Warhammer Divine Throne Chapter 197

The warehouse door was opened, and Jacob signaled the three demon hunters under his command to light torches and survey the entire warehouse. The interior looked ordinary, storing a large number of candles and some clothes. Besides that, there was only an angel statue and a huge painting depicting a grand ball. "Doesn't seem like anything special." "But someone ambushed us here." "There must be something wrong." The demon hunters discussed amongst themselves. "Of course, there's a problem here." Jacob, the most experienced, disdainfully reached out and twisted the wing of the angel statue. In the eyes of the three young demon hunters, the angel statue gradually transformed into a hideous demon. It still had a pair of feathered wings, but their shape and color had twisted into a distorted purple. A bull's head, horns, additional limbs, and complex filthy patterns formed this new statue. As the statue changed, the gigantic painting turned with the wall behind it, revealing a dark entrance. "Jock, you stay by the door. Let's go in and have a look." Jacob motioned for the remaining two demon hunters to go inside and take a look. "Understood!" The young demon hunter acknowledged, drawing his single-handed sword and short gun, guarding the outside. Crossing through the wall, a sickening sight appeared before the demon hunters. Blood, carcasses, and various fine foods covered the ground. The warehouse was filled with all sorts of artworks; paintings and sculptures were in every corner, adorned with the most exquisite and intricate art. Yet upon careful inspection, the demon hunters would find the statues strange and distorted, and the people in the paintings engaging in obscene and repulsive acts. They slit their wrists to drink blood and loudly praised the Lord of Pleasure, faces full of ecstasy yet laced with a terrible fear. The food had long rotted and spoiled, emitting a foul smell, and the drinks were all made from blood. The floor was smeared with various excrements, and remnants of flesh bitten and devoured in copulation could be found all over the hall. Both young demon hunters experienced extreme discomfort, yet this extreme depravity and madness made them contemplate joining it. Torn by this conflicting mindset, they found their bodies starting to betray them, their minds tormented by painful suffering. "Arghhh!" A young demon hunter clutched his head, wailing in agony. A staff struck his head sharply: "Wake up! Don't let chaos defeat you!" The pain and shouted warning snapped the young demon hunter back to his senses: "Master Jacob?" Jacob then used his staff to hit the other young demon hunter's head, finally pulling both of them out of the madness. However, they were drenched in sweat, their spirit severely dampened. "This is a Slaanesh cult gathering, their carnival." Jacob's voice was filled with disgust and caution. He turned back and saw the young demon hunters' pained expressions, shaking his head repeatedly: "We almost fell into the trap. If we hadn't cautiously waited so long, we would've been ambushed upon entering." Original content can be found at N()velFire.net The two young demon hunters thought for a moment and felt a bit of lingering fear. They gulped: "Vice President, what should we do now?" "Strange, this is the Slaanesh cult's gathering place. How could Belte, that Khorne worshiping beast, be here? Could it be that Belte colludes with the Slaanesh cult? In principle, these two evil gods are sworn enemies; how could they be mixed together?" The more Jacob thought, the stranger he found it. He carefully recalled the sequence of events. "It seems Belte indeed has collusion with the Slaanesh cult..." Enduring the stench and filth, Jacob checked the room's situation and found, aside from the depraved banquet scene, a surgical table inside. Next to the surgical table, a cabinet contained dozens of glass jars arranged in three rows. Jacob scrutinized them and found they were all human organs. This is a technique unique to the Slaanesh cult. The cultists extract old, decayed organs to replace them with new ones, thereby prolonging life. Additionally, bathing in the blood of young maidens and conducting depraved sacrifices also extends the cultists' lifespan. Sure enough, Jacob soon found large barrels of blood and mutant children who died with eyes wide open after a successful sacrifice. Some of these children had sprouted tentacles, chitinous pincers, or another head — some had even become unrecognizable as human. Crawling aimlessly all over the ground, Jacob had to draw his longsword to end these abominations' lives one by one. The other two demon hunters were already using torches to burn down this sinful site. In the face of chaos corruption, fire is the best weapon; only flames can cleanse such corruption. Jacob also lit a torch and threw it into a corner: "Burn this place down. Let's retreat quickly, Belte isn't here." "Okay!" As the warehouse ignited with blazing flames, the demon hunters prepared to retreat. "Jock? We're ready to leave! Gather up, see if there's anything valuable to take!" One of the demon hunters searched for any coins fallen on the ground, carefully collecting them to take away. Demon hunters don't have high income to begin with, unlike someone like Laine, the knight. They have no steady income or even proper salaries. Their income mainly comes from spoils and missions, so demon hunters often used missions as an excuse to plunder wildly, finding ways to take all valuable things.
