Ultimate Iron Man Chapter 131

Janet Van Dyne was more than she seemed. Her mutation, which allowed her to manipulate molecular density and emit bioelectric bursts, showed up early in her life. Later, her abilities were enhanced by Pym Particles, which were actually extracted and refined from her DNA, not just a scientific invention. Hank Pym, a once-brilliant scientist with high ideals, discovered the unique quantum fluctuations in Janet's blood. He studied them obsessively, delving deeper until he uncovered the foundation for size manipulation within her cellular structure. Back then, the world didn't treat Mutants kindly, so he had sworn to protect her secret. More than that, he had built their careers on it. With the creation of the Pym Particles and the Wasp Suit, Janet became SHIELD's covert asset. Code name: Wasp. She was quick, tactical, and nearly invisible when necessary. Her missions were precise and effective, and with Hank at her side managing the tech and occasionally joining the field missions, the two became a near-legendary pair within SHIELD. They rose quickly through the ranks. Yet behind the closed doors of their lab and the shadows of their success, a more painful reality took root. Back when Tony helped him with the Hydra missile situation, the only reason Hank helped was because he didn't want to lose his only source of Pym Particles, and he knew that without it, he was nothing. And he maintained a fake persona outside his personal life. [PRESENT TIME] [HANK PYM'S PRIVATE LAB] [NORTHERN CALIFORNIA] In the lab, glowing screens showed unfinished code and incomplete equations. Test tubes cluttered the counters, and empty vials with red residue were lost under broken glass. Hank sat at his workstation with slumped shoulders and tired eyes. His hand shook slightly as he reached for the bottle of pills next to him. The failures had piled high over the years. Every variation of the Pym Particles he tried to engineer fell apart. They were unstable, lethal, and impossible to control. He wanted to expand their use, to scale them for defense, for medicine, and maybe join the Ultimates and gain more fame. But his own genius had turned against him. The truth was clear: he no longer understood the particles the way he once did, because he was no longer studying science. Now, he was feeding an addiction. This addiction wasn't just to the substances on his desk, but also to the control he once had. Janet had noticed the warning signs long before anyone else. She had warned him repeatedly and pleaded with him to stop. At first, he dismissed her concerns. When she refused to let him take more of her blood, his anger shifted to desperation. As his desperation grew into frustration, it began to turn violent. She had endured it quietly for months, afraid of what would happen if the truth behind the particles came out. If the world discovered that Pym Particles were biologically sourced from a mutant, the consequences would be devastating. She will become a glowing target for the people who would stop at nothing to get her blood. Heck, they might capture and experiment on her. All in all, it'd be another hell. So Janet remained silent. But each time Hank pushed for more, each time he grabbed her arm with just a little more force, each time the vials came out without her consent, that silence broke further. The bruises weren't always visible. Hank knew better than to leave them on the surface. But the emotional damage had carved deep canyons through what was once a partnership. He no longer looked at her like an equal. He looked at her like a resource. And she was done being one because things have changed. [Later that evening] [Janet's apartment] Janet sat on the edge of her bed, looking down at a sealed envelope. Inside were classified files: backups of Hank's research, blood draw records, biochemical models, and audio logs of their last three private lab sessions. She had recorded everything. She planned to send them to Howard, who was now the new Director of SHIELD. The sound of the front door slamming open shattered the silence. Janet jumped to her feet, the sealed envelope slipping to the floor. Heavy footsteps echoed in the hallway. Moments later, Hank Pym leaned in the doorway, his lab coat slipping from one shoulder. His bloodshot eyes reflected sleeplessness and desperation, reeking of chemicals. "Janet," he rasped, voice slurred but purposeful. "We need to talk." Hank stepped into the room, swaying slightly. His expression twitched between fury and pleading. "I need more. Just a few samples. I almost cracked it. I'm this close." He pressed his thumb and index finger together, as if that physical gesture would convince her. "You don't understand. This isn't just about us anymore. This is about the future." "Janet," he said, louder this time, taking another step forward. "I gave everything for