Undead Mage from a Cell Chapter 3

Squeak, squeak, squeak! With the faint sound reaching him, the half-asleep Gu Xi opened his eyes. Clutching the small stone in his hand, Gu Xi looked into the darkness of the prison, where a scrawny rat was peeking out. In the direction the rat was heading, some crushed black bread was scattered on the ground. Raising his right hand gently, Gu Xi focused intently on the rat’s movements. As the rat darted forward, Gu Xi swung his arm, and the stone hit the rat’s head. [Killed a rat (small animal), gained 0 experience points!] Gu Xi ignored the message that flashed before his eyes and grabbed the stone-dead rat with a speed unimaginable to ordinary people. Footsteps were heard outside the prison, and Gu Xi pressed the dead rat against himself, leaning close to the corner and closing his eyes to pretend to sleep. Two men wearing black robes and hoods hurriedly approached the cell door, glanced at Gu Xi, who was leaning against the corner, and one of them said viciously. "Kid, it’s you again. If you want to die early, just let me know, and I’ll send you on your way right now." Gu Xi didn’t even lift his head, lowered it, closed his eyes, and pretended not to hear, completely ignoring the two men shouting outside. Meanwhile, his hands behind his back didn’t stop moving. The dead rat was held upside down in his left hand, while he made a grasping gesture with his right hand over the location of the dead rat, extracting a small pale white light cluster from its body. [You completed the Soul Drawing ceremony and obtained Soul Fragment *0.1] Success, a thought flashed through Gu Xi’s mind, and a slight smile appeared on his lips. Seeing this smile made the two men outside even angrier. "You’re laughing on purpose, open the door, watch me not cut this guy to death." one of the men yelled as he drew his knife, intending to find the key and rush in to teach Gu Xi a lesson. The other man, having some sense, quickly hugged his companion to stop him. "Forget it, he won’t last long anyway. We don’t need to bother with a ritual sacrifice like him." Gu Xi heard this but ignored it, as nine identical soul fragments quickly appeared in his hand. This was the result of his self-rescue efforts during this time. Gu Xi was a player from a world that revolved around games. Having just graduated, he hadn’t completed his job assignment, so he was a rookie newbie. However, he had already set his career path as an Undead Mage during college. This game was meant for him to complete his job assignment. On the very first day he entered the game world, before he even figured out his tasks, he was knocked out from behind and thrown into this pitch-black prison. In this perpetually dark place, Gu Xi didn’t know how long he had been imprisoned. He only knew that someone would occasionally throw some black bread in to keep the imprisoned people alive. No one cared about anything else. To save himself, Gu Xi had devised many methods. But since he was captured as soon as he arrived in this world, he didn’t have any materials at hand. The only way to survive was to catch a few rats and piece together soul fragments desperately. Now that the tenth soul fragment was in hand, Gu Xi had no intention of pretending any longer. Clutching all the soul fragments, Gu Xi drew a scroll from his game backpack. This was his job task. Originally, Gu Xi was supposed to recruit a powerful undead at a graveyard or cemetery using the soul fragments, to serve as his contracted undead, thus beginning his career as an Undead Mage. But now Gu Xi had to abandon that idea. As long as he could contract an undead, its strength didn’t matter. What mattered was that he could become an Undead Mage and utilize the various Undead Mage skills. Gu Xi’s actions were quite obvious, and the two men outside noticed. "What are you doing? Hand over what’s behind you." They were also getting anxious, with the one restraining his companion quickly searching for a key. But it was too late. As Gu Xi activated the scroll in his hand, a gust of cold wind swept through the small cell, and a chilling sensation crept over the two men. No longer pretending, Gu Xi opened his eyes, flipped his hand, and tore the scroll forcefully. A little girl, about 1.3 meters tall, emanating a bright white glow and sporting a bowl-cut fringe, appeared before Gu Xi. The little girl had a round face, with black eye sockets and no eyes. She held a copper mirror with a diameter of thirty centimeters, with countless rotating gears on its back. In the center of the gears were numerous eyes of varying sizes, constantly blinking. It was unclear who was the soul and who was the entity. As she moved, the little girl floated about ten centimeters above the ground. Floating in front of Gu Xi, the little girl opened her mouth. "Big brother, did you call me out?" The voice was like water droplets hitting ice, chilling to the bone. The sound froze not only the two men outside but also made the hairs stand on end for Gu Xi, who had summoned the girl. Struggling to recall the knowledge he’d learned in class, Gu Xi forced himself to raise his head, staring into the girl’s hollow eyes. Before he could speak, the girl opened her mouth again. "Big brother, did you call me out?" This time, the chill in the voice was even more intense. Realizing this, Gu Xi quickly reached out his hand and solemnly said to the girl. "I am Gu Xi, hoping to make a contract with you and borrow your power to become an Undead Mage." As Gu Xi spoke, a pale blue light group, composed of the complete soul, floated from his hand. Upon hearing Gu Xi’s words, the girl’s face lit up with delight. She spoke eagerly. Latest content published on novel⟡fire.net "Me? I really can... I’m willing to be your contracted undead." But she quickly collected herself, suppressing her joy, and tapped the soul light group with her hand. Seeing this, Gu Xi also quickly touched his right index finger to it, and with that, the scroll Gu Xi tore was ignited before them, reducing to ashes. [Ding!
