Warhammer Divine Throne Chapter 146

"Chase them down!" Bireg raised his War Axe. The line was gradually pushed over Aarhus Bridge. Every Barbarian was frantically crowding onto the bridge, wanting to drink more of the Southern People's blood, because only in this way could they win the attention of the God of Darkness. To become a Chaos Champion, to rise as a true Demon Prince in endless glory, they had to seize any tiny opportunity in the eternal and bloody war to show their "usefulness" to the Chaos Evil God. Only in this way could they gain the favor of the God of Darkness and continually ascend the ladder to demonhood. According to the previous arrangement, the Nord Army seemed oblivious to the increasingly disadvantageous battle situation. They fought while retreating, with no intention of holding the bridge at all costs; they simply ensured every step they retreated cost the Barbarians more lives. Finally, the Nord Army withdrew from Aarhus Bridge, with the entire bridge filled with Barbarians celebrating yet another victory, greedily scavenging weapons, armor, and coins from the dead. They did not know what awaited them. As more Barbarian Warriors surged onto Aarhus Bridge, Walnut Knight Nikolai, judging the timing to be right, gently drew an arrow and lit its tip. "Damn Northerners! We Nord people have a big gift for you! It's a well-prepared treasure~" Nikolai laughed as he shouted. "Damn Northerners! Taste the wonderful gift of us Nords!" The Nord Army shouted in unison. "Don't get stuck on the bridge! Don't get stuck on the bridge! Charge across and kill those lowly Southern People! Don't get stuck on the bridge!" Bireg suddenly realized something and quickly shouted loudly, signaling his soldiers to chase down the enemy at once. The earth shook, and the river ran backward. A thunderous explosion blasted apart the thirty-meter-long stone bridge of Aarhus Bridge. None of the Barbarian Raiders standing on it survived, and smoke and dust filled the skies on both sides of the bridge, with fallen rocks covering the ground. Hundreds of Barbarian soldiers and the stone bridge of Aarhus Bridge together turned into scattered fragments. "Hahahaha! Bireg, does this gift please you?" Lops and Aik dealt with the few Barbarian Raiders who crossed the bridge, and then stood at one side of the bridge shouting. The Walnut Knight laughed even louder, signaling his men to retreat, "If not satisfied, wait until Mijordenhaven, we have even better gifts for you, and that's death!" Aik's face was flushed with excitement, the Wandering Knight claimed six Barbarian Raiders' heads on his own. "Originally, we could achieve more." Laine signaled his soldiers to partly retreat while others stayed to continue sniping the Barbarians. The crossbowmen rained arrows wildly, constantly dropping Barbarians, who became live targets for these crossbowmen in front of the broken bridge. But there was no smile on Laine's face. In his plan, they should have destroyed as many trees and houses on the opposite bank as possible to prevent the Barbarians from quickly setting up a new bridge. These Barbarians were lightly equipped, and simply blowing up the bridge wouldn't delay them for long. The remaining two hundred crossbowmen and a dozen cavalry contined shooting cold arrows from the opposite bank, obstructing the Barbarians' attempts to build a new bridge. There weren't many trees on the opposite bank, and Laine and his group kept shooting cold arrows, repeatedly hindering the Bearman Tribe's bridge-building efforts. All the Barbarians who tried to swim across the river died, proving to Bireg that this way was impassable, and the Barbarians had to obediently attempt to repair the bridge. Fortunately, the bridge was blown up, but the piers remained, making Bireg judge that it shouldn't take too much work. In the long drawn-out battle, the Nord people cunningly stayed just out of javelin and Flying Axe range, these annoying cold arrows caused significant trouble for the bridge repair work. "Useless! Useless!" The Barbarian Champion Kuoloulin cursed, urging the soldiers to hurry, as time passed quickly. The sun had risen from low to high in the sky — in the repetitive cutting of trees and building of bridges, the Barbarians had already spent half a day. The cold arrows on the other side of the bridge gradually stopped as the crossbowmen ran out of arrows, so Laine signaled the crossbowmen that they could also withdraw, leaving only a few Wandering Knights and two Kingdom Knights. Thᴇ link to the origɪn of this information rᴇsts ɪn novel fire.net "Our plan was very successful, Mr. Laine, the Barbarians have already been delayed here for half a day." Nikolai said joyfully. Today, the Nord people hadn't suffered many casualties, while the Barbarians had left behind over five hundred corpses. "If we had managed to cut down more trees on the opposite bank, it would have been even better." Laine nodded. With such a delay, the Barbarians' progress was obstructed by this broken bridge, and they were unlikely to reach Mijordenhaven within the day. Moreover, they had some additional "surprises" prepared for these damn Barbarians. When the Bearman Tribe finally used the hard-gleaned timber to build a bridge, a group of Barbarian Raiders hurriedly stepped onto it, wanting to quickly cross the river to defeat the Nord people on the opposite side. "Three, two, one, down!" As Nikolai's last finger went down, the tampered-with bridge pier collapsed under their weight, then was washed away by the river, and the temporary wooden bridge, losing support, also broke apart. Another dozen or so unlucky Barbarians fell into the water, the icy river slowly drowning their senses. The half-day effort to build the wooden bridge turned out to be in vain.