this. I built our name, our lab, your suit, your legacy! And now you're just going to cut me off?" She didn't answer. Her gaze flicked toward the sealed envelope near the floor. His jaw clenched. "You're sending it to Stark, aren't you? You're going to ruin everything because you're feeling what? Betrayed?" She moved slowly toward the envelope, but Hank stepped in her way, breathing harder. "Just give me what I need," he said, his hand already reaching for the kit inside his coat. "Don't make this harder than it has to be." Janet didn't flinch. Instead, her hand shot to the nearby table, where she grabbed a ceramic lamp and hurled it across the room. The lamp struck Hank in the chest, shattering on impact and scattering shards across the floor. He staggered back, more shocked than hurt. "You're out of your mind!" she snapped. "You don't get to play the victim, Hank. You used me and crossed every line we ever agreed on, and now you're begging for more? No. We're done!" Hank's expression twisted. The fury finally surfaced. "Fine. I tried asking." Hank suddenly lunged forward and hit Janet in the face. The blow pushed her back into the dresser, causing her to cry out in pain as she hit the edge. Dazed, she instinctively raised her hands to protect herself. But Hank was already on her, gripping her throat tightly. "Know your place, bitch!" he yelled. He pushed her against the wall, squeezing harder. His eyes were wild, and his face showed both anger and madness. "Kuggg!" Janet clawed at his forearm, struggling to breathe as his fingers crushed into her windpipe. "Aakkk!" Her vision blurred, and for a terrifying second, she feared he would actually kill her. She acted on her instinct and twisted her body sharply to the side, using the leverage of her shoulder and knee to unbalance him. Then she bit down on his arm. Her teeth sank into the skin just above his wrist, tearing through flesh. "Gaaahh! Motherfucker!" Hank screamed and slapped her before stumbling backward, blood trailing from the bite. Janet dropped to her knees, gasping for air. "Cough! Cough! You mad man. Cough!" Her throat burned as she coughed and gasped. Then she activated her mutation, shrinking down to the size of a palm. In her miniaturized form, her wings extended from her back and buzzed, lifting her into the air. Her bioelectric cells surged, charging faster now that adrenaline was pumping through her system. "Damn it! Fucking mutant," Hank cursed. She released a barrage of electro blasts. Yellow pulses of concentrated energy struck Hank in the chest, shoulders, and thighs. Sparks flew from his clothing, and he stumbled again, trying to shield his face. "You don't get to hurt me anymore!" her voice rang out, small but sharp, like a needle through the air. Hank growled in frustration and reached for his coat. He activated the failsafe hidden inside the collar. A wave of violet energy spread across his body, forming a lightweight, skin-tight mesh suit lined with reflective tech. The electro blasts hit him again, but this time they fizzled out before making contact. Janet halted mid-air, startled. She had never seen this suit before. The energy from her next blast crackled around him harmlessly, absorbed into the layered fabric. "I knew you'd try that," Hank said as he pulled a small canister from his belt. It looked like a can of bug spray. His eyes gleamed with cruel satisfaction. "You really thought I'd come unprepared?" He pressed the trigger. A cloud of greenish vapor exploded toward her, and Janet felt it hit her body like acid. Her wings stuttered in the air, spasming wildly. Her skin burned with a chemical sting. The vapor disrupted her balance, her flight, and even her control over her mutation. She began to descend rapidly, body twisting mid-air as the particles clung to her like glue. She landed hard on the floor and reverted to her full size, coughing violently. Her body shook, eyes watering as she struggled to expel the chemical from her lungs. Hank stood over her, still clutching the canister. "It's a custom compound," he said, voice cold. "Made from trace elements of your own blood. Laced with disruptors keyed to your bioelectric output. And something to scramble your nervous system. Just a little gift I've been working on." Janet rolled onto her side, choking on each breath, her limbs sluggish. Hank knelt beside her and picked up the sealed envelope that had fallen earlier. He slid it into his coat pocket and leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a whisper. "I built this life. I made you. Don't think for a second that anyone will believe your version over mine." Then the door blasted open as splinters of wood flew everywhere. "What the-" Hank jumped up in surprise. "Surprise, motherfucker!" Before Hank could respond, a hard punch shattered his lower jaw, and his body flew like a ragdoll, crashing into the wall.
