Warhammer: Lord of the Endless Monster Horde Chapter 5

Such terrifying combat power—tearing apart eight entire Tyranid Bio-Titans so easily! Even Warlord-class Titans of the Imperium don't possess such raw strength. The Warlord Titan is the largest Titan construct aside from the Emperor-class Titan. Typically, Titans that appear on the battlefield are Warhound-class, Reaver-class, Nemesis-class, Warlord-class, and the Warbringer Nemesis-class. Warlord-class Titans are rarely deployed. Warhound-class and Reaver-class Titans are smaller Titans, standing around 17 meters tall. Warhounds are recon Titans with high mobility, equipped with a heavy cannon on each side and one on the forehead. The Warhound-class Titan has lighter armor but greater speed, whereas the Nemesis-class Titan has stronger armor and firepower at the cost of reduced mobility. The Reaver-class Titan is a medium-sized Imperial Titan unit, standing 24 meters tall, known for its agility in battlefield assault operations. The Warbringer Nemesis-class Titan is a large Imperial Titan standing 30 meters tall, specifically designed as a Titan hunter. It is equipped with a massive quake cannon at the front, capable of obliterating any enemy war machine with ease. This Titan was developed during the Great Crusade to counter xeno Titan-class constructs. The Warlord-class Titan, a massive frontline war machine deployed by the Adeptus Mechanicus for the Imperium, stands a staggering 36 meters tall. It is widely deployed across the Imperium's vast territories and is manufactured in the most advanced Forge Worlds. Possessing an immensely powerful machine spirit, it requires a crew of hundreds to operate. The history of existing Warlord-class Titans can be traced back to the Great Crusade, and even the Dark Age of Technology. They often operate in twin formations and can engage both ground and aerial targets. The Imperator-class Titan, formerly known as the Warlord Titan (though the term "Warlord" has since been abandoned for certain reasons), is the heaviest super-heavy Titan, boasting immense firepower and standing around 41 meters tall. Each Warlord-class Titan is considered one of the Imperium's most priceless assets. The most powerful of all Titans is the Emperor-class Titan. These are no longer actively produced, standing at around 60 meters tall, with the rarest variants reaching a terrifying height of 100 meters. They serve as mobile military fortresses, typically tasked with guarding Holy Terra itself, and do not appear on regular battlefields. Yet, this monstrous creature exceeds even the largest Warlord-class Titan in height, nearing that of an Emperor-class Titan. And it just tore apart eight Hive Tyrants with its bare hands—its combat power is utterly horrifying. "This is undoubtedly a Titan-class monster. I just hope it's wild. If this is a Bio-Titan engineered by some faction, the consequences would be unimaginable," said the Space Marine Captain. However, the chances of that being the case are slim to none. The way it appeared alone suggests it is not a naturally occurring entity. Moreover, its terrifying combat prowess and sheer bloodlust are not traits of a naturally evolved lifeform. At this moment, Red King had already risen from the ground. Though his body was covered in wounds, he remained in a berserk state, relentlessly attacking the surrounding Tyranids. "Captain, I... I just thought of something terrifying. Whether this giant is wild or artificially created, it would be an unimaginable boon for the Tyranid Hive Fleet. Think about it—if the Tyranids were able to recover its corpse and extract its genetic material, they could create Bio-Titans on par with Warlord-class Titans. That would be a nightmare for the Imperium." "It's not that simple. The stronger a lifeform is, the harder it is to extract viable genetic material—just like us Space Marines. How many of our brothers have fallen to the Tyranid swarms, yet they have never been able to replicate us?" "And those warlords and war chiefs of the beastmen, their genes were never repurposed either," the Space Marine captain said. If the Tyranids truly possessed such terrifying genetic modification technology, they would only need to capture a single specimen to mass-produce clones or develop targeted countermeasures. In that case, the Imperium would have no chance of resisting the Tyranids. Nor would the Imperium have won the First and Second Tyranid Wars. Those heretical gene-stealing cults would have long since destroyed the Imperium. The Tyranids are masters of genetics, but they are not absolute controllers of genes. To fully replicate the genes of such an immensely powerful creature, the Tyranids would need to capture more than a dozen live specimens, conduct various genetic experiments and cultivations, and spend a great deal of time before they could create such a being. Obtaining only a portion of the genes wouldn't be of much use. However, his subordinate had a point. A titan creature of such immense power was surely a prime target for the Tyranids to capture. Sending eight Hive Tyrant-class bio-titans was the best proof of this. The Tyranid Hive Queen wanted to test the combat capabilities of this massive creature first. And the results were undoubtedly very satisfactory. There were only three Tyranid bioships in orbit outside the planet—this was not a main Tyranid fleet, but rather the remnants of the defeated Kraken Fleet. Since the Kraken Fleet was defeated in the Second Tyranid War, many Norn Queens had been piloting their warships, roaming the galaxy, and attacking remote planets. This planet had become one of their targets. "Astartes Brother, we must report this matter to the Imperium and let them know that a terrifying creature has appeared here," a Sister of Battle said. "Unfortunately, we have no psykers capable of astropathic communication here. We cannot send any messages," the Space Marine captain shook his head and replied. This planet was a semi-agricultural, semi-forge world, one of the logistical supply planets for their Space Marine Chapter. It usually provided tithes and new recruits for their Chapter. The captain had originally brought his company here to recruit fresh initiates and collect the tithes, but unexpectedly, they encountered a Tyranid invasion. The Tyranid fleet's release of a Shadow in the Warp quickly blocked all psychic signals on the planet. The psykers were the first to be eliminated by the Tyranids. Then, the Tyranid Hive Fleet attacked his warship, severing all contact between his company and the Chapter. They had no way to call for reinforcements. Within days, the planet was completely overrun by Tyranid forces. "The next wave of Tyranid assaults will come soon. This time, they will send specialized bioforms to capture that massive creature. It won't last much longer." Watching the Red King slaughtering enemies left and right, a Space Marine shook his head and said. "Gather all our meltabombs. If that massive creature falls in battle against the Tyranids… Then our final mission will be to plant as many meltabombs as possible on its body. We must destroy its corpse. No matter what, we cannot allow the Tyranid swarm to acquire its biological specimen," the Space Marine captain ordered after a brief moment of contemplation.
