen. "Wow, they've done an amazing job with the painting and decor in here," I said. A dark grey leather couch and love seat were squared off with two light grey recliners. Black steel side tables were in between the love seat and sofa. And there was another one in between the two matching recliners. They have a huge entertainment center with a 70-inch big screen tv bolted into the wall. No wonder their parents wanted bookshelves. The shelves were filled with hundreds of books. The walls were painted a light grey color. It was stunning. Jace glanced over at me and laughed. "Hey, man, once Vega gets down here, you can go check out the upstairs rooms. Lyra decorated and painted the Master Suite and made it into their guest room. You can check it out until then. You already know what the backyard and everything else looks like," Jace said. "Oh yeah, I guess I'll do that," I said as I walked over to the Master Suite. Oh wow, Lyra had painted the walls a light pastel blue. The comforter was navy blue, and the sheets and pillowcases were pretty close to the same color as the walls. Lyra and Vega should make a living doing in home decor. I heard Vega running down the stairs, and by the time I walked out of the room, I saw her bound into Jace's arms. They looked so good together. Come on, Lyra, please wake up. Please, please, please. Man, I sound like a Disney movie. "Blaze, come here; I'd like for you to see the upstairs," Vega said as she ran over to the stairs. I walked fast to catch up to her. We walked down the hallway a bit, and she opened the door to the right. "This is Lyra's room. We are going to have to move all of her stuff downstairs," Vega said with a pained look on her face. It was even more outstanding than I remembered it. My eyes were on Lyra, though for the most part. So I ignored the room. Her walls were painted in a medium-toned turquoise color. I noticed the bookshelves were filled with what looked to be romance novels. It makes sense, I suppose. Shelving on the walls were lined with trophies and track lanyards. So I presume Lyra was athletic; I figured as much from her toned figure. Lyra's bedspread was a dark turquoise color, and her sheets matched perfectly with the walls. I would have to say that turquoise is her favorite color, maybe? Thank God it's not pink, or purple, or any of those other girly colors. I could deal with Turquoise; however, the blue and grey in the living room and Master Suite were more my speed. Vega grabbed my hand and pulled me over to the bathroom excitedly. "You all did an amazing job with our bathrooms. I told Jace, this is what I wanted in our home someday," Vega said. "I know what you mean; I live in a rental house and don't have a bathroom near this nice. I'm jealous," I said as I smiled at Vega. Vega wrinkled up her face. "You own a construction company and build homes for a living, and you're living in a rental home?" Vega asked. I chuckled and shrugged my shoulders. "One of these days, when I snag a woman and get engaged, then I'll start working on building us a family home. Till then, I don't need anything fancy. All I do is work, and when I make the time, I run and go to the gym. But with my profession, there isn't much need to work out," I said, and Vega gave me a sad look. "Jace has told me a bit about your past relationships. I'm sorry things haven't worked out for you. Lyra has always had issues with relationships as well. I can't wait until you guys get a chance to meet. She will love you," Vega said. "I'm looking forward to meeting her someday. I'm going to tell you something that might freak you out, but I feel like I can trust you with this information. Please don't hit me or yell or anything; it was not my doing. It just happened," I said. "I'm pretty easy to talk to, so shoot. I promise not to bite," Vega said as she closed the bathroom door and started making her way to her room. I followed her, taking one last glance around Lyra's room, before shutting her bedroom door. When we reached Vega's room, I felt sorry for Jace. Her room was full of different shades of pastel purples. Oh, man. I couldn't help but chuckle. "What's so funny?" Vega asked. "Oh nothing, you girls may look alike, but..." I trailed off. "How did you know we look alike?" Vega asked. "Uh, family photos on the walls downstairs, and you showed me pictures in the hospital remember," I said. I pulled that one out of my ass, though. I did, however, see some photos on the wall. Vega just raised her eyebrows. "I forgot I'm sorry. Lyra is all about comfort, really, and she's not girly when it comes to dressing. I can't get her to wear a dress to save her life. Lyra is the one that chose the grey and blue downstairs. She didn't want the house to be too girly downstairs. My mom talked her into turquoise for her room. Otherwise, it would have ended up black and red, or grey and blue like downstairs. Who knows?" Vega said as she shrugged her shoulders. "So she's more of a Tom Boy type of girl?" I asked Vega. "Yes, she's more of a jeans and t-shirt type of girl. In comparison, I'm the skirt and dresses type of girl. I'm messy, as you can tell by my room, and Lyra is a clean freak. I'm somewhat shy, and Lyra is more outgoing. We may be identical, but we are complete opposites," Vega said. Jace walked into the room a minute later and hugged Vega from behind. "Breakfast is ready. We should hurry, so we aren't late," Jace said, and we all headed downstairs and into the dining room area. Jace already had the table set, and there was milk and orange juice out. We all sat down, and I poured myself some milk. Vega and Jace opted for orange juice, and we all started piling food onto our plates. "So what was it you wanted to tell me earlier; we got sidetracked?" Vega asked me as she shoveled eggs onto her plate. Oh, right, I was going to tell her about my dream. Vega saw the hesitant look on my face. "Don't flake out on me because Jace is here. He won't care, and I would most likely tell him later anyway. I talk to him and Lyra about everything," Vega said and took a bite from her toast. "I had a dream about Lyra last Friday night; it was pretty amazing. I'm not going to go into details. When you walked up with Jace at the Ranch, I thought you were her. That's actually how I figured out later on that you two were identical," I said in a rush and took a drink of my milk. Vega and Jace both looked shocked. Oh man, are they going to hate me now. I just started shoving food into my mouth. "Lyra had a dream that night about someone as well. She was so upset when she realized it was all just a dream. It was a crazy ordeal. It took some coaxing to get her to agree to go to the ranch. Now she's in a hospital, and it's all my fault," Vega said sadly. She did not just say Lyra being in the hospital was all her fault. "For one, it's not your fault Lyra is in the hospital. You get that thought out of your head right this instant. It's that drunk-ass hat's fault. You had nothing to do with her accident. You understand what I'm saying right now," I said with an angry tone. Vega nodded and took a bite of her bacon. "And two, I think she and I both had the same dream. I honestly believe Lyra is my soulmate. Especially after hearing what you just said. We might not know until we meet, though. So I'm going to be patient and do what I do best work," I said.
