I am love sick, already. Seeing her thumb the slightest red color, had all types of feeling swarming my chest.
First it was her being honest about her diet, I didn't like it in the least. Now, she burned herself slightly.
Not only that but to hear that she is used to it due to her work environment, has me reeling in all types of emotions.
For the last eight years, part of my job in the Army was not only combat mechanics but also medical. I had taken it upon myself to be specialized in many different fields. I had nothing better to do with my time than to just learn and pass courses.
"Hey man, can you hand me that rod bearing if you're not going to do it." Alex snaps me out of the worst thoughts.
"Yeah, sure." I hand him the part.
I shake my head, just the small part of me thinking about the past sent a crap tons of images through my mind I wish would just vanish.
Alex must catch on, as he raises up and looks at me.
"Don't go there man. We are here now." Alex cocks his brow at me.
"Yeah, yeah I know." I shake my head.
"Find a happy place. It sounds corny but that is what has helped me." Alex pats my back.
"Yeah." I nod.
"So, the ladies mentioned about decorating for Halloween." I change the subject, something I am good at.
"Maddy was talking about that this morning." Alex laughs.
"You two have been like glue to each other." I chuckle.
"You're just as bad with Scarlett, well almost." Alex laughs, going back to work.
"They said all the children like to walk the side walks and do their little candy pick up. May not hurt to have some candy and little things in the main window." I muse over it all.
"Hundreds of children walking by in costumes getting candy. Those were the days being young wasn't it." Alex seems to be remembering his life.
Sadly, my days of trick-or-treating ended when Mom uprooted us from living in this town many years ago. It was the same time I found out nothing was real that I had previous thought as a child.
I don't add in with Alex's happy memories, not wanting to let it be known how sour my younger days were after my parents divorce.
"I got this. It is almost put back together. So, then just to connect everything again." Alex informs me.
Moving into the main part of the shop, I hold the phone in my hand. Still no calls, but we still like to have the phone in the work shop side for if it rings and not one of us is in office.
Logging onto the computer, I bring up some websites that has all types of Halloween decorations. It is honestly a little overwhelming with all the different things.
I don't think the creepy, scare factor is the way to go since there will be small children around. My childhood may have been cut short, but I want to do something for others being able to hold onto it.
One thing I know for a fact, none of the candy we hand out will be some healthy items. It is the one time a year that sugary goodness is allowed in my opinion and will let the health side of me go. It is worth it though, getting to see a bunch of smiling faces.
Alex walks in the office part.
"We may need to buy some fans for the shop." He laughs.
"I am working on a order now, so I will go and add them with the one site." I agree.
Finally with the order done and everything coming in within the next day or two, I sit back in the chair.
Glancing out the window, I can see Scarlett and Maddy laughing together across the street.
One look at the clock, tells me I have missed lunch being involved with ordering things.
I focus on the ladies as they place things outside the door to her Coffee-Holic's shop. A name that definitely suits my little firecracker that owns it.
My firecracker?
Huh, I like the ring to that. Alex is in the shop nibbling on his lunch.
"I am going to walk over and see the girls." I let him know.
"Once I finish this, I am going to get the last few hook ups done on the car and then I will come over." Alex nods.
I walk over to where Scarlett is a few steps up a ladder.
I wait not wanting to say anything to scare her.
"Hi, Liam." Maddy waves.
I nod my head at her, but it was enough for Scarlett to turn around. Only having one foot on the ladder.
"What's up?" Scarlett asks.
"You do realize both feet are supposed to be on that thing." I bounce between my feet a little.
"Geez, grandpa loosen up." Scarlett laughs climbing off of the ladder just to jump off the last step.
"You need to loosen up. Always so tense." Scarlett puts her hands on her hips.
"It is hard to loosen up when your safety is involved." I mumble.
"Want to say that a little louder?" Scarlett smirks.
"Could I talk to you for a minute?" I ask, still feeling nervous.
I just want to simply get her number and give her mine. Why in the hell is it so hard?
Scarett walks in the shop where there is no one.
Taking a look around I see the cutest set up she has done for decorating that matching her perfectly.
Bring my focus back to Scarlett, I suck in a breath of air.
"I would like to give you my number." I state, before my nerves gets the best of me.
"Really?" Scarlett blushes. I smile slightly and nod.
Scarlett pulls her phone from he back pocket in the tight jeans she has on.
She unlocks it and hands it over to me. I add in my contact information and call my number to where I can save hers as well.
"This way it makes everything so much easier to talk to you." Scarlett whispers.
"I really like the sound of that. So with having each others numbers now. Can I say you're my girlfriend?" I lean in close to her.
"Yes." Scarlett is quick to answer, just as her lips claim mine in a fast hungry kiss.
