When Dreams Become Reality Chapter 10

LYRA* "LYRA, LYRA, Wake up, what's wrong, what happened? Wake up, am I going to have to slap you?" Vega was shaking me and screaming in my face. Did I fall asleep? Oh no, he's going to come out naked in all his glory. My eyes burst open to see Vega's scared, beet-red face. My right brow raises, "What's going on? I just fell asleep, I guess, but you need to leave. He'll be coming back soon, and I don't want you seeing him naked," I said as I glanced towards the bathroom. "Lyra, you screamed, really loud. We thought you had hurt yourself somehow," Vega exclaimed. Vega turned to look at Jace, who leaned against my door frame. Her gaze quickly darts towards the bathroom. Then back to me with an excited look on her face. She bounced in the bed and started clapping her hands excitedly. "Oh My Goodness, you and Steven finally had sex, Lyra; how do you feel? YAY," Vega screamed excitedly. I gave her an annoyed look, and I hoped he would wait in the bathroom until he knew Vega and Jace had left. "What, no Vega, not Steven?" I said in an embarrassed tone as I felt my face heat up. I'm sure I'm red as a tomato right now. Vega glanced over at Jace yet again. Then back at me with the craziest confused look on her face. "What, I don't understand, if not Steven, then who...?" Vega whispered out and trailed off into thought. "Steven broke up with me. We got close, but I wasn't ready. I didn't want to lose my virginity while I was tipsy. I'll tell you the details later, but Steven left," I choked out as tears welled up in my eyes. Her eyes grew wide, and she scrunched up her face into her pissed-off look; Vega was now angry. "Now, prepare yourself because you're going to think I'm nuts after I tell you what happened next," I explained while I shrugged my shoulders. Vega starred at me, and I could see her brain working. "Well," I let out a little giggle. I couldn't help it, I was excited, and I couldn't form words. "On with it, Lyra, I'm exhausted, and I have to get up with Jace in the morning," Vega said, annoyed. "Ok, ok," I said as I blew out a breath. Here it goes. "Short version, details later," I said as I waved my hand around; I sat up and bounced on the bed. " Ok, so after Steven left, I came up and relaxed a bit in the bath. I came to bed afterward and passed out. I woke up to some stranger, who I'm guessing was sleepwalking. I was afraid at first, but oh my goodness, he was so handsome and the sweetest. He took care of me; I lost my virginity to a stranger. It was amazing, he's in the bathroom right now, and we're going to go for round two, I think," I said as I bounced around. Vega looked at Jace, and he ran to the bathroom. "LYRA, this makes no sense whatsoever. Some creeper came in here and took advantage of you, and" Vega trailed off as Jace came back into the room pissed. "There's no one there," Jace yelled as he ran out of the room and ran down the stairs. Vega and I stared at each other questioningly. I don't understand. He should have been in there. Vega grabbed my hands, and we sat and waited for Jace to come back. About ten minutes later, Jace barged back through the door. "The deadbolt was locked, and the alarm was on. The kitchen door was also locked. The alarm would have gone off if anyone had broken in," Jace said in a questioning tone as he looked back and forth between Vega and me. I glanced over to the floor where my nightgown and that man's underwear should be. To see nothing, and then removed the sheet from my top half. To reveal that I still had my nightgown on. Tears welled up in my eyes and started streaming down my cheeks. I took in a deep breath and started balling. I heard Jace's phone go off, and he walked out to answer it, to give us some privacy. "Oh honey, I guess it was all just a dream," Vega whispered as she hugged me and then wiped my tears from my face. All I could do was nod. I can't believe it was all a dream. It all seemed so natural. I should have known, considering all of the sparks and colors that seemed to radiate around us the whole time. The man had shown up out of nowhere. "I'm going to go to bed, and we'll talk more later about everything. Try and get some rest." Vega said as she gave me another strong hug, got up, and walked back to her room. I understood because Vega would be going with Jace tomorrow to meet up with his brother and all of his cousins. Vega wanted to see some of their work. Jace is their architect, and they built our house. Jace hasn't said anything to them yet, but Vega and I hope they can start constructing a rehabilitation hospital for us in the next couple of years. I'm also supposed to go, but I don't think I will feel up to it. Some warm milk was needed to help me fall back to sleep, so I got out of bed and walked down the hall to the stairs. Once I reached the stairs, I flicked on the light to not stumble down the stairs in the dark. That would be my luck, and I tend to trip on air. Once I reached the bottom of the stairs, I flicked the light on in the living room and walked across to the kitchen. I turned the light on in the kitchen and walked over to the cabinet to grab a cup. I walked over and bent down, and held the stool we had under the sink. Once I positioned the stole where I needed it, I climbed up and then reached up to grab a small pan from the pan holder hanging from the ceiling. I'm not short, but not tall enough to reach the pans without a stool. I climbed down from the chair and walked over to place the pan on the stove. Then walked across to retrieve the milk from the refrigerator. I poured some milk into the pan and turned the burner on to low heat. While I was waiting for my milk to warm up, I thought back on the events that had unfolded tonight. The more I thought about Steven, the more I realized I should have ended things sooner. I knew after a month; Steven wasn't the one for me. I didn't want to be alone. So I trudged on, thinking my feelings would change in time. I broke his heart, and I feel bad for it, but I do not love him. I care for him, yes, but love, no. Now to the dream. I'm heartbroken it wasn't real. The way I felt in this dream, the things I saw. It was so real. This dream had to have been the universe, showing my soulmate to me. Why else would I have a dream about someone I've never met before in my life? He's out there somewhere; I know it. If we had exchanged names as he wanted, would I be able to find him somehow? So stupid, I mentally slapped myself at the thought. I glanced down to see that my milk was bubbling a bit. So I took it from the pan and poured it into my cup. I took a small sip to make sure it was not too hot, and it was perfect. I walked over to the dining room table, set my cup down, pulled out a chair, and plopped myself down. I'm emotionally and mentally exhausted. I hope this warm milk helps me go back to sleep. I finished my milk and just left the glass there. Usually, I would clean it out and put it up, but my eyes were already growing heavy. I walked over and turned off the light to the kitchen, then turned off the living room light. Then onwards up the stairs. I turned off the light to the stairs once I reached the stairs and made my way to my room. It's quiet in Vega's room, so I knew they've made it to bed and are fast asleep. I made my way to my bed. I don't think I'm going to make it to the ranch house with Jace and Vega. Nine a.m. is way too early for being up so late. I passed out just as soon as my head hit the pillow.
